>Wind glides across your wings as you swiftly fly above the badlands. Abundant outcrops of tan sandstone litter the desert floor. Upon them several small shrubs and cacti struggle to cling to life with what little sustenance the desert provides. Canyons and arroyos cut through the landscape, making land travel extremely treacherous. The three of you fly over them with ease.
>The badlands of the Changeling Kingdom have always been rough and inhospitable, but you much prefer the desert compared to what lies ahead.
>The thick and overgrown Everfree Forest grows closer and closer. The edge of the forest is ripe with hanging vines, half-fallen decaying trees, and other abundant flora. Not to mention untold amounts of fauna that have yet to be seen...
>“We’re now entering enemy territory! I shouldn’t have to remind you about all the dangers that lurk in these woods. Keep an eye out for anything suspicious. If you see something, say something!”

>The border between the Changeling Kingdom and Equestria passes underneath you. This is only the second time you’ve entered Equestria. You’ve flown over the Everfree Forest once before, but that was with the safety of the entire hive. Now there is only three of you.

>Even though two of the mightiest warriors in the hive at your side, a feeling of isolation grips you. Together you are nothing more than three black grains of sand flying over the endless sea of green.

>Time passes by as you continue to soar. Glancing backwards you notice the badlands you flew in from are completely out of view, replaced instead by the Everfree Forest.
>“Alright. It's been about five miles, keep your eyes peeled! The source of the beam should be right around here!”
>You look at the canopy intently. All you see is more of the same, a never ending span of trees.
“I don't see any clearings sergeant.”
>The drone continues to stare downwards, not acknowledging you.
“Maybe if we split up we can cover more ground?”

You've been in forests before, but something about these woods seems off. It's as if the trees themselves feel unnatural.
>Keeping your worries to yourself, the three of you continue through the dimly lit forest. The flight is made treacherous by an abundance of contorted branches and hanging vines. You follow Gaster's lead as the three of you weave in and out of the abundant obstacles.
>A glare--coming from the top of the structure--once again catches your eye.
>Gaster slows down to a halt as he begins to descend towards the forest floor.

>The three of you move up until you are just a short distance away from the stone.
>Gaster carefully looks to his right, and then to his left.
>“No sign of the hag.” He whispers.
>The drone slowly approaches the structure, eyeing it cautiously. Knives and yourself follow suit.
>Taking a close examination, you carefully study the mirror. The large circular device doesn’t look very special, it is simply a well polished mirror roughly two feet in diameter.
>The stone looks fairly ordinary as well, not seeming to be magical in nature.
>You look upwards.
>A ray of late-morning sunlight shines down through a hole in the canopy. The opening is the same size as the mirror, just large enough for the beam of light you saw last night.

>Looking in the direction the mirror is facing, you spot another circular mirror off in the distance. But instead of pointing upwards, this mirror points downwards into a small outcrop of moss covered rocks. Squinting, you can just barely make out a small patch of darkness within the outcrop. It's an opening, just large enough for a pony to get through.
“The cave…” You whisper to yourself.
>It is just like the zebra said.
>You tap Gaster on his shoulder. The drone looks to you, his head still on a swivel looking for threats.
>You point to the other mirror adjacent to the outcrop.
>“Bingo…” The old drone mumbles under his breath.
>Gaster steps towards the cave, but stops. He turns back towards the upward facing mirror.
>“Let's take care of this first.”
>He quietly buzzes to the top of the stone pillar.
>Gaster places both of his front hooves upon the mirror and begins to pull. His well-toned muscles begin to flex as he lifts with much force, but the panel of glass remains firmly attached. Frustration growing in his eyes, the drone lets out a small grunt as he gives the mirror a sudden jerk.
>*Clink*
>The mirror rips off from its adjustable bracket as the sound of snapping metal resonates throughout the forest.
>“Shit!” Gaster curses under his breath.
>All three of you turn towards the outcrop, watching for movement.
>Several long, agonizing seconds pass by. But nothing happens.
>Satisfied that no one heard the noise, Gaster lets forth a sigh of relief.
>“Thorax, grab this.”
>The drone lowers the large mirror down to you.
>You grab hold with both of you front hooves-

>The mirror slips from your hooves and shatters to the ground.
>A horrified expression strikes your face as the sound of broken glass rings across the forest.

“We need to-”
>The fragments of the mirror begin to illuminate with a green light.
>You watch in awe as twenty long shards of glass elevate into the air.
>The mare’s attention shifts towards the dark hole along the side of the outcrop. As she faces the cave, each of the shards of glass turns directly towards the entrance as well.
>She begins to walk forward.
>You stand there, marveling at the horrifying sight of several lethal objects encircling the mare.
>“Swarm! What the fuck are you... /Holy/ shit!” Gaster proclaims seeing the many shards. “Good thinking Knives, now get your asses over here!”
>Your attention shifts back to the cave. You run forward, taking cover behind a tree trunk not far from the entrance. Your lone dagger continues to float beside you, still wobbling in fear.

>Droplets of sweat begin to drip from your chitin as you continue to look at the entrance.
>Several moments pass by.
>The strain of holding onto the dagger with your magic is beginning to take its toll.
>You look at Knives and Gaster. They too are beginning to feel the effects of magic fatigue, the mental drain begin made worse due to the fact that neither of you have fed in weeks.
>“Steady!” Gaster says, struggling to maintain his spell.
“Ghaa!”
>The strain of the magic is too much. You drop your dagger onto the moist forest floor on the other side of the log. As you stand behind cover--breathing in and out heavily trying to catching your breath--you lean across the log and grab the dagger with your fangs. Your heart beating rapidly, you quickly return behind the safety of the log.

>The three of you proceed downwards. The narrow opening is only large enough for one changeling to get through at a time, however, as you descend, the tunnel becomes wider. The dark and dreary tunnel is littered with stalactites and stalagmites, looking like jagged fangs in the throat of the cave.

>Knives lets go of his tail and points forward with her hoof. Directly in front of Gaster, elevated a few inches above the ground, is a taut rope rope.
>“Trip wire…” The Gaster says under his breath.
>The three of you look upwards. A large steel grate hangs above you. Attached to the grate lies several jagged pieces of sharp rusty metal. The entire grate is drenched in the remnants dried green changeling blood.
