Symphogear has several casual filters.
1.Singing: When normalfags look at Symphogear's premise they either think it's a kids show or some shitty idol advertisement like Love Live.
2.Costumes: The gears outfits are skimpy as fuck and none of the Symphogear fans are in hurry to defend them like how everyone did with Kill La Kill.
3:It's stupid
Casuals could get hooked in with Kanade's death and the whole concert scene in general because they would think that this show is trying to be serious but then Genjuro's punch happen which signaled to us that the fun is about to begin but to casuals who prefer their shows to be mature for mature people they would get turned off.
4:Seasons
Thanks to anime reviewers who spout off bullshit like,"a great show can hook you in with just one episode", the average anime fan doesn't bother with the three episode rule and just watches what everyone else does so that they can join in on the discussion.
It doesn't matter if some big youtuber shows off the shuttle suplex or other hype as fuck moments, it's too late for Symphogear and that's just perfect. Fuck casuals

That has to be one hell of a bug because I would have won those duels easily otherwise. I think I played about 140 matches of PvP last season and only saw it about 3 times that season. Fair enough, I had forgotten that we get the rewards every week. The arena shop is still pretty expensive compared to the event though. Go ahead and double complete campaign missions until the second completion is too difficult. The food ones refill event points and coffee is AP. Progression at this point helps a little more because you get levels for more party points, but diverting a few AP to crystals isn't bad either.

Just finished S3, after having started the series period a few days ago.

I enjoyed it, and expect i'll enjoy S4 as it's airing, but I feel the whole thing is not as good as it should be, speaking as somebody who wanted and expected a dumb over the top hypefest.

The idea behind the show is cool, it visually looks cool, the music is good, the characters, while not particularly deep, do have more to them and more development then in standard dumb over the top series, but it doesn't all come together well enough nor does it do any particular element well enough to rally ride on any particular element or for it to synergyize and come out to be more then the sum of it's parts.

The only time I REALLY got super hyped up about how sick stuff was was the first part of E1S3 with the space shuttle stuff, even if there were plenty of other times that on paper should have been 10/10 (like the giant mecha energy fist in the climax of S3) just didn' click due to some reason I can't put my finger on.

Anyways: Is the bonus OVA attached to the game out yet? I can't seem to find much info about it other then it exists.

It wasn't a Symphogear, it was a full relic. No phonic gain back then.
She only started using phonic gain when she transformed again.
They explained why the Symphogears can be so much stronger than full relics despite being made from fragments: it has a fuckton of modules that combine and act differently to fit the user and they are powered by phonic gain instead of just being activated by it. That is why they can do insane things like shapeshift seemingly endlessly and why not even Ryouko herself anticipated the gears going X Drive.

For me the character songs are the standout part that ties everything together - the characters and character development, the action, and the music all at once.

Maria has a line in her AXZ song that goes (according to Commie subs) "Clenched fist, steady sword, ready bow / My friends forge ahead, showing me the way", which is a direct shoutout to Hibiki, Tsubasa, and Chris, and references her character development during G and (later in the song) how she struggled in GX. These kinds of lyrics are what make Symphogear special, and it provides some of the coolest moments in the series: the start of Radiant Force with the first episode of GX, Miku's fight in G, and Hibiki's adoption of Kanade's song in Season 1. That's just me though.

(Also GX is arguably the weakest season. It all goes downhill from those first six minutes.)

That sucks. I use MX Player for Android, and it works fine. If you want to enjoy the series with the lyrics, take the plunge with Commie subs, they don't meme as much when it comes to Symphogear, and their lyrics typesetting is on point.

I understand the issue with reading the pairs of subs on the screen, but I think going back to read over the lyrics is fine too. You don't need to pay attention to both while watching an episode, but knowing the story beats they're hitting during a fight adds quite a bit of enjoyment.
