Hey /prg/. I'm needing examples of Power Rangers Megazords that have the full team of Rangers (ideally 6) in the cockpit, but don't consist of two Megazords mashed together. I've only seen one example from Super Sentai, Gekiatsu Dai-Oh from Ninninger, not sure what it'll be called in Ninja Steel. Any more?

Kind of. Based on the Japanese wikipedia articles, there was low merchandising sales for several years, then they changed the target audience to the younger Sentai one with B-Fighter and it was a success, but B-Fighter Kabuto was a failure in merchandising. It was considered too close to Sentai, and so they wanted to take the franchise in another direction - comedy focused rather than action.

Kabutack was actually successful and the timeslot was taken by another similar comedic show with Robotack, but then it apparently didn't perform well toy-wise either. Afterwards, they made Robocon, a remake of an old comedic Ishinomori series due to his anniversary - and from there followed with Kuuga, another anniversary based project, but one that ended up taking Metal Heroes' timeslot permanently due to its success.

Basically, part of what killed Metal Hero wasn't only the low sales, but also the lack of an image brand. Sentai ending would certainly be big news, while by the time Metal Hero stopped people just didn't care about bringing it back, since it basically meant nothing.

The original Kamen Rider was mentioned in an article about Japanese people watching the trailer for the movie. That sounds like it might be interesting, especially since they already have depictions such as First or S.I.C. that have more organic looking designs. Movie 2 is Green Ranger film, ends with the Zords being destroyed to defeat the villain /Tommmy losing his powers
Movie 3 Tommy gets White Ranger powers, except but everyone get remodeled suits based on their Ninja Power Animals and at the end everyone has to give up their powers to seal Zed And Rita
Movie 4 is Zeo, Machine Empire Attacks while they're depowered and apparently "kill" Jason leaving Tommy to become Red, they fight a Gold Ranger who works for the Machine Empire which is Jason, as a role reversal and they repel the Machine Empire but decide they have to go into Space because Zordon gets captured in the fighting
Fifth Film introduces an entirely new team, all the In Space Rangers are aliens who work with the Earth Rangers at the end of the movie the Earth Rangers get suits the incorporate themes of all 3 generations of their suits (The Original/Ninja and Zeo)
Sixth Movie is dedicated to fighting the Psycho Rangers who drain Dark Specters power.

The major thing is that the Green Ranger suit in Zeo would remain Black to be consistent and for the final mixed upgrades Jason would be Red again, because Tommy feels he should.

It's cutting a lot of stuff but it works as a six episode saga

It's because Saban turns certain male rangers into female rangers depending on the season.

So you get one girl wearing a skirt while another wears the same thing as the guys, so it can be taken as girls can wear both depending on their preference

Which is hilarious because the only season of Sentai adapted by Americans that had a unisex costume was Dekaranger.

And then the only seasons not adapted that had Unisex were Goranger, Goggle V, Dynaman and Fiveman.

Every other season always has the girls in a skirt or a leotard while the guys get pants.

When you look at Toei, they had decades of experience in terms of costume design, fight design, stunt actors, tricks for cutting cost, etc before Saban even purchased the rights for the first season. And then when Saban tried to get more footage was like a hot knife through his wallet to pay for it. So Toei has a strangle hold on a majority of all the actual trained talent and Saban would have to basically put out enough money to just MATCH their level of quality with no base, meanwhile having to pay AMERICAN or New Zealand Wages, while Toei gets away with murder because they started in the 70s and live in Asia.

Power Rangers sequel won't happen.

What would be the most edgy thing possible? What I was thinking of was:

Blue Ranger dies about a 1/4th the way through the show against a MotW quickly by being impaled with a sharp weapon, to the disbelief of the heroes and the bad guy thinks he will get a promotion for this while instead the Rangers take revenge for their fallen commrade, with his body disappearing in the aftermath. Then the next episode would keep him in the opening while they struggle with him truly being gone, despite Red believing his friend is still out there. Then more than half the way through the show, Blue apparently returns scarred and played by a different actor, but then 3 or so episodes after of being treated as a miracle, suddenly betrays the group and reveals he is an impostor who sold out humanity for power and fights as an enemy for the rest of the series, dying near the end still as a human after a duel with Red. This would be reflective in their Zords where one of the auxiliary ones replace Blue's in the Megazord and the false Blue uses the same Zord and transformation device as him.

It’s Rita. Why need another “Evil Green Ranger” when we already have the perfect one?

At a certain point you gotta ask yourself, why not cut the middle man and use Rita?

Think of that. The redemption of Rita. That would be way more interesting story to see unfold.

I've noticed some people on this site saying that they hope Twitch does this marathon again. To be honest I'm a bit crossed on that. On the one hand it was definitely was a lot of fun. Twitch chat along with the general threads on /tv/ made it a really enjoyable experience. There were also seasons that I missed a lot or even most of so another marathon would be beneficial in that regard. Sure I could just watch them on Netflix or something but it just wouldn't be the same experience as watching them during the marathon.

On the other hand doing another marathon just won't be as special, especially if it's next year like some people are hoping or speculating. It won't feel as fresh or unique, because most people will know what to expect. A lot of the memes and humor will stuff from the last marathon. So instead of it being fresh like it is now it'll be stale and repetitive. Yeah I guess they'll be a new /ourguy/ and a new meme or two but that'll be it. Doing another marathon just won't be as fun, as much as it saddens me to say. Unfortunately there's nothing like your first time.

So I've haven't been keeping up with PR lately until the marathon so I didn't previously know about this but I found out that Super Ninja Steel will be the 25th anniversary of PR and will "feature guest appearances of "the most popular past Rangers."

So what are your thoughts on this? Hopes? Personally it feels a bit hard for me to get excited, due to how badly Saban botched up the 20th anniversary with Super Megaforce. For returning rangers I'm hoping for Kira (Dino Thunder), Dillon (RPM), and Tori (Ninja Storm). Yes I know that that those first two have nothing to do with ninjas. The article saying that Milo Cawthorne (who played Ziggy on RPM), was spotted hanging out with the Ninja Steel cast makes me think that not all of the past rangers will be ninja themed.

What I wish would happen:

A lot of people think Tzachor, who was executive producer on Super Megaforce, was the one with the hateboner for Disney, not Haim or Saban as a whole. Tzachor is gone now. Also:

Of those Rangers, only the Red Alien Ranger is Saban-era. While the sentai Alien Rangers was adapted from was Ninja-themed, they don't really have anything to do with Ninjas as far as Power Rangers goes. Assuming they will want to tie into the theme of the show in some way, I predict there will be at least one Ninja Storm ranger appearing in the season.
