There are radar blockers on the intakes which pass the rcs test. You are right that the t-50 does not put that much emphasis on stealth, but its maneuverability exceeds the f22 by much. A lot of the stealth specs are criticised because people do not understand that a prototype is not the final product.

So let me ask, where is the three-dimensional thrust vectoring on the raptor?

Once again, you don't need s duct if your weak visible points are all covered. So if they have almost the same stealth it comes down to acm. In which case the pak fa would have a slight edge with it maneuvering. You can't forget that up until now the f-22 did not really have any competitors. Now that the US for some reason will be using the f-35 """"""""""lightning"""""""""", the russians will have a big advantage.

What kind of weak qualifier is that, almost is the difference between undetectable and being detected. Since 4th gen fighters have been a thing maneuverability is less of a priority than maintaining energy, and all those post stall cobras and tailslides look great at air shows but bleed a lot of energy.

That's not even bringing up the shotty nature of Russian engines and radar, can't convince a vatnik otherwise.

The only air wars we've seen in a while were wars against 3rd world countries using obsolete 70s technology. I'd love to see an F22 go against Russia or China.
>>
>>15448721
stealth is about bouncing radar waves the right way to make your plane look really tiny in radar, to clear this up you'd also start picking up clutter in the air to the point you wouldn't be able to see a plane past the pollen and bugs in the air
unless physics changed too much or we unlocked wisdom of serb to pick off stealth planes among radar clutter on longer wavelengths like that one f-117 it's gonna be here for at least a little while longer

>>
>>15448234
>So let me ask, where is the three-dimensional thrust vectoring on the raptor?
Absent because Lockheed is smart enough to know that its not actually needed. Not being seen is better than being able to turn slightly faster.

For what its worth, a decent part of why the Raptor has 2D TVC has less about mai dog fighting and more about better STOL performance for when the commies put a radioactive crater on the end of your runway.

>>15448726
Stealth is less about not being seen and more about not being seen first. If you spot the other guy before he sees you, you have a big tactical advantage in that you can control where/when/how/if you fight the guy.

It's just not gonna happen. The Navy does need an escort, but the raptor would never work (too cost/time prohibitive to develop a naval variant). ASH will work as a stopgap, but it won't work forever.

I watched the video, it doesn't do a good job backing up its arguments and is heavily reliant on strawman 'myths' to debunk.

Those myths (lies) are what the people are basing their arguments on when they criticise the f 50. I'm not even arguing against the F-35 here, I'm saying that purely from a scientific mindset seeing so little data being used to draw a conclusion makes me doubtful. I'm perfectly willing to believe actual pilots rate it positively, I just find such a limited data set dubious. Are there more? That second chart was a start.

Yeah that's the real reason why the USSR lost the Cold War. It takes money to fund an army and they went broke before NATO did.

When Russia invaded the Crimea everyone here was pissed. Now we have to spend billions on defense again like during the Cold War. And unlike the US people here prefer spending that money on healthcare and infrastructure not fancy planes but now we have to.

Shorten the takeoff as a biplane. Then you jettison the extra wing and fly on as a normal monoplane. Ultimately the idea was dropped.

Firefox is a pretty cool 1980s movie. It will probably feel dated to the millenials on this board, and the first 80 minutes are more about espionage than fighter planes, but the ending makes up for it.

This is simply... beautiful.

F-19 is probably my favorite one, and the game along with Red Baron is still the best casual flight sim out there - not too complicated and easy to control, but not feeding you waves of enemies and 1ups from the clouds either. I wonder how the Firefox vs. F-19 dogfight will go.

Why are slavs so insecure about their planes and spend all their time talking about hypotheticals when their own state media can barely put together enough footage of their shit actually working?

Slavs should just be happy that their planes at least have aesthetic, unlike the Chinese.

I don't get the US obsesion with stealth air to air. When was the last time you did air to air? 30 years ago? 50? You are literal grandpas at this point, yelling to actual useful planes to get off your air lawn.
>>
>>15453850

A-10 is overrated

>>15453854
What's wrong with stealth, it doesn't impede the performance of the machine. Also, never know when the next peer to peer conflict is going to pop up. You're either in front and ahead of the curve, or you're playing catchup.
>>
>>15453854
Stealth allows a fighter to act like a sniper. Shooting down opposing aircraft before they even knew they were being engaged

In a conventional war, whomever controls the skies, controls the war.

If you have 15,000 tanks but no air cover, then all that armor will be rendered useless as the righteous hammer of God comes crashing down from the heavens above. Unopposed

>>
>>15453854
Stealth is why F-35's were able to knock out ~50 SAM batteries at Red Flag 2017 when they normally just lob Tomahawks at them.
>>
>>15454268
A-10's are overkill/expensive for COIN and yet not viable in contested airspace.

Xbox only had one AC exclusive, and it was a pretty decent one at least compared to Assault Horizon.
>>
>>15454685

>pretty decent

6fags aren't cleared to fly in this airspace.
>>
>>15454268
Its true though. For Forward air control and BRRRRTTTING during COIN operations it's complete overkill. There's no good reason to use a 30 year old twin jet with a 30mm cannon to do the job of a small turboprop like the Super Tucano or the sadly cancelled OV-10X. Both aircraft have/can carry more than enough brrrrrt to ruin an ISIS fighter's day. As for the original job of tank busting, BRRRRRT won't cut it anymore so it'll use PGMs except there's no reason why you can't put those PGMs on something else.

I'd like to understand the distaste some posters in this thread have for AC6. I haven't played them, but it doesn't seem a radical departure from the older games, unlike AC:AH?
>>
>>15455607
It does have a pretty small plane selection, and dropped the F-4 and F-5. Other than that its an Xbox exclusive, controls are more arcade-like similar to AC04. It didn't change up the gameplay much, but did try some new things like in combat landings and take offs from the same map, and calling in allied army support.
>>
>>15455607
I just don't feel 6 was all that compelling, and to and extent I'm having similar issues with 7 and how shamelessly it's all "hey guys remember the PS2 games?" There's also Infinity to factor in, and how it rode on nostalgia to con people out of time and money for a concept that could've easily been a great continuity reboot to clean up and more elegantly present the Strangereal lore.

I know full well I'm in the absolute minority when I say this, but I'm fully accepting of Assault Horizon's flaws. There are a lot of things jank about the game, but I feel in it there was a surge of potential for exploring arcade style aircraft action that would never exist if AC only stuck to the formula that has defined its games since 04.

I never really got that feeling with 6. 6 ended up being the most forgettable experience for me other than its amazing cockpit detail, because it was really just the same AC song and dance at the end of the day but with a fresh coat of paint, and it got to a point where I just felt burnt out on the formula without there being some kind of major shakeup.

I think the root of my gripe is that I just wanted one more experimental entry to provide some reassurance that the franchise won't be an endless rehash of the PS2 trilogy with minor gimmicks attached, or more accurately that Ace Combat won't fundamentally be nothing more than "let's recycle Ace Combat 2 because it was what was most successful in the domestic market back in the PSX days."

Honestly I sometimes hate myself for caring this much and not just enjoying all the ACs for the fun of doing sick impractical maneuvers for the express purpose of shitting sidewinders down the intakes of random planes, it's ruining my ability to be happy that AC7 is not just a thing, it's a multiplatform thing, PC included. That should be the greatest comfort in the world right now and here I am being the most irrationally bitter person in the AC fandom.
>>
>>15455607

It was pretty much AC4 2.0 and most of it is just a natural knee-jerk reaction to disliking a game exclusive to an Xbox console.
