I wrote a serial green like that for a year. It had some fans. It was a good plot for an SoL story but it would be hard to base a CYOA around it unless your body did some REALLY odd things.

Something SoL like that, indeed. But it would definetly be more sand-boxy than th quests I've run so far, and probably aslo shorter.

The plot I had in mind was that you just bought a house for the price of a loaf of bread because it was supposeddly abandonned for more than a century and deep in the countryside, and the quests starts when you find out one big detail which wan't mentionned in the contract, and genuinly unknow from the seller.

What I had in mind would have been to let the players decide the reason they bought the house (they occupation/CM) during character creation and then to use that to then insert a long-term goal later on.

On my side, I would create many secrets in the house for the players to discover (being on the top of a sentient golem pone being only one oddity among others) and also to take care of house pone and trying to learn how she "works", something she doesn't really understand herself either. And needless to say, a century of not being taken care of brought her to a quite poor condition.

I either haphazardly cobble together some attributes I want the character to have or half ass it thinking that this character won't be around for long. Either way I usually regret this. My charater designs are probably the most boring out of all the visual art making QMs here. Probably because I tend to focus far too much on function, effectively sacrificing the aesthetics of my characters. It's something I really need to work on.
