Forgot about Faust's hand, so I've added a bit of shading to it this time. Dan's neck does look fucked in the thumbnails, but at the full resolution there is a barely visible line right at the border with Moe's hair, showing that his neck isn't as crazy thick as to extend beyond Moe's hair. I think the new fluffball does a good job filling that awkward gap that was underneath Dash's hands.

Not sure if you want a legitimate critique, but I'll give it to you.
This appears to be drawn from a Sketch Pad, not on pen and paper. The body is blocky, remember to make a bean shape when drawing the body. The general shape of the front hooves is okay, but your lines are all squiggly. Your hindlegs are not properly jointed. The head is improperly placed. The eyes are around the right size, but definitely need refinement. I don't think you actually tried to get a serious reaction from anyone, but I'm bored enough to critique it.
If this is your first try, then it's bad for drawpad. Maybe you should try getting something to straighten your lines?

I have a feeling you don't know what "using reference" means. It's not about copying (though doing a copy study is valid too) but more about taking an idea and making it your own. Or if, for example, you're stuck on some anatomy. You would look at a reference, preferably by an artist who knows what they're doing, and use it to figure you're problem. And its not limited to other pieces of art. You can borrow from real life and from other mammals to get ideas.

Possibly, it's getting old I guess. It's a 5 year old quad core i7 960 @ 3.2 GHz. I overclocked it to 3.6 a while ago, but haven't noticed much of a difference in performance since doing that. Space Engine is a pretty CPU intensive tech demo I enjoy, and it seems to run just fine with maximum LOD settings, so I'm not really feeling too compelled to upgrade it any time soon.

Definetely pencil and sketchbook. This will build skills that you can employ pretty much anywhere, and the day you can afford a tablet, those skills will translate much easier than if you were doing work with the mouse for months/years.

If you really want it digitized, do pencil/sketchbook, picture/scan it and then vector that in InkScape. This will give you the double whammy of core pencil work, and a digital end result.

What's wrong with Sunset? She's objectively one of the best written characters in the series. And she's one of the very few characters with a realistic personality.

My theory is that people hate her because she's the closest you'll get to an actual human in the show, and everyone here sucks around females so they try to push them away. The reason why EQG is hated so much is because it reminds them of their failures in highschool and the fact that the one thing they deemed great was now turned into the perfect highschool experience they could never experience.

Without even going into detail on how every other character around her is a stereotype and she's the most normal one and in fact one of the nicest, she's the only one that acts the realest and the most normal. She truly is one of the best characters the show could ever dream of having.

I don't think that style fits her at all, and her face is terribly drawn in my honest opinion.

I do get styles, but there are good styles and bad styles. Styles are subjective, but as humans we vary from taste and have very similar ones. I can bet my life on the fact that a majority of people here believe that his style is not good.
