Here's the doc of plushie makers, it should tell you there, but if there's a maker you REALLY like, but it doesn't say so, check their profile. I don't think that doc has been updated in a while.

and some other sites but after many attempts, pic related keeps happening to varying degrees. I figure it's the way I'm pinning it at this point but I don't know.

The link explains how to trim seam allowances to prevent bunching. It looks like you're just having problems getting your machine to stitch along the curve.

Now, I'm shit for sewing, so hopefully someone else has a better answer, but you should be able to use your hands to push the piece along the curve as you sew. And if it's being really difficult, just flip the lever to pick the foot up and reposition the fabric every couple cm.

When I do tight curves, I always pin the lines parallel with loads of pins, and only take them out right when I'm coming to them. This helps to prevent to curves from going wonky

I've tinkered with robotics in general on and off for years, I'm considering trying to build a small horse shaped robot and put a plush "over" it.

Its quite a step up in what I have done previously but it seems like we are getting pretty far with robotics in general so it shouldnt be too far out of my grasp assuming I dump the time and money into it.

Has anyone seen something like this before? I know there is some super shitty little toys that resemble this but the ones I've looked up wouldnt be super helpful to purchase as a guide.

End goal of course being a LS plush waifu that can actually hug back etc.

See if you can find a local store selling embroidery machines. Call and ask if they have used sewing machines available and if you could test one out. They should have a used machine you can get a discount on assuming you find one you like. This way you can test out a sewing machine to see if you like it before investing any money.

I bought a cheap $70-$80 machine from Walmart a couple of years ago. I upgraded a year later to the cheapest sewing/embroidery combo machine I could find on Amazon. The upgrade made it extremely clear how crappy the Walmart machine was. I wish I'd just went straight for the combo instead of wasting money on the crappy Walmart machine.

A sewing machine will take significantly less time than hand sewing for sure, but it does have a learning curve. I personally feel machine sewn plush are more durable and better looking than hand sewn, but that's really up to you.

You'll need to pin your fabric before sewing and remove pins as you sew so the fabric doesn't slip or move. I usually use a water soluble marker to mark where I want to stitch.This creates a guide for seam allowance and keeps my stitching straight. Stitch length can be adjusted on the machine and can be made longer or shorter. I'm not understanding what you're asking regarding compensating with hand sewing.

Problem is, starting prices for those over here is about $1000 (USD), so I very quickly NOPE'd out of that. As for used, I kind of want to avoid that option. An SE400 costs $310 USD on Amazon for me. It's the combo I bought a couple of years ago.
It's not going to work for LS plush, but it'll work for smaller ones and get you started if that's what you want.

A sewing/embroidery dealership is still the way to go, in my opinion. They should let you "test drive" the machines and at least try sewing or embroidering on them. I mentioned it as a free way to test out a sewing machine and see if you like it, but I don't know what's available in your area.

Getting a little lost again. I guess we have different methods of sewing.

My method: I trace the pattern on my fabric with a water soluble marker. Seam allowance is usually included in the pattern. If not, I trace around the pattern again and add the seam allowance. I lay the fabric on a mat and use a rotary cutter to cut the pattern out. I pin the pieces of fabric together and then carefully sew it together on a sewing machine. I then make sure the seams are strong enough by pulling and tugging on the fabric. I trim away any excess fabric if there is overhang.

When I got home from the airport first thing I did was hug my LS plushies. Amazing feeling after 4 weeks.

Keep in mind I'm not from the US (or any other civilized country for that matter). As such, model availability and prices vary... quite a bit. For example, the tiny, bare sewing machine I posted in >>29288691 basically costs almost as much as what you paid for yours (~$250), so I'm pretty sure I'm not getting one that can embroider any time soon.

Only reason I'm considering paying these outrageous prices is because I can get this one for almost half that price, which is more reasonable. The problem with that is that pretty much getting any other model means spending multiple times what I'm paying for this one. Hell, even getting the same model at another shop costs almost twice what I'm paying for it, so it's quite ridiculous as you can see.

Yeah, I have trouble explaining clearly what I mean. Sorry about that. I don't have a lot of knowledge of different ways to sew. What I do doesn't sound very different from what you do, though: I just trace the patterns onto fabric for the pieces I'm gonna sew together (I use a common pen), then cut them out with a scissor leaving some seam allowance. Then I just sew (for now, by hand) along the line on both pieces of fabric to join them together.

So basically, after tracing the patterns, I end up with two pieces of fabric that have a pen line on them. The line on each piece of fabric represents the seam line between the pieces I'm gonna sew together. Then I just sew the two pieces together by stitching along that line.

Given this way of sewing, I imagine having to somehow line up both pieces of fabric so that the machine can sew accurately along the line on both the upper and lower pieces of fabric.

Anyway, don't worry. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually. It can't be that fucking difficult.

It's why I stopped selling them too. They're just not worth the time. My materials were literally free since I made them with samples and stuffed them with scraps from said samples.
