Kyuranger episode 18 made me think: has Toei finally given up in the whole Super Sentai universe idea and decided to give every show its own continuity? Besides, this episode, Dekaranger 10 years after and the upcoming Space Squad movies seem to indicate that Dekaranger and the Space Sheriffs are the only heroes in their universe.

Either way though, the 10 years after movies previously often clashed with the VS movies and other crossovers (Shurikenger staying dead in the Hurricanger 10 years after and getting a successor, while he reappeared alive in various crossovers both before and after it, the plot from 10 years after Dekaranger involving them being separated for a long time, even though they were just together in Gokaiger). So, I don't think this means much.

Depending on the write of the Vs movie, they might just ignore that and have the Kyuranger meeting the Zyuohger without any universe hopping at all.

I haven't seen a SS series before, but i'm a big fan of KR Ex-Aid and I now that i've seen that I need my Toku fix.

Would I enjoy the current series (Kyuranger)? How good is it? I love the designs of pretty much everything i've seen, so from that perspective i'm hopeful.

For what its worth, akaranger says in ninninger that he monitored all later sentai teams so you can headcanon that's the reason the previous teams dont show up to help that often.

Usually it's the first villain that gets remembered and promoted like that, but Sentai for a long time had the issue of Goranger not being officially recognized as the first Sentai, even though everyone knew it was. So, the Black Cross army lost presence and weren't really memorable to the Japanese public.

It also doesn't help that the Black Cross Army was straight up a Shocker ripoff. Even the Black Cross Fuhrer was basically a 2nd rate Great Leader, down to wearing a white version of his outfit.

The events of the last week's Kyuranger episode are mentioned with a scene of Shou and Doggie talking about Jark Matter's invasion.
