>That we are fucked up as an species? Well helloo, get anough people and some of them will be fucked up. Especially when compared to the utopic world depicted by a children's cartoon. And there was a certain war of three tribes, you know. I am sure they went a little bit beyond throwing pies at each other. Things like treatening each other with famine? yeah.
I've already made it absolutely fucking clear what I am argueing about, the fact that you can't keep it straight speaks very clearly to your emotional knee jerking. You, or at the very least, someone who also has a very hard time keeping straight on the topic being discussed, are the one who brought up that humans are predators but don't eat sentient species and are implied therefore to be morally superior to them, naturally the conversation turns to that topic and there is a ton of "edgy" shit that actually fucking happened to prove you wrong, and it's going to keep being posted until the fight stops or you get it.

no, I most certainly can hold them up to our standards, you are holding chrysalis above her own. If you were reading, you would also notice teddy wasn't just a racist, he was a racial purist, and felt war was one of the most clensing things someone could do to affirm their rightful place above savages. he didn't just think they where inferior, he talked about killing them like it was meditation.

I actually believe most of them are girls, and no, I dont believe they are "Good", just that they did not come to try and conquer equestria just because theyre assholes, as others have mentioned and I have defended.
IF you were not retarded and illiterate, you would know that this conversation was exhuasted in full, because I did argue just that, and only was breathed new life in when some moron decided to challenge me when I said chrysalis is a better leader ethically than most of ours. The reason for that statement was also pretty clear, which is ironic considering the shitposting attitude you have towards me for criticizing humanity;
Any person who would say chrysalis is an evil shitlord who should have just sent in a diplomat to try for peaceful aid, and since she didn't she is a wicked person worthy of scorn, is condemning pretty much any of the greatest leaders of our country, who have all done so much worse far more often. So no, you are the ones painting humanity as "durhur so evul." I am willing to see creatures for their faults and still appreciate them without the hateboner our race is so proud of.

Also Spike shown to be both goofy and intelligent, and some Starlight character development, which is great.

Japan already pretty much gave up, the atomic bomb was just used to showcase our power to the USSR

there was no legitimate reason to bomb Hiroshima or Nagasaki
>>
>>26879312
Japan was nowhere near dead. It refused to capitulate, and the plan was sending a million man operation to invade it. The Japanese were keeping their best tanks, aircraft and artillery pieces on their mainland, which would be a really, really bad surprise for the U.S., which was facing light tanks armed with 47mm guns. We're talking about the equivalent to Tigers and Panzer IVs on the mainland the U.S. would have to grind through.

So yes, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were fully justified, unless hundreds of thousands of American soldiers dying is what you want. What would the people have said after if they learned the atom bomb was at disposal? A weapon that could have ended the war immediately, without the casualties the battle of Japan would have led to.

Plus, you're pretty much forgetting the incendiary bombings on Japan's wooden towns did WAY more damage than the two atom bombs combined. So no, stop trying to justify the atom bomb was useless.

that entire war was not justified. It was a good thing it happened but it was about american pacific greed and control more than anything, not a defensive war against japan. no american soldiers had to die if america hadn't spend years sabotaging their relations on purpose because they where aping what America and other western countries had achieved abroad.
>>
>>26879453
Stop worrying about that and start woring about making your OC a compelling force that has a reason to exist in the story, and a personality that is balanced with flaws and positives. don't make the supporting cast around him, make the supporting cast as they are, and have their personalities play off of the OC. this will lead to a natural progression that wont seem like you just made the character like them.

And you're telling us it's the bloody U.S.'s fault for trying to stop them after they bombed their harbor and destroyed several warships without a declaration?

I don't bloody even.
>>
I always thought the first bomb was debatably justified, but the second was absolutely not. It was dropped, what, 3 days after the first one? There wasn't even a response to the first one, not to mention the USSR got in on the fun in the meantime. Japan was given basically no chance to surrender before the second one was dropped.

no different than what america was doing. but let me make it a little more clear for you, if you think they where so justified, why did image concious america not declare war? according to you they had all the reasons in the world to do so, and yet despite doing everything in their power to get involved in a war with japan, they didn't declare war when it was obvious from the start according to you that they had the right to attack them.

>>theyre doing bad stuff doh!
so does america, all the fucking time, our history books talk about the nazis and little about how they basically where inspired by the way we treated the natives and our own wars of aggression. the point isn't that "japan is good" the point is american's history is blood red and is in no position to arbiter justice to anyone.

No it doesn't. It's 100% compliant through at least SoL, probably further, though obviously not through the S5 finale. Once you have a basis for SG and the spy agency, the rest of it follows pretty naturally, and is exactly the sort of normal progression that's explicitly called out as "not grounds for AU tag" in that tag description page I can't find the link to.

>>
>>26882377
no dumbass. I know this is too confusing and it isn't really your fault, but I've been in the fanfiction game for fucking eons, so I happen to know esoteric and useless bullshit like this. The other guy makes the best point possible in the now instance but to really understand what the hell it means in a grander context you have to understand the tag that MLP is not using: Divergant Universe.

An alternate universe has apperantly maintained its original meaning, but MLP and FIMfiction do not offer a tag for divergant universes, which is basically a canon until X happens, which is often the premise of many a fanfic. A true au as defined earlier is one that breaks from the setting mold entirely in some kind of fundamental way, whether its rule 63 or a bunch of grizzled horse people watching my little human friendship is magic to unwind, all the way to the most extreme like day of a wasp and spider.

>>26882405
>1900 britain.
I dont know, something about that doesn't seem right. mostly the ocean going part. Equestria also apparently has very medieval map making and border keeping. Equestria is a huge country, but they don't have extremely strong international ties.
>>
>>26882673
> but they don't have extremely strong international ties.

Old colonies are pissed off from being rejected
^:^)

I'm just basing it off the fact that Equestria is based on a royal leader they all love and support, and it being so centered around the sun (The sun never sets on the British Empire, and Celestia, if she was a douche, could do the same for Equestria.)

But for technology, I think 1900 is undeniable.

>First part

I really don't know, some readers will think it's AU since what I mentioned. I'll just slap on the tag anyways, and remove it if anyone dislikes it.
>>
>>26882742
Oh yeah, forgot the anthem to follow it.

When Ponies first, at the sun's command
Arose from out the frozen main
Arose, arose from out the frozen main
This was the charter, the charter of the land
And all ponies sang this strain:

Refrain

Rule, Equestria! Equestria rules all space!
Ponies never again shall be slaves.
(bis)

Foreign kingdoms not so blessed as thee,
Must in their turn to hatred fall,
Must in their turn, to hatred fall.
While thou shall flourish, great from unity
The dread and envy of them all.

Refrain

>>
>>26882377
OK, I want to make sure I understand your point of view correctly.

Consider a fic about Luna that diverges from canon immediately after S1. She's the princess of the moon, banished 1000 years, and so on, but no ye olde english, no nightmare night, etc. AU, or not AU? (More specifically: based only on this information, would you consider the fic to require an AU tag, or is possible for all these things to be true in a fic and the fic is not AU?)

Consider a fic about Bon-Bon being a changeling that diverges from canon after S2. So no mention of secret monster hunting agencies. AU, or not AU?

Consider a fic about Twilight that diverges from canon prior to S3. She's still a unicorn and lives in the treebrary. AU, or not AU?

Do your answers change if each fic was written around the time it diverged from canon? (S1-S2 hiatus for the first one, and so on)
>>
>>26883279
That anthem is all about how great Britain is and how jelly other countries are. I don't know about you guys, but the Polish anthem is about how Poland will never perish as long as we live and that we'll fight for it if we need to.

AU

>Bon Bon
Non-AU, since BB doesn't even play a major role in the show except SoL.

>Twalot
AU definitely.

>If they were written around the time

Unless no substantial information was given before the fic was written, I'd still tag it as AU, especially if it involves a major character (Luna and Twi)

>>26883354
Canada's anthem talks about how god himself is keeping our country and how our past is "glorious" and how we're stronk. Most countries stand along those lines for their anthems.
>>
>>26883491

Not that Anon, but you said "a fic about Twilight that diverges from canon prior to S3"

I guess it would depend on what the divergence is, wouldn't it? If it's just Twilight not being an alicorn, or no mention to the Crystal Empire, I don't think an AU tag is necessary.

Here's what the tag info on FiMFic says about it:

Alternate Universe

Stories that take place in a world significantly diverged from canon. Changing the outcome of major events, large setting changes, or anything else that represents a large break from canon, particularly if the change is something that does not happen during the story itself. Stories that start at a point in canon and diverge through character development or other in-story events generally do not qualify as AU.
>>
>>26883705
>the tag info on FiMFic
FUCKING THANK YOU
What's the link to that? I remember reading it but couldn't find it from either the rules or the FAQ page.

>>26883699
I don't understand your answer at all, but whatever, it doesn't really matter.
> Stories that start at a point in canon and diverge through character development or other in-story events generally do not qualify as AU.

>>
>>26883740
k den, no AU tag.

And I believe the link is Ezn's guide.
>>
>>26883325
All of those things are Divergent Universes. there needs to be some kind of fundamental change. for example, Celestia is the one banished and luna rules over equestria. that is an AU.
>>
>>26883740
But he just said that in NH no major villains appear after a certain point in time, so that falls under
>Changing the outcome of major events, large setting changes, or anything else that represents a large break from canon, particularly if the change is something that does not happen during the story itself.
Therefore, it should be tagges as an AU.
>>
>>26883930
Except there's an explicit exemption for changes that follow on from events in the fic:
> Stories that start at a point in canon and diverge through character development or other in-story events generally do not qualify as AU.

Basically, AU is for when you make major revisions to the setting / lore. NMM won, no rainboom, that kind of thing. It's not for fics where stuff happens that doesn't happen in canon, because that is ALL FICS. And it's not for fics that contradict parts of canon that were released AFTER THE FIC WAS WRITTEN, because that is fucking stupid.
>>
>>26884313
You missed my point, stuff that happens in canon DIDN'T happen in this story.
>>
>>26884333
I cannot believe you are actually this dense. I have run out of patience for dealing with your stupidity. Maybe that other anon will try to explain this shit in a way you can comprehend.

>inb4 claims of elaborate ruse
>>
>>26884397
Whoa man, what are you even upset about? There's no need to resort to shittalking, I thought we were having a calm discussion until you dropped this bomb.
Stuff that happens in the show doesn't happen in his story, not the other way around, and according to that tag info, that deserves an AU tag.
Sure I'm nitpicking and sure it's stupid, but it's a very poorly worded rule.
>>
>>26884438
>>26884333
>>stuff that happens in the show
all you have given us to go on is "everything is the same except after this point in canon stuff changes"

thats not a fucking AU. we (like 4-5 unique posters) explained it to you and you are not buying it, of course people are going to get frustrated.
>>
>>26884465
I'm not Autismo, I'm going off on something he said earlier in the thread, I just joined a discussion so I assumed people involved actually read the other posts.

>4-5
You mean you and the other guy?
>>
>>26884438
Unless it's a direct subversion of something that happened in the show, it doesn't deserve a AU tag. Simple as that.

A background for Starlight different than the one shown in the finale? AU
Starlight plotting a different scheme for control of Equestria or whatever she wanted to do? AU
A story with its own setting that uses Starlight's character in a way to further develop the plot? Not an AU.
>>
>>26884493
I think you got those mixed uo.
>>
>>26884438
You are literally telling people to mistag their stories. You've told Autismo to mistag NH 2 or 3 times now. We had this same conversation every time.and yet you still maintain this bizarre view of the correct use of the AU tag, which makes the tag meaningless and which contradicts the views of everyone ITT, the fimfiction mods, and any reasonable interpretation of the rules as written.

Not to me. Twilight's mom and her's do though. It's like how Twilight would sound in thirty years.

>>26879890
I'd say Shimmer still being evil could qualify as being "significantly diverged" given she appears to be a major character going forward.

Although, if I were tagging it, I'd leave the AU tag out as it's more supposed to be for "total AU" scenarios rather than "canon didn't go the way my fanfic did." For those, you have Author Notes.

>>26880344
None of my upcoming fanfic ideas need to incorporate it.

A simple plot involving a single character. "Twilight files her taxes," "Dash has a picnic with Fluttershy," "Pinkie slips on pudding and falls into an ad hoc portal to a universe made of spaghetti." If you can sum up the entire plot in a single, simple sentence, you have the makings of a oneshot.

Think of the classic and derided "Proper Noun Verbs Article Common Noun" stories.

>>26888218
No, that's me.
And I never said FH is a Mary Sue (She needs to be an actual character for that), what I detest is how sickeningly comercial she is.
I mean, the show is a comercial, nothing new aboutr that. But FH took it far further than any other character.
>>
>>26888243
As if Flashlight and Twilicorn wasn't enough.
>>
>>26888243
She's literally just something to spice things up a little, and a decent plot point for the writers to do some minor alicorn lorebuilding and possibly set up a few episodes or a story arc in the future.
I don't see how she's any more "commercial" than any other character. And she obviously doesn't have a personality, she's just a baby.

>I never said FH is a Mary Sue
Sorry about that then, it's just the impression I got after you complained about her being super special and OP.
>>
>>26888272
>it's just the impression I got after you complained about her being super special and OP.
That's part of it. Part of selling a character is talking about how powerful and speshul said character is.
But my main point on this is how she, for example, doesn't go for longer than three seconds without making "Cute" baby noises in any of her scenes. And she is terribly powerful, even for baby magic outburst. She makes over a dozen holes in the crystal castle in the episode.
Also the design is uncanny valley IMO.
That's not to say I didn't like some things about the episode-- Shinning Armor falling to pieces over fatherhood had me laughing, for example.
>>
>>26888266
Twilicorn was bad because she didn't do anything to deserve it in that specific episode to warrant alicorn ascension. If they did after a really important two-parter, it would at least make sense.
Flashlight was bad because Flash was an awkwardly forced love interest that existed solely to complete the generic high school setting. Thankfully they dropped the idea and Twilight barely even interacts with him in any of the movies.
Flurry Heart, on the other hand, provides a good excuse to provide viewers with some information about alicorns, as well as a plot point for setting up future episodes. Compared to her, Shining Armor's sudden appearance was the blunder of the century.
>>
>>26888283
>some information about alicorns
except for the whole 'its different than any other known alicorn' thing
>>
>>26888295
I wish they had just taken the "Its a unicorn who can glide for a while" route.
Someone born with that much power, without doing anything to earn it, seems like a recipe for a Discord-esque villain.
Now that's an idea. Tyrant Flurry Heart a few thousand years in the future. I'll have to fuck around with it to see if something comes out.
>>
>>26888281
>Part of selling a character is talking about how powerful and speshul said character is.
But, as I explained to you, her magic outbursts were just like the unicorn magic outbursts in that episode where Pinkie takes care of the Cakes' children, it was more powerful simply because she's an alicorn, and she's special because she was BORN an alicorn, which tells us a bit more about Cadence, Celestia and Luna and sets up a possible mystery plot - WHY was she born a unicorn? We could see it explained in the season finale.
>But my main point on this is how she, for example, doesn't go for longer than three seconds without making "Cute" baby noises in any of her scenes.
Eh, that's just how babies work in any media.

>And she is terribly powerful, even for baby magic outburst.
It's just because she's an alicorn, an incredibly powerful race. A baby unicorn has already been shown to use some ridiculous magic powers, it makes sense that an alicorn would be even worse.

>Also the design is uncanny valley IMO.
That's just how babies look in MLP. I remember when everyone was going crazy over how creepy the first pony baby we've seen looks like. Pic related.
>>
>>26888295
It tells us that there has never been a born alicorn before, they have to do something to ascend.
That means that Luna and Celestia used to be normal ponies, until they did SOMETHING during Discord's rule that granted them alicornhood and the power to defeat him. It might be tied to the Elements og Harmony.

>>26888313
She'll most likely just be a Cadence-level alicorn in the future. What we'll actually see in the show will be her growing up, learning to use magic etc. like they hinted at in the episode when they were talking about Sunburst teaching her in the future.

everything related to alicorn reproduction, IE theyre rare because they implicitly cant reproduce, and yet flurry hearts existance basically says that alicorns should be everywhere, as we have two females for milenia, and then you'd have that baby, and then their babys baby, and so on. it completely trivializes celestias relationship with both luna and twilight, as an alicorns life span makes it fucking clear that celestia has been grooming twilight carefuly to become one, but it turns out all that care and work twilight did is completely unneccissary, you just have to be an alicorn and fuck litterally anybody; tada, alicorn baby, someone to share eternity with.
>>
>>26889403
Most of that is headcanon, but it's good and reasonable headcanon, and way more interesting than the shitty actual-canon we got yesterday.

And a socially retarded introvert who probably thinks cooties are a communicable disease, and is related to 3 of the 4 males she knows.

Slutenza mi amore is simply the only alicorn in several millennia that has managed to get fucked at least once. if the others were more approachable then alicorns might actually be a viable 4th race and not the freaky oddities that they are

How do you master it then? We know it isn't decided from birth, since Twalot could barely crack open an egg, and here she is as one of the best unicorn, a dozen or so years later.

>UNBELIEVABLE
You are taking it out of context. In-world, babies come from the mysterious land of between episodes, and nothing has proved the oposite.
>has provided us with plenty of lore to work with
You could put it in two or three pages at most.
Hell, you can barely call it lore. Its like calling a virus a living being-- it fills the basic quota of duplicating, but scratches so much at the edges of it that are left scratching your head.
>>
>>26895683
>In-world, babies come from the mysterious land of between episodes, and nothing has proved the oposite.
For obvious fucking reasons, but the goddamn show creator, Lauren Faust herself, has confirmed that ponies reproduce by having sex. Let's not be fucking retarded here.

Lore doesn't mean 30 million words of worthless fluff, like in TES, it means worthwhile information about the fictional world.
>>
>>26895719
>it means worthwhile information about the fictional world.
Again, we've been barely given any info. Its the reason people like worldbuilding so much, because there are so many blank spaces to fill.
Lets make an experiment. Read this: http://pastebin.com/raw/pzVhMgyb
Bang. I made a lore. Discuss autistically about the boom:ship rate.
For obvious reasons, "Lore" is generally used when there is a minimal ammount of information, even if (Tecnically) it is applicable in both MLP and my example.

And, like I said, it's all you really need. What, do you want to know all 1366 traditional changeling prayers and 78 casual greetings? It would never matter and be useless fluff, written for the sake of being written.
Ignoring the fact that MLP is just a cartoon that focuses on Slice of Life stuff and not an RPG series heavily focused on worldbuilding, TES lore is a huge mess of pointless crap and should never be an example of good lore building, especially since all the info is provided in long, raw data dumps with characters explaining stuff that are common knowledge in-universe. It's an absolute blunder in terms of writing.

Wait why is the post deleted? weird. And >changing the goal so blatantly
Give me a single example of infodumps, because in no game I've played have I been given one. If you want lore in TES, you either asks explicitly someone who knows or go fishing for books. And TES lore is simply the best example of videogames, and a pretty respectable one regardless of context.
>>
>>26896055
No idea, I thought you deleted it because maybe you wanted to change something.

I didn't "change the goal", all I'm doing is addressing your own points.

>Give me a single example of infodumps, because in no game I've played have I been given one. If you want lore in TES, you either asks explicitly someone who knows or go fishing for books.
Right here. To get any information about the world, you have to read 30 paragraphs of an NPC dumping information on you, which are often common knowledge, like people, places or events. It's definitely not as bad in Skyrim, but older games definitely have this problem.
It's not a good example of lore, it's just an example of overcomplicated lore. It's filled with fluff, the interesting bits are buried underneath pages of text, and you have to actively TRY to find info dumps if you want to learn anything that matters.
>>
>>26896175
>No idea, I thought you deleted
Huh, system must've farted.
>you have to read 30 paragraphs of an NPC dumping information on you, which are often common knowledge, like people, places or events
Whaaaaat duuuuuuuuuude?
No NPC gives you obvious info-dumps, the only one I can think about right now is a Telvanni who gives you information not found in any other place or game, and as I said you have to ask him explicitly about it.
Thinking about it... if you ask (Again, explicitly) about the locations of cities, something than an outsider (Which you are) might not know, they give you quick info of how to get there, things like "Turn south in the crossway between Caldera and Balmora"
But again, you are changing the goal. All I did was make a single mention of TES, if you don't have arguments stop with the hot air.
>>
>>26896262
Well, see, I disagree. In Morrowind and Oblivion all you get in terms of dialogue is asking a question about a quest or about the world. Then the NPC drops a full paragraph on you about that topic.
The only other means of getting information about the lore is reading in-game books, which are full of fluff themselves.

>But again, you are changing the goal. All I did was make a single mention of TES, if you don't have arguments stop with the hot air.
I'm sorry, what? I was the one who mentioned TES, and you're the one who started heavily focusing on it.

>>
>>26896175
>>26896331

Another anon than >>26896262

Even in Skyrim infodump is omnipresent, while more in-universe with books and villagers. But then, a game/show's purpose is to do general worldbuilding, leaving the obscure parts to us writers.
>>
>>26896331
> Then the NPC drops a full paragraph on you about that topic.
We both know that's a lie. Oblivion has very little dialogue compared to older TES games and in Morrowind you have to ask for directions to get, for example
>"Old Caius rents a little bed-and-basket just up the hill on the north edge of town. Go out the front door -- NOT the upper door to the terrace -- then right up the stairs, then left at the top of the stairs and down to the end of the street."
Which isn't even fifty words. Wow such infodump
>and you're the one who started heavily focusing on it.
Nope. I said,
>If I wanted to give an example about TES I'd write something quickly about the Dunmer and ancestor worship
And then you changed the argument to
>Lol TES lore a shit anyway
>>26896424
>Even in Skyrim infodump is omnipresent
Haven't played it personally, but I've seen little to prove such a thing.

Honestly, I am done with arguing with someone who doesn't have any proof behind his arguments. I'll go do something more productive like watching paint dry.
>>
>>26896494
And where is your proof, my fine sir?
>>
>>26896494
It's not very little if literally all they say is something about the world. Asking about the way doesn't count because it's fucking mandatory in Morrowind and part of gameplay more than dialogue.

>Nope. I said,
>>If I wanted to give an example about TES I'd write something quickly about the Dunmer and ancestor worship
>And then you changed the argument to
>>Lol TES lore a shit anyway
Holy shit, you're actually in denial. I mentioned TES and how its lore isn't very good and then you mentioned the Dunmer in the next post. Re-read the last few posts.

>Honestly, I am done with arguing with someone who doesn't have any proof behind his arguments.

>>26885960

I don't ever recall that being mentioned in an episode, or even comic or book for that matter.

I'm looking for an old fic that my friend wrote. I can't ask him about it for reasons. I've read it and it's actual pretty good. Each chapter focuses on a different member of the mane 6, plus a chapter about Derpy. It does the cliched pinkie is depressed thing. RD gets addicted to berries I think. Rarity goes broke. Fluttershy ends up being shipped with RD. AJ likes RD also but dates Golden Harvest or Carrot Top or whatever for a little. I have no idea what Twilights chapter is about. In Derpys chapter you learn why shes retarted, and it turns out shes a spy (I think?)

There's a sequel where Twilight thinks she killed another pony and goes insane trying to hide it.

I know I haven't explained this very well, I'm on phone and it takes me years to type on phone. I can give a little more info on the chapters if needed when I get home. I've been looking for this for ages and any help would be appreciated
>>

I want a story where Twilight thinks she is kill.
>>
>>26898321
havent seen that. have seen one where she thinks she no kill but is
>>
>>26898260
Ok, now that I'm home I can expand on this a little.
Not much I can really add about the Pinkie chapter, Dash finds out she's depressed and she cries into her alot. Dash kinda gets annoyed having her constantly cry into her all the time.

Dash broke her wing or something and Flutterbut gave her some pain med berries. Long story short she gets addicted to them, finds a whole heap of them in the forest and practically dies. Twilight rocks up and does some voodoo magicks where she swaps Flutterbutts life force with Dash, and then she lives somehow. through FRIENDSHIP I guess
Now that I think about it, I think Rarity goes broke in the sequel, so not going to expand on it.
Flutterbut gets with Dash after the berry thing, but Dash ends up not being a les and leaves her.
Not much I can add to the bestpone part, she likes Dash and dates some background pony. I'm pretty sure she ends up in a fight with Dash for one reason or another. (As in a full on, break some bones fight)
Twilight's chapter I think is about her finding out the real reason why Celestia banished Luna.
Derpy's chapter is set right after the first Gilda episode, and she has flashbacks to when she was a spy or something. She got into a fight with some griffons or something that killed the parents of the filly version of her. Not much else I can remember about it.

In the sequel, the pony that Twilight kills is the owner of the joke shop. She goes crazy trying to hide it, eye twitches and all.
Also in the sequel, Flutterbutt goes sent to an asylum, and I think it was because of Twilight trying to cover her ass, where she's pretty much declared insane because she can commune with animals and stuff.
The nurse that declared her insane is the same pony that Twilight thought she had killed.

That's all I've got, that's the best I can do. I've been searching for this for weeks.

I know it probably sounds like a retarded story but it actually is written very well.

Remember that cunt that posted about this thing some time ago?
Shit happened, haven't had the chance to write more.
But I still got better ideas.

Current general plotline:
>Celestia dies due to magical shock.
>Twilight tries desperately to bring her back, using all manners of magic and technology, yet failing each time
>The worst possible scenario happens, as the Sun slowly fades out as well
>Soon after, Luna dies as the Moon goes forever dark
>Twilight slowly spirals into depression, not even her friends are capable of bringing her back up
>At her lowest, she is confronted by what she thinks are "elder gods" that want to end Equestria
>She commits the ultimate sacrifice; restoring Equestria's Sun by throwing all her and, by extension, all other magic out
>So the aspect of Magic fades out
>Fade to black, in the year 3XXX after the Dawn of the Crimson Sun
>Mother closes the binders of an archaic-looking book depicting the fairy tales of princesses, love and friendship, closes the metallic blinders looking directly into the Crimson Sun through transparent aluminum, and bids her foal good sleep.

>The Crimson Sun soon begins fading as the last bits of magic feeding it putter out, and the interstellar egalitocracy of Equestria is forced to expand out into surrounding stars obscured by relativistic haze
>Cue the rediscovery of the power of Friendship on a grasshopper-style jump ship

The elder gods extinguishing the Equestrian sun bit? Actually the laws of thermodynamics in action. The use of Magic was pushing against a virtual boundary, stretching the limits of transfer of energy until it just... gave way. All that magic getting channeled into the Sun literally pushed it through the universe, instead of simply moving it. The same damaged space-time fabric also caused the manipulation of the Moon to fail, as well as any spells getting used - they quickly lost on effectiveness and fizzled out. "Elder gods" was just mental exhaustion.

BEHOLD, TRUE LITERATURE.

Act I
Chapter I
“At least, I hope it’s mud.”

Daring Do inhaled a breath of the sticky jungle air, placing one hoof in front of the other as she trudged through the Jungle of Terror, her hooves dragging through the endless mud.
Only it wasn't mud, it was an entire field full of semen.
All of a sudden, a pack of wild niggers jumped out.
"OOGA BOOGA, WHERE THE WHITE FILLIES AT?" they shouted
Finally she saw it, the ancient temple that must be home to the treasure the old mare at the tavern had mentioned.
Daring Do tried to remain calm, lest she falter on her quest for the golden dildo.
Daring was quick to fly away, because she's a fucking pegasus
The master chief came in and deliverd a pack of Doritos brand corn chips™ and Mountain dew™.
Daring pulled her anti-nigger rifle out of her ass and shot the nigger menace to death.
“Go away, MXleo1, no one wants you.”
Then
Here, alone in the wilderness, free of the reins of restrictive, civilized behavior, I, Daring Do, feel no shame in admitting I am a cum hungry slut and the pretense of hunting for ancient treasure, the lie I used to misappropiate the funds necessary to facilitate my travel to this ancient, wicked place in search of the fountain of eternal semen, the only resevoir of such perverted decadence that could ever sate my endlessly unquenchable desire in either my mouth or, dare I say, nethers for untold gallons of the pearly white substance in such great quantity that no one stallion could ever please me.
"What the fuck is is with all the bull shit around here, I just want to get fucked bya gold dildo, is that so much to ask?"
“Get out of here, stalker”
“Holy shit I'm dying here.”

I don't know if you're still here, anon, but there's a bit of a story behind that, that I'd like to share.

In a sense, the United States was a victim of its own success. Their strategic bombing of the home isles had done an incredible amount of damage, not to industry as they had hoped, but to communications infrastructure. The rail network had been shattered, the roads were broken, and radio was getting increasingly patchy as stations went offline. Hiroshima stations had been experiencing failures for some time, because of previous air raids on the military base in town, with periodic outages.

Hiroshima is built on relatively flat land. Because of this, when the bomb was dropped, on the 6th, there was very little to divert the blast. Every single line of communication to Japanese High Command was vaporized. At first, it was believed that a minor raid had knocked out the radio again, and so nothing was done. When the silence wore on longer than usual, an observer was sent, who reported back that Hiroshima was almost completely destroyed. Unfortunately, this didn't occur until late in the day on the 8th, two days after the bomb was dropped. The Americans didn't know about the communications failures, so they believed the Japanese were being obstinate.

On the morning of the 9th, the Soviets began operations against the remaining Japanese force in mainland China. The Western Allies, (that is Britain, France, the Commonwealth nations, and the United States), wanted to limit Soviet power however they could. After all, by this point, the Red Army outnumbered all of their fighting forces three times over. In order to lock the USSR out of negotiations with Japan, and to keep them out of Asia and the Pacific in the post war years, the decision was made to drop a second bomb, to speed the Japanese into an unconditional surrender.

"Edgy" is making something needlessly gory and dark. If you're doing cosmic horror, you probably won't have that problem, but ask yourself if characters are staying in character (they rarely are when a story is actually edgy), and if the gore is just there for a cheap shock or does the story support its presence at this particular point.

Should this be enough for an AU tag on NH?
>>
>>26911403
I'd say yes. Depending on when the story starts, you might be able to get away with not having one, but in your case no one will sperg out and tell you to remove the AU tag if you have it, while some people will tell you to add it if you don't.

I'm planning on having a sequel if any being based on Starlight fucking up in attempt to redeem her friend, and sending the protagonists to fix it, eventually realizing the only way to get the timeline right is to replace Twilight at the wedding by her present-time one to stop Chrysalis.

Also because Cadence stopping Chrysalis would provide Celestia with a second plan in case the elements fail. When she doesn't, Phoenix's remains are seen as the only viable alternatives.

>>26897591
>what does it take
Good grammar/structure. Bonus points for a /lit/-tier plot, as in, something incredibly pretentious and confusing. White Out's (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/257996/white-out) a good example.

I've never gotten featured there so I can't say definitely, but I don't really think so. Back in the day? Absolutely. But now stories that get featured there barely get any traffic from them. Fimfiction totally conquered EQD's fanfic status.

Even the "prestigious" status isn't worth what it once was due to the fact they axed their star ratings and there's dozens of review groups on Fimfiction these days.

>>26898260
>goes insane trying to hide it
I recognize that anywhere. Pony Psychology Series (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/183/pony-psychology-series). Twilight's chapter was one of the very rare Who Wants to Live Forever? non-Twilicorn stories out there.

But, the moon only reflects light, it doesn't generate any. It would still be there, so why would Luna die?

I still like the "Luna lied about being able to succeed Celestia and exiles herself in shame/anger" idea more. Especially since it plugs two plot points (Celestia's succession plan and Luna).

So, is that the backstory or the actual plot? If it's the backstory, then I have to wonder what the actual plot is, since it sounds like a standard "planet/anomaly of the week" Sci-fi kind of thing.

The most purpose of an outline is (Afaik) to get the juices flowing before the writing itself starts, so you can get creative while being able to edit past events to keep it consistent without much dificulty.

If your story idea is the setup, and you're not quite sure where you're going with it, making an outline can help you think through what you're doing. Or if you know where you're going but don't know quite how you're getting there, blocking out an outline can help. Or if you're doing something lengthy, an outline can help you keep track of where you want to make revelations and help you keep the flow of the story focused, and juggle characters if you have a large cast, so that someone doesn't disappear for six chapters and then your reader is scratching their head when they show up again.

That's grey-gray, not white-white. White-white is about two groups with almost no darker/worst sides to counter their ideals, while grey-gray is about two groups with ideals, justifications and willing to go to certain means to achieve their goals.

White VS White would be like a philosophical stand-off, or even a fair court trial, where both sides are good and have valuable arguments, but won't do anything bad. Grey-gray is like real life, where both sides aren't totally good or evil, and still fight each other. If the whites or one of them began doing something bad, it would become white-grey or grey-gray instead of staying white-white.

And do you even know what a dystopia means? By definition one of the sides isn't totally white.

This is what Somber said 5 years ago.

Dude, you've got an edgy spin-off of a popular fic. Who nees planning?

It's sad, the first 30 or so chapter of PH were quite decent, but Somber slowly descended into sadistic and autistic madness when Kkat said she won't read FoE spinoffs.

In that case try:
-How to Woo Your Lady in Nine Easy Steps.
-The Surprisingly Complicated Love Life of Spike the Dragon (not a winningverse story, despite the title)
-Rumble and Tumble
>>
>>26917172
Read the first one, it's short and not very interesting.
Heard of the second one, thought it was a random Winningverse spin-off. Then again, I've finished Life and Times so I'd read it anyway. Sounds interesting though.
Rumble and Tumble sounds cute, I'll check it out too.
Thanks.

I have a perfect solution.
Replace Rarity with Starlight. You'd be the first person to write a Starlike fic, and it's the new hotness on the block right now.

It's a bit odd to me, to see people jump on it so willingly when it has the exact same problem most people have with Sparity, i.e., a significant age and species difference. If anything Starlight seems even older. Makes me wonder if the real problem people have with Sparity lies elsewhere, i.e. the waifu factor. Or perhaps not liking the idea of a boy holding onto a crush until he's of age to do anything about it, aka the Anakin/Padme scenario that was just so trashily written people are vicariously squicked out by anything remotely similar.

HAVING SAID ALL THAT, to actually answer your question, I'm kinda indifferent to it so far, I tend not to few common character interactions as shipping fuel; and then Lumineko did that hilariously perfect piece of Starlight walking in on Spike making out with his Rarity plush and that pretty much obliterated any chance of me swaying away from my favorite ship anyway.

>>26917657
I marked it up for you a whole bunch. Are you the same guy last thread who asked about the dots at the ends of sentences? Because you have big problems with not using periods at the ends of sentences. Also when it comes to formatting dialogue correctly, here is the general rule: If the dialogue tag is 'X said,' or some variation of a word that actually refers to speaking, then the dialogue ends with a comma and the first word outside the quote is lowercase, unless it's a proper name. If there is no dialogue tag after the quote, or the character performs some action other than a variant of 'said,' the dialogue ends in a period and the next word is capitalized like the normal start of a sentence. Make sense?

As for where to go from there, that's one hell of a plot hook Twilight left for you. Explore that lack of trust from Twilight and see if it sows the seeds of doubt in Spike before Starlight ultimately reaches vindication and a heartwarming conclusion. Hope that helps.

How the fuck do you call that room Starlight imprisoned the Mane Six in in the s5 premiere? I'm trying to find a YT clip of it, but all I ever get is "In Our Town".
>>
>>26918341
What she did was, in theory, solitary confinement.
But it was kinda shitted by doing COLECTIVE solitary confinement.
It could also be called indoctrination room I guess.
>>
>>26908434

For long fics with lots of character interactions that really let you get comfortable with the characters, I'd recommend:

A Delicate Balance (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/31793/a-delicate-balance)

Green (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/19247/green)

The Royal Ponyville Orchestra (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/95013/the-royal-ponyville-orchestra)

Eyes on You (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/7531/eyes-on-you)

Other good romance fics with a slower, SoL-style pace:

The Gentle Nights: Audience of One (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/213853/the-gentle-nights-audience-of-one) - my personal favourite romance fic

The Travelling Tutor and the Librarian (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/67042/the-traveling-tutor-and-the-librarian)

The Diamond in the Stars (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/276745/the-diamond-in-the-stars) - I`d recommend reading the prequel first, though

Lost Time (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/304593/lost-time)

Also, this one, which I'm not sure how to characterize but is long-ish (74k words), has good characters, and makes for a pleasant read (cancerino can probably tell you more about it):

Her Majesty's Secret Service (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/99526/her-majestys-secret-service)
>>
>>26918376
Damn, that's a lot of recommendations. I haven't heard about a lot of these, so thank you, Anon. I'll check them out.

>cancerino
Glad my memery has stuck.
>>
>>26918376
Oh, this one too: http://www.fimfiction.net/story/34029/best-young-flyer

Actually, any of bookplayer's longer romance fics would work. She's a master at wiritng realistic romance, mostly because she's actually married and has a kid.

>>26918391
No problem. If you like Travelling Tutor, I'd recommend looking at other works by Georg (Travelling Tutor is part of a series of stories of varying genre, but he also has some nice romantic one-offs of about 60-90k word length) and if you like Royal Ponyville Orchestra and Diamond in the Stars I'd recommend that you read the other works by Distaff Pope in the same series.
>>
>>26918423
And these are a little short for your criterion, but are still very well-written romances:

http://www.fimfiction.net/story/84903/twice-as-bright

http://www.fimfiction.net/story/123296/taken-for-granite
>>
>>26918376
It's predominantly romance, yeah. Not sure how else to categorize it, really.

Other than that it's also occasionally porny, anyway.

But yeah if you wanna read a fanfic about how Twilight's parents got together and also had a threesome with Celestia, go for it.
>>
>>26918449
Also, you might find these interesting. They're collections of one-shot minifics each following one particular couple, which provide a very SoL feel.

http://www.fimfiction.net/story/63377/the-rustic-and-the-romantic

http://www.fimfiction.net/story/62270/lunas-librarian-twilights-moon

http://www.fimfiction.net/story/67505/egghead-and-featherbrain

http://www.fimfiction.net/story/71263/if-the-flight-suit-fits

And I'll stop spamming up the threads now. If you have any questions about any of these stories I'll be happy to answer.

>Are you the same guy last thread who asked about the dots at the ends of sentences?
Yeah, I tried to keep to it this time but forming new writing habits takes its time. The fact of that no spellchecker warns you about this -which is why I hadn't noticed until pretty recently- also makes it harder.
In general I've learned English at my own pace and mostly thanks to this thread actually and with quite a few scraps, but I find it fun
>I marked it up for you a whole bunch.
Thanks man, I always apreciate that.
>As for where to go from there, that's one hell of a plot hook Twilight left for you
Yeah, my idea was that besides the main plot of SpikeXStarlight there'd be
>>Main six not trusting Starlight all that much, Starlight being stuck with the little bit of extra agresivity towards her because a whelp has a crush in her
>>Spike managing to confess that he had a crush on Rarity. Even if everyone knows it, he needs to get closure before really moving on
But its still really barebones IMO, there is a diference between having three plot ideas and having three plots.

I'm not a native speaker, and here's what makes it easy to understand for me:
Every story written in English is told from the perspective of the narrator, including the dialogue itself, which is why it uses quotation marks - the narrator is actually quoting the character. When there's "X said" after something the character said, the dialogue should end in a comma because the narrator didn't finish the sentence yet - to him, the end is when he finished describing what the character did, and that includes speaking.
Other languages don't use quotation marks because they treat narration a little bit differently.
Did you try reading the guide in the OP?
>>
>>26918617
EZN? Yeah... like a year and ahalf ago iirc. I'll have another go with it.

Huh, I never thought about it like that before, but now that you say it, it makes a shocking amount of sense. And this is coming from a native English speaker. Nice analogy.

You know, I think that explains it better than any other guide to writing I've seen.

Also, for those who don't get it, don't feel bad; I'm a native speaker and I still had no idea how punctuation in dialogue worked until about a year ago, and even then, I keep forgetting the rules. They teach it to us in like fourth grade and then it never came up for me again because none of my teachers ever pointed out my mistakes and after elementary it's pretty much all essays.
>>
>>26920153
Yeah, it's really weird how it never actually comes up if you don't ask. And I've been going around in English forums and boards for years, having changed my names set three times by now.
For example a kind anon pointed me out that "It's" and "Its" are actually two diferent words to me a few months ago in one of the first GDocs I posted here. But I probably wouldn't have found out about this tidbit of punctuation rules for years if I hadn't gone out of my way to ask after I realized that it was, in fact, a thing.
>>
>>26920865
Not really. The difference between it's and its is obvious and many people on the internet point this out just as much as they're, their, there. I've personally learned the differences in elementary school back in Poland.
>>
>>26920865
The its/it's thing I only know because I grew up with Grammar Nazis as my best friends. Otherwise, I'd probably only have learned it a couple years ago when I started writing and decided to read guides on how to English properly (which is also when I finally learned how to properly use commas. And what semicolons actually do). Now that I think about it, there's probably a lot of grammar stuff I wouldn't know if I wasn't an avid reader/writer since it never really comes up beyond early high school as long as you have the basics down.

I kinda want to see how grammar skills vary between middle schoolers, high schoolers, uni students, adults, and between those who write/edit recreationally and those who don't. I used to think that there wouldn't be a big difference between those who write a lot and those who don't, but thinking of all those random rules no one really seems to know even in English-speaking countries makes me wonder.

It's always advisable to do an outline for your story, so you know how the plot will go, when to foreshadow, how to organize subplots, etc. "Seat of the pants" writing can doom a fanfic really fast if it has a somewhat complex plot, and is probably the #1 cause of shitty endings--which is why so many fanfics have disappointing endings. So few actually plan their stories out ahead of time.

It's even more important for a collab, so all the authors can be on the same page and know what the fuck's going on. You don't want someone to kill off a character that's vital to the resolution, or tie up a subplot before its payoff.

>>26915804

>>26917657
Left some comments. Remember that m-dashes (--) are used when there's a--woah--quite sudden stop in word flow or a character is cut off.

I noticed one potential issue. Spike states he's eighteen yet this seems to take place shortly after the events of Crystalling (Twilight still doesn't trust Starlight, she references the events of the episode, etc.) While we could debate Spike's exact age, I think it's pretty clear he's no where near eighteen. Most headcanons have him being 8-12.

If you intend this to be one of those "post-show" fanfics, you want to remember that it's probably been a few years and that things have changed since S6. If you intent it to take place in the vicinity of S6, than Spike can't be eighteen.

Hey /autism/ I did a thing! I've been trying to get this thing done for years. Over the next 11 days of my vacation I plan to finish this beast once and for all. Please r8 n' h8, m8.

My story is about Matt "Hutch" Hutchinson, a computer engineer that loves rides. When he returns from vacation he discovers that he's been assigned to put the finishing touches on a MLP based ride for Universal Studios Florida. I wanted to do a kind of story where the main character is non-brony. Think of him as a kind of "Dr. Grant" sort of character. Please read my story and I hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer-I'm trying to do something a little more serious without being too edgy, so I'm afraid there isn't going to be a lot off horse ass in this story. Sorry to disappoint any of the perverts in the audience.
>>
>>26924327
>8-12
But that'd mean he was like three when they moved to Ponyville, and he was already Twilight's anchor in life.
I mean, the guy is pretty mature for his age (When he isn't plagued with a case of ShittyWriteritis, at least) but a three years old stretches things a tiny little bit I think.
I've always put him around 12-15 when they got to Ponyville, and Twilight being overprotective when she goes about baby dragons.
>>
>>26925209
we really dont know how long theyve been in horsetown though. does 5 seasons mean 5 years? or have they only been there 1-2 years? have any holidays repeated? have we seen more than one winter?

wasnt there another summer sun celebration in S4? maybe theyve only been there for a year. its not like anyone has really matured much.

twilight has grown physically with her mutation, but the kids are still about the same height compared to everyone else.

and remember spike is realistically only 6-8 years younger than twilight. I really dont see her being in her mid 20s yet either
>>
>>26925258
>6-8 years
Yeah, in that I agree. But the main six are all in their twenties, and if five years passed, well.
But I personally find it ballcrushing to try extraplolating information from a show like this. In one hand you have jewbro-- of course kids are still the same as always, new models cost MONEY. What do you think, that they are some kinda international corporation with more money than a small country?
In the other, fantasy. If Spike's aging is related to his greed, he could very well die being still a whelp. Maybe he'll have a hearth attack trying to reach the higher shelf.
>>
>>26924959
>Human

Get out.
>>
>>26925209
>3 when they moved into Ponyville

Since they had that sun fest once and a winter wrap-up once, and only very recently had the second one, it's more like them living 1-2 years in Ponyville.

And remember Twilight hatched Spike she hit puberty, anywhere between 8 and 13, and that she's now probably in her early 20s.
>>
>>26924959
>Human in Equestria
>non-brony

>>
>>26925291
Who knows, maybe dragons just age depending on how big their hoard is. We've seen it happen before.
>>
>>26925628
You still can't argue past that he hatched about 12-8 years ago, and is just hitting puberty right now.
>>
>>26924959
The outline is way too long, no way I'm even slightly interested in this.

>No horse ass

Downvote.
>>
>>26925631
Just to make it clear, I'm not the Anon you were talking to before >>26925628

Technically, I could, because we don't know how old Twilight was when she took the test, how old she was when she left Canterlot or how old she is now. There are so many possible variables that he could be either barely older than a little baby or even an adult. It's not really worth arguing about.
>>
>>26925642
Well, we know she was about the same age as the mane 6 and hitting puberty, placing her, in human standards, around 8-14 years of age. Then, there's the huge debate about how old the mane 6 actually are. I think early-mid 20s is a good shot, correct me if I'm wrong. That gives Spike anywhere from 17 to 6 years of age. It's a big difference, but we know he's also hitting puberty, and therefore still a kid.
>>
>>26925652
>and hitting puberty
How do you know?

>It's a big difference, but we know he's also hitting puberty
How do you know?
>>
>>26925662
>Hitting puberty

Since puberty is generally when a kid gets his own ideas, starts being autonomous from his parents and decides what he's going to do in life, I think we can safely assume cutie marks are an equivalent to it.

>Hitting puberty second time

Well, that's what I would call it when he grows up all of a sudden and becomes awfully bitter towards authority and pretty much anyone.
>>
>>26925291
>hearth attack

>"We always thought the neckbears would be the end of him," Twilight said sadly. "Who could've guessed he'd have a hearth attack?"
>>
>>26925684
That's an absolutely retarded idea. Not only do little kids "hit puberty" in the show, not only can some ponies not get a cutie mark for a long time or get it very early, but there's also no way to measure what "puberty" would be for Spike. You're reaching for any possible analogy to try and calculate their age, but it just isn't possible until the show writers tell us how old they are, and even then it's probably going to contradict evidence.
>>
>>26925691
>not only can some ponies not get a cutie mark for a long time or get it very early

Which is what happens in real life and in the show too.

>but there's also no way to measure what "puberty" would be for Spike

Then what was the greed's effect then? can that at least be interpreted as maturing from the tiny kind baby he is?

>but it just isn't possible until the show writers tell us how old they are

We can always make approximations, based on current characters' capabilities, physical appearance and actual canon evidence. Even though there's some play with her age during the test, you can't get Twilight younger than 7-8, seeing she's already able to read and understand large amounts of literature, and not older than about 13-14, seeing she's going in some kind of primary school, and that she's about the same size as the CMC.
>>
>>26925691
>>26925714

Also

>Not only do little kids "hit puberty"

I wouldn't call ponies who can do a sonic rainboom, design dresses and go on a trip to Manehatten alone "little kids".
>>
>>26925714
>>Then what was the greed's effect then? can that at least be interpreted as maturing from the tiny kind baby he is?
How do you use it calculate his age if a dragon can apparently become adult or a baby at any second depending on how big his hoard is?

>We can always make approximations
Yes, but as you've just admitted, these approximations can vary.
And it's hard to approximate their ages based on school if we know nothing about the schools in Equestria.

>>26925718
And yet you said they're 7-8?

Like I said, this shit is pointless.
>>
>Make him eighteen partially to minimize arguing in the comments on fimfic
>It causes an argument before I even published it
For god's sake.
But no, seriously. At this point I see less than 15-17 as just too young to how he acts. There is being mature for your age and there is a twelve years old acting like he's 30 most of the time. Hell, that's one of his main conflicts, that he's at odds between reading superhero comic books and being as mature as he is.
Anyway, his age would obviously come into play. At some point Starlight would go
>But dude youre penis must be like this small
And then Spike goes like
>I just need to get enough money for my penis to be twice as big as you are
And then they steal a bank, fly into space, and fuck in the moon.
The end.
Jocularity aside, dragon aging would come into play at some point

I'll make up some excuse to explain running over a planet full of pastel horses. Was the excerpt at least half decently written?
>>
>>26923862
If you're going to have an invasion, there better at least be some hot human on horse action.
>>
>Find Starlight's village literally has no name
What would be a good one? The first one to come to my head was Sansbury (I think it was a real city name? Or at least something close?) but it doesn't have any kind of pun, horse or otherwhise.
Maybe Sands Bury, in refference of how it apparently didn't appear in official maps?
>>
>>26926071
Show staff said we can name it ourselves, so the community named it Our Town.
>>
>>26926109
Yeah, I read that. The wikia was my first stop.
I dunno, calling it Our Town here is one thing, but having Our Town be the oficial name would be kinda weird IMO. Like a horse pun that went so far it isn't even a pun anymore.
>>
>>26926125
I personally think it's a really good name, and it's widely agreed upon.
>>
>>26926132
Its too easy to confuse with casual conversation. Characters can't see capps in their dialogue.
>"Get out of our town!"
>"But Our Town is like five hundred miles from here!"
>"I meant this town, you idiot!"
>"But I was already kicked out of This Town last week!"
>>
>>26926144
Oh, you mean just like canon pony names?

Jesus Christ.
>>
>>26926150
Alright. I give up. I worry too much about shit making sense.
I'll just go with Our Town as long as I don't see anything better.
>>
>>26926164
The town doesn't have a name in the canon, Our Town is just what people use to refer to it. You can either leave it nameless or use Our Town, but anything other than that is just stupid.
>>
So...
Is anyone making the new thread?
>>
>>26926168
>but anything other than that is just stupid.
I'll have to disrespectfuly disagree. Giving a city a name isn't stupid, it'll just make autists aim their nuclear headcanons at me (Which would detract from the story, which I don't wantto happen) with letal intent.
It's exactly the same thing as writing an Octavia who doesn't even know Vinyl exists. Don't you laugh at autists who get mad at that?

Fanfiction expands upon cannon!
Oh my gosh!
The horror, THE HORROR!
Unless it was something like "If someone says it's name he dies", giving it a name is justified.
>>
>>26926199
It's not expanding, it's changing it, you braindead fucking ape. It's not that the writers didn't give it a name, IT DOESN'T have a fucking name.

Yes, WHEN REFERRED TO. It doesn't have a name in the show, they just made up a name to make it easier to communicate between each other.

Giving a name to an unnamed place is not changing the canon.
Hence, expanding.
kill urself
>>
>>26926251
You do realise that giving a name to an unnamed place is not the same as giving a name to an intentinally unnamed place, right?
>>
>>26926259
>Intentionally
There is a large diference between "Not doing something" and "Doing something to not".
The principle of Intent is something a kid understands.
>>
>>26926251
It's unnamed in the fucking universe, Starlight didn't give it a name.

I haven't found any reference of her being the cause of its creation. Iirc she just fell upon a nice secluded village.
Villages tend to have some history. History tends to result in names.

Go ahead, if I could remember all the ITT's I'd do it myself.

>Double Diamond: Whoa! These are my old skis! This is where I first met Starlight!
He was skying outside the town when Starlight appeared in the town. The fact that they all have known each other for years is further proof.
The village was probably a small place Startlight found by hapenstance-
>"We all came to this village because we were searching for something missing from our lives"
What the shit.
I am confuss.
So she (aparently) founded the village, but she emptied another village or something.
I don't get you Starlight.
