Goseiger may be mediocre most of the time, but I still like it. Reminds me of how I feel for Gaoranger.

Since we were talking about Goseiger in the last thread, I wanted to start off this thread with something it did really well: the overall great look/feel/sound of the series. Despite whatever changes happened during production it was visually stunning.

No, it was a combination of behind the scenes issues. Original team working on it were basically sentai veterans going in for one last bout. Kinda like Ohranger at the time. Unfortunately it was also the moment where ratings started sliding down real badly, which punctuated by pretty decent success of W and Shinkenger, especially with older audiences, and really bad toys (because surely toys not selling is not Bandai's fault in any way) forced Toei to try and salvage the show by replacing the staff. This obviously never works the producer was replaced anyway. Some episodes are credited as written by Hatte Saburo (which is the collective pen name for Toei's staff) which means that either they were shot with only a strenuous idea of a script or that nobody wanted to take credit for it. That's not good.

Honestly it's a miracle the show turned out as well as it did.

Megaranger had MegaRed, MegaPink, MegaBlack and Mega Silver which I liked while Boukenger had BoukenRed, Pink and Blue who I liked.

But the Boukenger filler plots are far more interesting and engaging while Megaranger has a hundred different mind control plots.

I personally stopped at episode 37 because the retool fucked the show so hard it was incredibly hard to watch, which was a real shame. Up until 29 it was great, and then 30 was so rushed that the emotional parts of it felt disconnected.
Now with Kyuranger being very mediocre I might as well just pick Go-Busters back up and see if the end is really as "good" as you guys say, but /ssg/ is notoriously misleading regarding shows so I'll stay wary.

That latest episode of Kyu had really good composition. They don't use that particular beach very often so that was refreshing, and seeing all those suits in action in the opening fight has me pumped for the show going forward. All very visually interesting.

I'm reviewing Liveman, it was cool, but I had forgotten how was epic the Doctor Obular arc (19-21), his story with his mother is not the kind of thing that appears in super sentai, the fact that the heroes say it was blame her that he has become a monster (although it is strange that he was not arrested for the murders he committed), but this is part of the show's message. Now the "aliens" came in. I remember that I had found that they were stupid and bad, but in the end their story had a tragic twist that I really liked. Soon the search for the brain of a thousand points would start, which I had found bad, because Doctor Bias gave and took values randomly from his humor of the moment, he really did not give points based on objective concepts, it did not make sense.

Remember most of the hate for Kyoryu comes from the crap ending and King being a bit of a god figure. Otherwise it's entertaining as fuck, probably one of the most energetic and "fun" Sentai out there.

The Korean sequel is a continuation with different actors, though it's getting directed by Sakamoto so it'll feel pretty much the same. This is only happening because Korea loved Kyoryuger.
