I got the 45x40 Super Sentai day, converted into audio and cut all parts that weren't the openings, like when people were talking or presenting the actors and all that.
There's no bad transition between songs, I took the care of making it as smooth as possible.

This is easily one of the best ranger costumes in the last decade, if not THE best.

Lucky solves everyones problems for them, is the most important person ever, and says his catchphrase too much. It leaves a bunch of other characters below the level of catchphrase dispensers.

And that issue isn't especially bad in the first six episodes but it gets worse after those. Then after Lucky gets a focus two-parter it gets better.

Go Busters is good because it's NOT a proper sentai but something different where they have to actually make interesting plans to rescue hostages, split the team up between land and mecha battles, learn gradually about the villains and then proactively enter their sub dimension, get to know each other, wear leather instead of spandax...

It was a very different show and people liked it for taking a big risk and paying off with an interesting and serious story. It kind of married some aspects of 80's sentai with modern character-based stories.

Liking comedic sentai or proper sentai is fine but I don't think thread appreciation for GoBusters is misplaced.

At least regarding Kyuranger though, it was never about the others being irrelevant. The main complaint in the beginning was that Lucky always played a role in everyone else's development. Raptor was clearly the focus of her one episode, but people complained about Lucky being the one that happens to push her forward. Same goes to how it was Lucky that convinced the commander to fight alongside the others during his debut.

It was never about the others doing nothing, the complaint was about Lucky was sharing part of the focus.

I'm actually surprised this managed to get into the final take.

So what's the deal with the fighting scenes in Maskman? The Maskmen are just awful at fighting to the point that they should not even be succeeding at all. It's like every single fight they're losing, getting constantly beaten up, being shown their weapons do absolutely nothing, or being on the brink of death. But then like five seconds after they've shown the Maskmen being completely defeated they just immediately, for no reason, can suddenly flip the table and everything they do is extremely powerful for like five seconds before they call their finisher. They don't have a rousing speech, they don't show that they're pulling through a difficult fight, they don't show them doing Meditation or anything, they just get up and can suddenly kick ass for a tiny bit. It even carries over to the mech fights but for some reason it's far toned down there and they can have actual back and forth fights that make sense before a finisher happens so those actually feel satisfying to watch.

At best some of their fights are a neutral back and forth, but they're just constantly getting kicked out of their transformations or having a million attacks thrown at them with their attacks being ineffective. Hell, I am still amazed a single attack from Great Five managed to convince Tube to go underground in episode 3 when they essentially won and the Maskmen were nearly spent. They even spend tons of episodes showing them training and yet they almost immediately get their asses kicked. One of the worst offenders is when they play the opening theme to get you hyped up and the entire fight is them losing over and over. I don't think they've actually won a single fight as the opening theme was going yet, it always ends in Baraba or Igam doing something to defeat them.

It's only started to improve around the 30s, they seem to actually win more of the fights with mooks before getting their asses kicked.

Eh, not really. The only time Showa Sentai referenced other heroes as existing was before it was Sentai proper, when JAKQ and Goranger were just two similar but unrelated Ishinomori series.

The problem here is that everyone on the enemy team is competent. It's like having an entire team of Enters without Messiah breathing down their necks while the opposing team is a group of Eiji from OOO with the fighting prowess of the first 10 episodes and yet the Eiji side keeps winning. Igam and Baraba even get upgrades that were "sealed for hundreds of years in the Underground" that cause the Maskmen to be unable to defeat them (Up until episode 39 so far) and they don't even lose in their episodes where they get the upgrade, they just decide to leave because their Dogler died.

Aside from the first 6-8ish episodes having nonsensical editing and being very confusing with how everything is set up, and what I said up above about fights, it's been fun. I think the mechs are by far the best part of it all, and I like seeing Sugata. The ending song is also one of my top ones and I love sticking around for it every single time.

Really, I just wish they would stop losing all the time but then out of nowhere start winning for no reason without any sort of speech or realization or anything since it leads to it not really having that many cool fights. The show really picked up around the early 10s though and has kept it up, and the fights got better in the late 20's/early 30's. I'm at episode 43 right now and as of now I'd say it's a fun series but I don't know if I'd recommend it to people if they're looking for something new and they still have other stuff to watch. To me it's one of those shows that are just sort of mediocre really, it's on Zyuranger's level but the main characters are far less competent.

Most of the shots and the sets just feel warm and comforting (No clue if it's just the video format it was filmed in or what), and the effects with the lasers and practical explosions are the best. Not to mention all the CGI stuff where they color items and they shoot out those lasers is the greatest. It's so simple and it not only looks great but it also feels different than modern CGI lasers.

Fights were a mess man, the mech fights were the best part and even half of those were instant finishers. Nearly every single on-foot fight ended up with them lying on the ground, getting beaten, saying some rousing speech and then getting beaten up, using their special weapon and then getting shown it's worthless on top of getting beaten up, doing Meditation and immediately getting knocked out of it, etc.
They had certain good scenes with some of the fights, but that's like 1/5th of the fights at best. Hell, we make fun of Faiz all the time for how terrible people are at fighting but it's so much worse in Maskman. The entire crew gets thrown out of their suits more than the Faiz crew lose their belts. I found it hard to believe they were winning most of their fights because of how often they got beaten up tremendously.
