Hell yeah
>>
cowboy bebop is better
>>
I remember hating this show's art style as a kid.
>>

>Outlaw Star sets out to do something original
>Cowboy Bebop is literally Lupin III in space with occasional melodrama
Naw.
>>
>>15747274
Already rewatched it when RX78 released his BD encodes.

Still holds up. Really solid nice series.
>>
>>15747274
No, but I still have my DVDs.
>>
>>15747281
In some ways, yes, in others no.
>>
>>15747281
True, but I still love the fuck out of Outlaw Star and its got a very different tone to Cowboy Bebop. More tongue in cheek and pulpy.

>Cowboy Bebop is literally Lupin III in space with occasional melodrama

You act as if that's a bad thing.

Also, Cobra is the actual Space Lupin.
>>
>>15747274
Can a show really "premier" on a channel it was previously on?
>>
>>15747352
They're trying to appeal to the kids who were too young to remember the original airings. And the ones that didn't exist yet. Considering that it's been 15 years since it stopped airing on CN, it's entirely possible that there are few 20+yo and teenagers that have not seen it yet.
>>
I watch it every year
>>
Some people complain that the middle section of the show is filler, but not really. Every episode connects to the finale in some way.
>>
I haven't watched Toonami in years, are they allowed to say shit on it now? Because Gene says it at least once an episode in the dub.
>>
>>15747436
Toonami is now part of Adult Swim. Not sure if they allow shit or fuck but anything besides that is fair game. Shit has actually gotten pretty common on later night shows on certain channels so it wouldn't surprise me if it is allowed.
>>
>>15747281
The Space Western Trifecta of 1998 is Cowboy Bebop, Trigun and Outlaw Star.
>>
>>15747436
>>15747449
Shit's fine. They aired Black Lagoon a few years ago and only the fucks were censored.
>>
Posting the classic to celebrate.

They both share the same very basic ideas, but are completely different in execution.

Outlaw Star is wacky adventures in magic ching-chong space land and an ending that fits the previous episodes.

Cowboy Bebop is an somewhat light-hearted adventure series that occasionally becomes as pretentious as an undergrad philosophy major with an ending arc that seems like it was teleported in from another series.

I thought Bebop was better as a kid, but as I get older, I find that my tolerance for pseudo-intellectual shit is eroding, so I've been slowly preferring Outlaw Star.

>>15747274

the animation was awful

So you just got dumber
>>
Maybe people will realize that Outlaw Star is actually a bit ungood.
I've always thought the only reason it was so highly regarded was that people saw it on Toonami as children.
>>
>>15747436
>I haven't watched Toonami in years, are they allowed to say shit on it now

Yes. They had uncensored shits on Black Lagoon when aired a few years back
>>
>>15747352
Sometimes it's just used as a synonym for 'start' rather than 'debut'.

>>15747436
They would but I have a feeling they'll just use the same version they did before for ease.
>>
>>15747274
Boo, OS was garbage, air Angel Links instead.
>>15747291
The art and animation are serious problems with it.
>>15747295
No, CB has more in common with Braiger.
>>
>>15747274
I've owned the series on DVD since they first released that box set and rewatch it occasionally. So no real reason to care about this myself. But it's nice that other people get a chance to watch it. Though it'll probably have its ratings completely overshadowed by "Hey Lois, remember that one time I made an out of date reference?" Far as I know everything else does. This does remind me I have to pick up the blu-rays at some point though. Shame the series did so poorly in Japan, would have loved to see more of the universe that wasn't Angel Links.
>>
>>15747274
Eh, the only reason I've watched Toonami at all since Dandy ended is Samurai Jack and the Lupin dub and I just DVR'd those.
>>
Nice to see so many people with shit tastes complaining about bad animation
>>
fyi THAT episode airing is currently is up in the air as of right now

still no nudity allowed on [AS]
even if it does air, it won't be uncut
>>
>>15748023
I still have dial-up so I can't stream shows
>>
>Toonami

>>>/co/
>>
>>15747906

No I've always loved it, I wouldn't watch it every year if that wasn't the case. There are neat little things I still find myself noticing in this series that I didn't pick up before. Not to mention there's a ridiculous amount of worldbuilding in place between the manga and anime, especially when you add on the first series.

I just with the first series got animated. It's why Outlaw Star has the subtitle Retro-Future Next Generation, as it's a Star Trek reference. It's the next generation of the world started in Retro-Future Hero Story.

>>
I literally just got it on bluray today.
>>
>>15747567

Right in the feels, anon.
>>
new Z0NE flash when?
>>
Think they'll actually air the cut episode this time?
>>
>>15748574

Did Retro Future Hero Story ever get fully translated? I remember a few groups having started back in the day but nobody ever seemed to get past the first volume or two.
>>
You think it flops on Toonami? Those fuckers on /co/ hate everything except DBZ/DBS and Jack.
>>
>>15747274

>2:30 am

Welp I'm out. Just like with Lupin I can't be asked to sit through three extra hours of shit I can't care about.
>>
>>15749855
I thought they were split on Jojo, some of 'em were quite enjoying it?

That said I haven't stuck my head that way in ages.
>>
>>15749855
Nah, I've been seeing posters who hate those shows too. Hell, they're beginning to get tired of the shows that air BEFORE Toonami
>>
>>15747297
My nigga, I've still got my bootleg DVD boxed set which is a treasure but those digital copies are the bomb.
>>
>>15748018
>It's a fun cheesecake episode
>It actually contains crucial information about elements of the shows universe
>>
>>15747480
Yeah just leave Trigun out of that. Main dude can't think of an thing to say to killers other then "Please don't!" "Don't kill this person". The stamped is hundreds of years old and that's you're go to for hostage negotiation? Artist only draws lanky motherfuckers and deserts. Story is nonexistent other the the fist 3 and last 3 ep..... Bullshit series. Rather see Hellsing there
>>

It's decided, I'll marathon RX78's sweet encode of it on my birthday.
>>
>>15751069
A little bit, but the manga is mostly the same as the anime. And who gives a shit about Angel Links, it's terrible.
>>
>>15747274
So Toonami is dead now, right? They literally had to beg for Outlaw Star BDs 2 years after release to try and prop up their shitty ratings.
>>
>>15749768
When he stops being a hypocrite.
>>
I don't have cable TV. TV is for consoles and streaming from the PC. Its 2017.

Unless this is online, I have no way of watching it same as like most people who like anything cool who are under the age of 40.
>>
>>15753594
>When he stops being a hypocrite.
what the fuck happened this time now?
>>
The only things I remember about this show are the ship itself and the busty muscular catgirl.
>>
>>15752750

The idea of Toonami is dying. Back in its heyday in the late 90s/early aughts, it was the only way a lot of people got access to anime of any kind. Nowadays, people have easy access to streaming services like Crunchyroll or they just torrent everything. Why watch a late night TV block of dubbed shows that aired in Japan years prior (e.g. JoJo, which is only just now airing Part 3 dubbed) when you can watch them as they air with subs on a number of platforms?
>>
>>15753624
1) Just download it and watch it like you watch everything else. Do you really want to see commercials?
2) If you want to talk to people while you watch it, you'll probably find a thread on 4chan somewhere. When this thing started up there was always somebody restreaming it with a chat and stuff.
>>
>>15751540
Rx78 encode is not on nyaa? Is it better than eg?
>>
>>15756488
EG is the name of RX78's "group"
>>
>>15752750
>Outlaw Star BDs 2 years after release
The US Blu-Ray release was just last month.
>>
>>15750897
I'm surprised it was never licensed. It seems like the kind of thing Tokyopop would have grabbed in the mangaboom.
>>
>>15756418
>when you can watch them as they air with subs

Because some of us aren't weebs and are okay with waiting a bit for serviceable dubs.
>>
That's cool and all but I haven't had cable for like 4 years.
>>
>>15747281
>cowboy bebop is better
And every time I ask a bebopfag why, the answer is always the same: its more "mature".

Bitch please.

That's an oxymoron.

I just watched Lain dubbed and plan to continue using the dub in future viewings. There's nothing you can do to stop me.

Dubbing > subtitles > that autistic thing Russians do where they keep the original audio but have two bored sounding people speak over the top
>>
>>15757703
>that autistic thing Russians do where they keep the original audio but have two bored sounding people speak over the top
This is the first I'm hearing about this. Is it actually a thing? Because it sounds hilarious.
>>
>>15759739
Go download anything from Rutracker. Even live action movies. They don't get rid of the original audio and there's like only one person delivering all the lines on a delay after they're said in the original language. Also everything downloaded from Rutracker has like 5 different Russian dubs that all do this exact same thing. I don't know why it even exists.
>>
>>15759739
Not strictly a Russian thing (except for the only dub by two dudes part), I've heard it on my parents' old Vietnamese dubbed Chinese TV shows. The original's volume is lowered and they just dub right over it.
>>
>>15759739
It's a thing. I used to get fucked by them all the time downloading rare movies off megaupload and rapidshit.
>>
>>15759761
You know, I think I could get used to that if I saw it done in English for a foreign movie. Dubs are always preferred, even live-action, but that isn't awful.

I think they still do that because straight up illiteracy isn't all that uncommon outside of the major cities.
>>
>>15759825
Makes sense. I think I remember reading that the reason China subs all of its movies and tv is to encourage literacy.
