I haven't really seen the latest movies, but man has this show fallen into poor character writing.

Why do characters do things just for the sake of evil, knowing it was evil? I would assume their reasons were for some motive or something. Like Sunset wanted to rebuke Celestia and prove that she was both ready and capable to wield power. She wasn't "evil", she was over-ambitious and wasn't grasping that Celestia was communicating poorly when she was talking about "readiness" and "responsibility".

And now she's the element of empathy. Why was the element of empathy not able to understand that Celestia is a bad communicator on top of being generally bad at everything else?

Anon, let's assume I liked the first Land Before Time and was touched when Little Foot's mother died. I enjoyed that movie.

Now let's suppose that they release another movie at some point in the series where Little Foot loses all respect for his mother because it turns out Sharp Tooth is actually a nice guy when you get to know him, and Little Foot declares himself "reformed" and starts eating other dinosaurs.

If I enjoyed the character in the first movie, why would I watch an entire series of movies just to arrive at the one where the character I liked is the opposite of how they were in the first movie?
