Banrise expected it to flop the first time around, so they aired it in the middle of the night to save some money. It did alright for itself, was a ratings success by the standards of it's timeslot and even got some praise by people within the industry. Now that IBO is done, they're seeing if there was more of a market for it through compilation films because those are cheap as fuck.

If all goes well, we might get a MG G-Self. If it bombs at the box office, it's no big loss and they can can Part II.
