I really liked the first season, but then in the second I found they really played jump rope on Rick's attitude towards his grandkids. The entire first season he was slowly growing closer to them, and then in the second season he seemed to just reset and forget all of that development. Not to mention he was kind of all over the place during the season regard his feelings for them.

Oddly enough though every other character was developed pretty well.

The last episode was pretty great, and I'm hoping they actually go somewhere with it instead of just resolving it all in one episode.

I can see why they'd dislike this arc, but after reading through a lot of discussion on it here and in other places I can make enough sense of it to be neutral. Hope really has to have been brainwashed and seriously stressed out after losing literally everything like that. It sucks she couldn't have stayed with Celestia and Luna and just left, but she really likes her only friends she had too much. She doesn't have a shred of common sense though. I'd think giving Sombra all that at the cost of her former home being blown the fuck out by changlings would ring a warning bell or three.

They could have probably spent another page on Hope's character development after Sombra was banished and explained why she did what she did.
Not entirely necessary since it is obvious enough from her actions imo, but a lot of people don't seem to like reading between the lines and prefer explicit information over implicit one.

I try not to mindlessly hate things in general, Anon. There have been several issues of the comics that I've enjoyed, and if you're behind the storytimes, thank you.

This arc reminds me in structure and execution of very, very bad capeshit. Worse yet, unlike entertaining dumb capeshit, the problems with characterization and motivation were there since the beginning of the arc and will forever remain unaddressed. Just to name one example, why should the nominally sweet and naive Radiant Hope convince a down on his luck Iron Will to join her treasonous conspiracy by offering him the chance to remind everyone why minotaurs were once feared? There is a lack of internal logic and consistency that I find upsetting.

I'm a cape fan, too. I enjoy pone because it's different.
