I think I'm starting to get this mindset now. Full disclosure I joined the ride somewhat late, I think I started watching the series about a week before the first EQG aired. Up until about half way through S4 I didn't realised there were /mlp/ livestreams and I was just watching the YouTube rips. Once I found them I was up and watching them for the rest of S4, 5 and part way into 6. Part way into 6 I started thinking fuck it I watch the rip later and by the end I was saying I'll watch it whenever. EQG on the other hand I was watching the moment the first copy dropped then rewatching the TV rip and finally the blu ray release, and I don't plan on stopping this.

You're damn right about the songs; that's one of the things that pulled me into the show Ingram is a damn talented man. Off the top of my head I can't remember any S6 songs, I can remember a few S5 songs but I can basically recall the majority of the EQG songs. As you said it feels like the staff are putting more of their effort into EGQ.

Pretty much what the others have said. It also feels a lot more comfy to me, best way I can describe it. When I started watching MLP I got into it because it was cute and happy, it lifted my mood and made me feel better. The later seasons haven't been giving me those feelings as consistently quite like the older ones did whereas EQG is always a joy to watch. As I mentioned, I'm a G1fag, so I've seen worse shit than what we've seen of the mlp movie so far
I still enjoy FiM, just not as much as I do EqG, I'm cautiously optimistic about the movie

we have thousands of minds to come up with stuff and full creative freedom, so the fandom will almost always make better stuff than what a few writers with Hasbro breathing down their necks ever could
in the end, everyone forgets that is has been, and will always be, a glorified toy commercial, even EqG

I admire the fact that Ishi truly loves his work and wants it to be successful, doing the absolute best he can with Hasbro mandating certain things
and that EqG is working hard at making themselves "separate" to FiM as much as they possibly can

I can hardly wait for the 3 specials and then a show
