I'm not sure if bath will keep running the filly quest here, but in case he is I wanted to agree with this Anon that the Carnival space mare is here to guide lost souls, and if we stay here we aren't being brave or anything, just stupid. The place we are in is pretty much limbo. Why would we stay there? We died, I don't think we can just regain our memories and walk on out of here, not when every other foal has suffered the same fate. I really do think it would be a good idea to just go with the space mare and be happy

I suggest the measurement unit of 1Bt commonly used in centibaths (cBt) or decibaths (dBt) or on rare occasions millibaths (mBt) for exceptionally low bathivity. As it is a rather subjective measurement, a Bath-value is always the approximated average of the bathivity range.
E.g. if you estimate the bathivty to be between 110 and 130 cBt, you can just say that the post in question has around 120cBt.

Romance.

A couple of quests with romance in them are fine. Quests where the initial focus and plot revolves around romance are also fine. Every quest I've read recently has had romance, and the initial focus was not romance, and that is not okay.

I get that it's the playerbases at fault (partly), and that they like to pair up the MC with a waifu or husbando, but it gets annoying after a while.

If the romance in a story has a large impact, and is needed to tell the story in the first place, that's fantastic. However, adding romance does not automatically make a story interesting, and if a story can be told without it then why have it in the first place?

This is how I see CYOAs. Each story can be told without romance and can be interesting in it's own right. I get invested and involved, wanting to see where it goes. I trust the QM can lead us in a way that can be enjoyable and unique. Then the players start pushing romantic actions.

The 'romance' isn't romance. It isn't a developing relationship slowly blooming into something great, it's "let's pick a waifu and romance her though we know nothing about her!". It moves too fast, and comes off forced while also taking away from the story. I would rather that sort of thing be avoided, but recently it hasn't.

Perhaps I'm looking at the player actions themselves and not so much the stories. Those two things tend to skew when I'm playing a CYOA.

Frostbitten is fucking phenomenal in that regard despite "first girl", or in this case, only girl. The important, slowly developing relationship that you see only the faintest signs of budding romance. It's a real shame it doesn't run often.

Consequence of the medium,, if you don't lock in your waifu then you're liable to get ganked. Look at M&M for example, where they tried the slow relationship building strategy and then almost lost it to a group of fags overnight who voted to rush right in to something.

Although I want to say the Basil thing didn't have any effect at all, it did really make me lose a fair bit of confidence in myself. I was suddenly hurting my characters for close to no reason at all, and I realized I wasn't really that good a QM.
But I still tried to keep it going after that. What happened afterwards was just the slow burnout as Curse stopped being fun entirely, and I was trying to run as serious a quest as possible, as I gave into the idea that because I had a large playerbase, I had to provide the highest quality quest I could because I had become sort of popular. I sort of lost track of the fact that it was just supposed to be a cute fun quest will waifus and sillyness, and was instead racking my brain as hard as I could and struggling to meet the level of quality I thought the players required for every post.

This combined with a general onset of depression as I gave into the "Lis belongs in the bad poner box" meme that was basically only being propagated by me. Oh, and probably actual clinical depression as well, that probably helped.

So at some point I started having little breakdowns and not being able to be happy with anything I tried to make, and thus Curse just stopped being possible.
The academically heavy courses I am taking this semester made it impossible to return this year, even if I had overcome depression, Which I sort of haven't and I should really see about going to a doctor and getting anti-depressants of some sort.

Curse had a really positive effect on my life, it was something that gave me a break from the shitsorm that had been pouring down on me for along time. Hi there, may I have your attention? Even if you’re not a Bard Quest player, please? I might start a new quest, but first I’d like to ask people’s opinion here.

First, I’ll go straight to the point with Bard Quest players: I’ve been dissatisfied with the turn the quest has been taking. And I mean that in the way that I feel like the events I’m writing about right now aren’t very interesting to play and to write. So I’m going to offer you several options about what should I run, including a couple of other CYOA ideas I’ve been wanting to test for a while now.

First option: to continue Bard Quest where we left off: However, I feel like the current situation isn’t very god for doing anything really fun, and I’m afraid I didn’t manage to motivate my players enough to do something big on their own. So with this option, I’d really like some feedback first about how you think the whole quest could be better and what I may have done wrong so I can help you make it more interesting in the short term.

Second option: to continue Bard Quest and time skip toward Hortensia, where Eerie Birch awaits. I’ve already said I’ve got some really nice ideas for that part, and I’m pretty excited about it. Gramps and Winter Seed will leave the group instantly since the first remains in Daedalus to catch up with friends while the other returns to his order for now.

You just purchased a very old house in the countryside of Equestria for nearly nothing, but end up quite surprised as you end up in front of pic related.

I view it as a sandbox quest where I’ll only prepare the backstory of the house and a few secrets, that’s all. The rest is up to you.

I'm currently having a good time still. It's interesting to try and puzzle out Nymph and see if we can't help her become a better pony. If you're not having fun with it I understand but I'm still ok with it myself. I would at least like to get to the end of Nymph's parole before skipping ahead. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hype for the Hortensia arc tho.

Those are both decent ideas and I think you could make something of them. As a QM it's your job to suggest actions like these via an NPC when the player doesn't think of any themself. If a quest stopped every time the players got stalled no quest would ever be finished. Just find a way to incorporate an idea like this into the quest and keep running it. Maybe the minotaur judge doubted our ability to reform Nymph so he wrote to a specialist who appears to help us train her? Could even be that wizard she was going to be sent to in the first place, who's pissed about losing his specimen so offers a deal to the players to help reform her in exchange for her helping him with experiments. Something like that, just brainstorm an idea and inject it via an NPC. I hate to see a good quest die because its QM doesn't know life support.
