Well essentially, what I'm looking at on youtube is that horses will bite, tear, and kick when fighting, leaving gashes and broken bones all over. While most fics seem to be like a terminator fight, where its basically throw the opponent far enough away they leave you alone or buried and immobilized.

Whereas I'm looking at it as a much more violent bloody affair of like you, grapples, breaks, and biting and tearing. Its more of to me, the difference between a pretty boy slap fight with nothing really happening, and WWE stunts with blood bags, razors, and markers so it looks much worse than it is giving a feel the fight is actually to the death. Its sort of the simple thing, like mentioning dust caking in a bite wound, and the sting of it making it hard to focus.

As opposed to "got bucked in the chest, felt woozy, eyes went black before I hit the floor".

'Course the challenge is putting in the parts without edge.

Also, for an Enclave squads, would the leader be a sergeant?

I've always like the headcanon that it's very difficult to hold something with TK if there's other forces acting on it. The original fic did it with pegasi flapping their way out of TK fields. This would make actually shielding blows via TK difficult, but not impossible.

As of current thinking, it would be 10 per squad... but with Power Armour, I think it would be reasonable to have that be more analogous to an armoured formation than traditional infantry, with a "squad" consisting of four ponies in this case. In that light, yeah, it would probably be a sergeant, one of 2+ squads under the higher command of an LT or 2LT in charge of the overall platoon.

Part of it is crap writing, part of it can be argued that Pip was just that lonesome. Her heart's desire was utter straight, and had no desire to go back to the stable or anything else Pip wanted.
She couldn't go back in without Velvet, most likely never even then, and was suck in a strange new world mostly out to kill her, remaining parts just wanting to injure. Homage was the first one she found that was also lessy, and frankly, I still say it was the Twilight Society messing with both.

Oh yeah, also there are no "no melee" perks, there is perks for what kind of gun you use, meaning theres a perk that will make you better at using one handed weapons, or two handed, or bolt-action rifles.

Some asshole of a slaver had decided you were just the bit of merchandise he needed and tried to rip off your tag. Luckily one of the guards had been nearby and managed to stop him. You hated the slave markets, only a bit less than when you had actually been one of the products here. All that kept you from rejoining was the tag on your ear and a guard willing to honor it. Still, you were running a business and needed more bodies. Artifact recovery paid you very well, though the turnover was quite high. Most ponies seemed to have a distinct like to go mad and shoot each other over some shiny treasure rather than finish a few jobs and all go home much richer. You shook your head at the thought and kept walking toward the main amphitheater for the latest arrivals.
Most of the products were in a disheveled state, suffering from malnutrition and disease from long before their procurement. Several had clear signs of communicable diseases that led to you informing the guards of this issue. It was a shame they responded with incinerators and flamers, but plague was nothing to be gentle with in the cramped quarters. You’d been hit with the feather flu once when traded at a smaller auction and nearly died from it. The rest of your squad did. Your wings ruffle a bit as you pray quietly to the winds to watch over them in the afterlife. Moving on you find some of the new entries into the slavery business, small time outfits that seek to cash in on the loser of a fight, or those foolish enough to expect help in the wasteland.

Most of them were too damaged for what you needed, missing limbs, poorly healed bullet holes, and frequent gashes that would only be infected. Few had been broken as you needed, most just cowered quietly or sobbed. A few stare at you, pleading to be rescued only to be knocked about by their owners.
Looking around you see a unicorn and another pegasus yoked together. They appear in good health though something seems wrong with the pegasus’s forehooves. A close look shows that they had been slit at some point and the tendons severed. Motioning, you get her minder to make her trot in place as you watch. She resists at first but a few prods with a stunner to the wing get her moving. She is very unsteady and unable to properly move her hooves anymore. Looks pretty though you think, debating if its time you got yourself a pleasure slave. Across the aisle are a pair of earth pony fraternal twins that catch your eye. They’re strongly built and in excellent condition, they’d easily last through a tour of artifact recovery, much less the few jobs you had in mind. Talking with the owner finds that they are former Steel Ranger from some chapter called Applejack’s Rangers that popped up recently. You’d heard of them, a group with more charity than brains.

The mood in Appleoosa was subdued. A whole caravan of slaves had been wiped out after being sent from the town and their benefactors in Fillydelphia were not pleased.
Dinner was just beginning in the guardhouse of, when a slaver burst in.
"Boss, Stern's representative has just arrived and she is demanding to see you at once!"
Setting his knife and fork down, Manacle stood up with a start, a scowl adorning his face.
"Well she has some nerve showing up like this and thinking she can just push us around!" The big earth pony spat. " I think Stern's little friend might be in for a little accident, what do you think fellas?" The other slavers in the room grinned and voiced their approval, all save the runner, who was looking around the room wide eyed.
"I-I don't think that's going to happen." The runner stammered.
"And why is that?" Manacle boomed. "We can deal with some jumped up bean-counter from Filly any day!" Before the runner could respond, the door to the guardhouse was slammed open by a telekinetic wave of force and everypony fell quiet, mouths agape as a tall figure swept in.
Possessing wings, a horn and regal stature marked the newcomer as an Alicorn, just like the fabled princesses of old. Unlike the princesses, this dark green pony radiated malice and the slavers felt a chill creep down their spines at the cold, calculating intelligence she regarded them with, as a pony would observe an insect they were about to squash.

"Who's in charge here?" The Alicorn demanded, her horn glowing dangerously.
"I am." Manacle said, trying to look bold and fearless before his underlings. The other slavers stood in a rush, daring not disrespect the towering creature before them.
"Incompetent weakling." The Alicorn spat, a bolt of light erupting from her horn and striking Manacle in the face, the magical energy blasting apart his head and striking with such force that his almost headless body careened backwards, knocking over his chair in the process. The boom in the enclosed guardhouse was almost deafening. The slavers at the table were spattered with a drizzle of blood and tissue, but none of them dared move a muscle. Not even to wipe the pieces of brain from their faces.
The alicorn stalked from the doorway around the table and two heavily armed gryphons bearing Talon insignia took position either side of the entrance. Reaching the head of the table, the Alicorn moved Manacle's limp corpse away with an almost dismissive wave of her horn and set the chair upright. Sitting down, the chair creaked under the monster's weight.
"Who is," the Alicorn asked, a note of pure danger in her voice, "second in command here. For example, if the pony in charge of this operation were to suddenly be deprived of brain activity?"
There was a nervous silence around the room. The Alicorn picked up Manacle's discarded fork, speared a piece of seared Radroach meat from his plate. She delicately put it in her mouth, oblivious of the speckles of fresh blood covering the food, the fork, the plate and the table. She chewed, savouring the taste and swallowed. "Do you think We have all day?" The alicorn said, almost as if bored. "I do need to know who is supposed to be in charge now."

"Indeed? Name?"
"Barbed Fence."
The Alicorn nodded, idly spinning the fork in the air with her telekinesis. Then she moved it with almost unbelievable speed and impaled Barbed Fence's neck with it. Barbed staggered back, clawing at her neck with her hooves and collapsed writhing and vomiting blood.
"Lesson one," the Alicorn said icily, over the sounds of a pony drowning in her own fluids. "When We ask a question, We expect an immediate answer. We are not, by nature, dangerous."
The Gryphons on the door sniggered.
"Oh all right. We are, We really, really are. We are perfectly adapted to this harsh land We find ourselves in, and that requires Us to be lethally dangerous to anything standing in the way of Unity. We are also aware that We often lack subtlety, but We can live with that, as We have found that more overt action often yields better results."
There was a long pause, the other ponies in the room not daring to move a muscle.
"Who is third in command?" The Alicorn asked.
"I am," said the older unicorn stallion to the Alicorn's right, his face heavily spattered with blood.
"Good," the Alicorn nodded, "You are quick and obedient. What is your name?"
"Fixit."
"You answered Us promptly, Fixit. You are learning, unlike your unfortunate colleagues. We will not kill you. Unless, perhaps, you are opposed to the Unity towards which we all must strive?"
"I am not."
"We find that most excellent. Fixit, you are now in charge of Appleoosa and the transport operation the town handles on behalf of Red Eye and Unity. You will report directly to Us. Is that understood?" The Alicorn asked almost joyfully as though congratulating Fixit on a hard earned promotion. The unicorn could only nervously nod. "Your first task is to explain why those responsible for the destruction of the caravan were not found."

"I can't say I have." The unicorn replied.
"Well, you see it really is rather fascinating," the Alicorn explained, her voice changing slightly in a way no pony could quite put their hoof on, "when on their own, most predators tend to try and avoid being injured by their prey. Normally they would avoid ponies entirely, especially a group. Balefire radiation has had a rather profound effect on a large variety of creatures' morphology and aggression, so attacks of wild creatures on ponies have wildly increased. However, a predator will still tend to only kill one item of prey and remove it, partially to avoid injury and also to avoid disease from storing dead meat for too long. This leads Us to the conclusion that what caused the destruction of the caravan was either a large pack of predators or a very large single animal, which would have been spotted since, or something else."
"I thought I hadn't seen any animal attacks like it." Fixit murmured in agreement.
"Indeed. So something much more dangerous than a wild animal has appeared in this area. Now, call Us old fashioned, but wouldn't that make it a priority for the staff of this operation to find those responsible and obliterate them?"
"I believe it would." Fixit replied.
"Yet... and yet, you're sitting down to dinner."
Fixit risked raising a hoof to wipe away the blood which was slowly trickling into one eye. "I request permission to rectify that at once and form the ponies available into a hunting pattern."
"That would be good," said the Alicorn. "Permission granted."

"When I give my progress report, who should I address it to?" Fixit asked, terrified of having said something which would prove fatal.
"Of course, We appear to have not yet been formally introduced," the Alicorn said, smirking. "You may refer to Us as 'mistress', or if you prefer to use Our name, call us 'Goddess', of whom We are a part in body and soul."
Fixit nodded and stepped back from the table, turning to the other slavers to give orders.
"Fixit?" The Alicorn's voice cut through the air and the unicorn turned back to the Alicorn with an ashen look on his face. The Alicorn levitated a pistol from a holster hanging on a nearby rack and held it out pistol first for Fixit to take in his own magic. "Before you start with that, shut Barbed Fence up, will you? He is making a most awful noise and We fear is will give Us the most terrible headache."
Fixit took the pistol, cleared his throat and moved around the table. Barbed Fence, her face blue, thrashed on the floor in a pool of blood. She weakly pawed at Fixit's ankles with her hooves and her horn sputtered to try and ineffectually wave the gun away. Trying to look dismissive, Fixit shot her between the eyes. The impact dislodged the fork and it landed on the hard floor with a clatter, blending into the ringing of the shot. The grisly gurgling fell silent.
Fixit gave the weapon back to the Alicorn, who promptly holstered it.
"Find me something," the Alicorn told him. "Find me something in twenty-four hours or We shall be making enquiries into the next in line."
