One of the themes of the show has been that people can change, but it's not easy and it takes a long time. Kuroto's changes have been a tiny crack in a mountain's worth of issues; he's a little different now than he was, as we see when he saves Kiriya, but not nearly enough that any sane person would call him redeemed. Hiiro didn't really give up on Saki until Masamune tried to push him too far by ordering him to both kill a man and violate his oath as a doctor to do it. It took the Gamedeus pandemic for Taiga to be able to show flashes of his old demeanor again, and that was after weeks and weeks of Nico and CR softening him up little by little. Parado had to suffer a slow, agonizing death that crushed every last aspect of his psyche in order to change, and even then he's still got a little of his old narcissism.

For what it's worth, the movie says that the wish was "powered by the desires of the riders fighting." So I guess Kanzaki needed even more power to revive his sister.

According to the movie, it's the life force of the Riders and their monsters that's gathered when each one dies - including the winner's life force itself too. That's also why the Riders needed to be strong people, not just anyone Kanzaki wanted.

I actually think Ghost is better in some aspects at least. Ghost has some awesome themes and concepts, and I'd actually argue that the overall storytelling is actually better as well. Drive's biggest downside is that the plot and story arcs are completely shit. It's just that the lovable cast and relatively good action overshadows it. The same can't be said for Ghost, so even though I believe the content of the story actually surpasses Drive, it's a worse show because it has nothing else going for it and therefore it's less enjoyable.
