Almost, but not quite. They are on speaking terms at best. AJ is still a disgusting hypocrite who has yet to face her own double standards when she threw DT off the team. The path of healing is taking place, but it hasn't been followed through to the end yet, or that's the way I saw it anyway. To me, I saw a start, but something was still missing. Now whoever wrote Daw in, did a damn good job because I have absolutely no hard feelings about Daw whatsoever. She bumped up quite a bit in my book.

Don't get me wrong. When I mean huge bonus, I mean not only would I forgive everything, I'd be so overjoyed to have a resurrected A-Team I'd probably give you a handjob. Which is hyperbole for I'd buy you lunch. It would probably help mend my own broken spirit for writing canon stories. As I am right now, I can't force anything out because I just don't feel it anymore.

To say the pair in front of her looked rough did not do it justice.

The two royals of species so vastly different looked for all the world as if they had been savagely beaten before being rolled around in the dirtiest woods that could be found. Both sported deep, thick bruises, and enough scrapes and shallow cuts to nearly form a shape of some kind, art carved right into their bodies.

Somehow still, the obvious ache, the clear cuts and pained welts, still somehow was not the worst of it. And as always, the worst was reserved for the Queen who taunted fate so.

The changeling barely raised an eyebrow, more from the difficulty of making it past the crusted bits of chitin than any attempt at subtlety. She barely shifted her side, and with good reason, even the slight turn she gave to look over made the burns on half of her side crack ever so slightly. Neither looked pretty, both looked like they had seen the bad side of the worst of days, but that was something else entirely.

And yet, their expressions were not one of pain, or ache. They did not groan in agony, or even flinch in pain away from any sort of contact. Quite the opposite, and she scarcely believed her eyes.

The two royals looked almost content as they leaned against one another, and shared their support.

It took a good, long while before she could collect her thoughts, and more importantly push aside the fear that the Queen was currently suffering brain hemorrhaging.

It took longer to push a similar fear away when the princess joined in.

Finally, but looked back to the princess, and after what seemed an eternity of searching her helpless, confused expression, they sighed.

That sigh grew a hundred thousand fold, and mixed in with the deep groans of regret.

What I like about this is that it didn't actually set out to be a romance thing, it wasn't like he said out specifically to make them do something romantic for one another. Both of them just completed a character arc that just so happened to fit up well enough that they both developed as characters more, but also develop their interpersonal relationship a lot more. The way they develop separately from one another and completely unconnected, really did make them feel more complete and whole when the romance inclinations finally did come around.

Now? Now I totally believe it when they start developing real feelings for each other, and if they do move on to relationship it will feel a lot more real.

Think he means individual character ACTIONS, not characters themselves. And he's right that the main six, Twilight aside get more shit when they act up than the others do. Shit, someone complained Fluttershy was being too brutal to the dragon trying to attack her when she saved 007.

Shiny or Caddy or the lot never really get what they do whenever they have character developing moments, the Reveal Arc was proof of that. Applejack got shit because she was too sad.

I love just how deeply this series affects people, I really do, like I hardly see any of this kind of thing in other threads--granted none of them are a fucklong continuous story either, but still.

I'll give some props that the first replies are more focused in just their inability, rather than blaming anyone for writing what they wanna write. That's a real fear, when you want to contribute but can't, that isn't petty. It's natural, to want something but not feel up to it.

My only hope is that when they try, we can encourage them to get better, without just accepting random bullshit or some less than quality stuff just so that they'll try again like a thread desperate for writefags. So long as we remain supportive but willing to give some harsh stuff as well as the graces or concession for the story's sake, and we'll keep this wonderful world getting better and fixing things.

Believe in yourself and just give it a try, is all I can say. Chitania's arc isn't complicated at all, in fact it's the most straightforward of anyone so far, and it remains a favorite. The Gala was near nonstop comedy, and it's still a high note. Don't worry about the tangled web that makes a perfect snowflake, at least not yet.

Keep trying, and someday, it'll be you who everyone is desperately trying to follow and knocked for a loop when you deliver even harder than expected.

And this I'd the thing, we didn't take away everything good about Sunset, it's all still very much there, but because of the story it's been moved away to a path that isn't as noble and isn't as 'good'. And that's a good thing, a great thing even! "I'm the bad guy", while not a bad thing inherently, is never going to be as good as a character who's fall we watched, who has good points besides her bad points, and who still has hope for salvation even if it's never realized.

We saw Sunsets life, we understand her, and that make's every confrontation she has much bigger, and every glimmer of hope stand out.

Apple Crazy inspired the hell out of me in the way of twists and turns, because I was one of the ones who just knew it'd be used one way, but then bam, it was used in the complete opposite.

If I ever get around to it, I plan for her to use it, oh yes, but definitely not in the way you mentioned, not to obvious and cheap. I've found us to be a bit more creative than that. Pennydrop hadn’t moved much since she had heard the news.

It had been a simple affair, by all standards. Her lackey had run inside in a panic, gave her all the details, and then left when she had waved her hoof. It hadn’t taken long for more of her agents to report in, to confirm, and then be sent away just as swiftly. All of them said the same thing, over and over. The Titan had returned, and she had attacked the Empire in a grand battle. More than that, and what it took so many speaking of it before she could believe, is what they all said of her when she did it.

All of them had confirmed it, pictures from her agents in the city had confirmed it, testimonials and recording had confirmed it, but she hadn’t believed it, she hadn’t wanted to. Not until she looked in close on one such picture, strained against the blur of the snow and the harsh outlines that made it near impossible to see. When she did see it, it was undeniable. She had obtained magic.

It shouldn’t have worked, every one of her scientists assured her it wouldn’t cross the species barrier. The same problem that prevented her from achieving changeling magic should have worked the other way as well, and walled off the spells of her kind from that monster. But it hadn’t.

Even the act of prying apart near fused together lids was proving a challenge, one she was pretty sure she would struggle to achieve if she had tried to do so physically with the her bare hooves and all the might she was so well known for.

Eventually, her will proved stronger than the invisible forces that fought so hard against her eyelids, and light was allowed to painfully sear it’s way into her sight.

She did not know what had been in whatever drug had been given to her to calm her aching body, but clearly, something had gone wrong. She tasted glass.

She knew what glass tasted like, and that was certainly glass.

This was the second time in a row she had trusted that pony not to screw her over, and the second time she ended up barely awake and feeling like anything else in the world would after she had stepped on them.

She was aching, she was bitter, and she was going to raise hell.

That had been the plan, until she heard a near silent noise of protest when she began to shift her body.

Her powerful muscles went rigid, feeling even stiffer than they had before, when she felt something beneath her begin to stir against her chest, and a grip tighten around her foreleg.

It took some doing to peer down, her neck protesting painfully at the angle she was forced to take, before she could spot it. Even then, all she could make out was a pair of yellow hooves wrapped tightly around her huge limb, and a mob of twin colored hair slowly shifting with slow breaths.

Instantly, the Titan froze, and could not move.

The pony beneath her slumbered away, her rest easy enough to find from the way another chest softly rose and fell against the chitin on her underside. The unicorn felt so small below her, so peaceful in sleep, with even the grip that had tightened at her movements relaxing all too soon, sure that she would not move again.

For once, the cocky and sure Queen changeling found herself utterly lost.

It was a possibility that made perfect sense, when she thought about it, yet left so many questions as to why the little spitfire was not currently screaming her head off, and fighting her to get free. Why her underside did not sting with the remains of magic fired against it, and why her mind had no remnants of control meant to shift her loose.

Instead, the mare seemed perfectly content to relax beneath a frame that could have easily crushed her and suffocated her to death, if only it had decided to go down. No fear, and if anything, no desire to see that weight moved away at all.

None of this made sense.

>Huh. She looks… different.

Some tiny voice in the back of her mind was almost certainly wondering aloud why she hadn’t moved, or shifted away. She chalked it up to curiosity, and held to it as tightly as the limbs held to her right now.

Time passed, and she still did not move.

Instead, she settled in, body stiff, looking straight ahead, and never moving to uncover the pony held tightly beneath her, shielded on all sides, protected.

The tiny body beneath her stirred, and hummed in contentment, before going still once again. Sleep overtook her, and that was the end of that.

Look, I'm not gonna say that they weren't good for each other, or don't make sense as friends. They both know what it's like to be feared, they both have aspirations and a love of progress that can't be matched, they're both the type who won't take shit from anyone but don't go out of their way to step on someone, and they both know firsthand that Variolus is hitler.

But they are both absolutely toxic to each other. They don't hold back, when one falters in questioning what they're doing, the other one pushes them past the point of wondering. They both have big ideas but no restraint or care for what those aspirations will bring. They affirm the other's beliefs and make sure that no matter what stupid thing they do, someone agrees with them.

They could be the best thing in the world for the world, and push it to crazy high places and safely, making lives better the world round, but they NEED an Applejack in their life, it's a nessecity. They need a calm, cool head to occasionally tell them "You're being fucking stupid, cut that out". Right now, there's no one to pump the breaks, and they're heading off a cliff. They need a friend who will say "Guys, you're drunk, and that's fine, but gimme the keys."

The thing is, I understand Chitania. Her motivations are fueled by her own terrible past and memories of a time long past due to her ice prison. It isn't hard to understand why she acts the way she does sometimes.

But Sunset is a book with seven seals to me. We never really get any introspection pieces with her, nor are we privy to her mist intimate thoughts or more convoluted plans. She had a whole entourage of hurt and desillusioned folks in her wake, but we can only suspect what she plans to do with them.

So you might think she's out to destroy Discord and repay her debt to Chitania, but with how cunning, manipulative and practices a liar she is, we can never be fully sure, especially now that she is capable of shapeshifting and mind control more than any other pony before her.

What I am trying to say is, I am utterly incapable of predicting her next move, and it makes this all very exciting to me because I care for and feel with Chitty, Sweet Note, 14 and even Flash and Fizzle, who all now depend on her.

There was pride, to be sure. Alright, this is way overdue and some parts are going to seem really odd since they were written weeks ago, but it's finally done. I'm a slow writer and this thing is over 7000 words long and I spent way too much time trying to figure out the ending before throwing in the towel and writing something for the sake of finishing it before it ended up completely obsolete, but I did it.

This was actually a lot of fun to write, and I did learn a lot from it. I learned that Shining, Cadance, and Eighteen are very well-developed characters that are difficult to keep perfectly in-character because of how nuanced they can be. I also learned that writing BDSM is hard and quite unlike writing vanilla clop. There are just so many options and possibilities that it's easy to get bogged down in details or caught up trying to stick too many things in. Still, it was enjoyable and educational and I have few regrets.

I'm probably going to start working on another clop story, but I don't want to give out any details in case it ends up not working out.
