*** THERE IS NO "GUNPLA GENERAL" DISCORD SERVER. IGNORE AND FILTER THE TRIPFAGS SNAPFIT-KUN (!jyii1UI8x.) AND AIRBRUSH-KUN (!P37CHgxil2) WHO SPAM THE THREAD AND SAY OTHERWISE.

THERE IS ONLY A TEXT CHANNEL ON THE /m/ DISCORD: https://discord.gg/TGjVRAG AND NOTHING ELSE.***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions, as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here!
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

***Graze Group Build***
Rules:
Pick any 1/144 or 1/100 kit from the Graze family (Pic Related), and paint and customize it. As far as customizing it, I'm going to place a limit on that. The limit is 50% additions to the kit.
To define 50%, look at it like this, you could take a Graze Ritter and replace the arms (including shoulders), legs, and backpack and I'd call that 50%. I'm not counting handheld bits in that. If you're unsure of something please ask in IRC, the thread, or email.

Start Date: 12/1/16
Due Date: 3/1/17
Submissions go to
[email protected]
Submission format
Please submit photos in jpg via a compressed file (zip, rar, or 7zip), please don't link images to imgur or photobucket or the like. Please also include some WIP photos of the kits being constructed/painted/etc as validation that it's your custom.

PRIZE:
$40 prize pool to spend on from Amazon (>>15024502)

Guys suggest me some mgs I should get. I want a new one but I don't know what to buy

Recommend me a kit you like and the reasons why you specifically like it.

Preferably something a bit obscure or underrated. Don't recommend the usual recommendations like the sazabi ver ka, zaku 2 2.0, full armor gundam thunderbolt etc bc I probably already have it.
>>

strike remaster and its brother units have incredibly solid frames and looks great. turn a is great, age-1 grew on me alot(wish it got the full gransa version). not sure if these are obscure/underrated, but they're really good mg's. i dont care what anyone says, but im a fan of red astray and its fuckhuge sword

The Wing Fenice MG is good, it's poseable, sharp looking, comes with beam curtains and is an all around improvement over the Wing EW kit.

Or the Kampfer. It's oldish, but it's a Kampfer.

tell us your approach, write us an advertisement to promote your model.

A weathered model usually tells a backstory, where it been and what it done from its scratches and dirts.

not being rude or taking it personal, but you could put more effort on it and youtube some examples before experimenting on yours.

i know people who burnt a fucking hole on his M4 and read stories of people taking their models to shooting range.

Hyakuren legs on the Grimoire makes for a pretty good combo, I think. I think I need to do something with the skirt pieces to cover the ball joints.

I decided to try out those newer Vallejo Metal Color paints. Was dissapointed to learn that the "Metal varnish" was literally just their regular gloss varnish rebottled.

The paint itself works nice though. Goes on a little rough but levels off smoothly overnight.

Go for what has your favorite suits. There's a larger variety with HGs and some HGs incorporated fixes to issues early MGs had (Like the HG Gouf Custom not suffering from floppy arms)

I have
1 MG Tallgeese
1 RG Sinanju don't buy this
1 HG G-Lucifer (first kit I got from a convention, it introduced me to gunplas)

I'm waiting for the backorder of RG Red Astray (come on HLJ it's been 2 months already), and I have a MG Zaku II 2.0 coming up in a couple of weeks.
What should I buy next ?

HGS are more popular, they are cheaper, have way more kits, and also have lots of option sets.

But personally I love MGs, way more detail, easier to paint. Only problem is they take up a lot of space, and the action bases for 1/100 kits are mammoth.

I have one RG but its too small and will fall apart if you breath on it.

Thanks, and if you're the anon who suggested alcohol for that in a previous thread, I have to thank you again for that tip, though I was correct in assuming I needed steel wool instead of cotton swabs to scrub the excess Metallic away.
Thankfully the regular opaque colors from these acrylic paint markers don't require such extreme measures, but I think this fuck up that ultimately kept me from getting the Ritter Reinforce complete on time may explain why.

I don't know if you can see it in this photo, but there is a gunky grey residue left on these bits where the Gold paint has been semi-scrubbed off.
I'm assuming due to how well the paint sits straight out of the marker (note the hilt of the Knight Blade I have YET to fuck up) that it's some kind of leveling agent they add to the Metallics to make them paint decently.
I'm also guessing it's this same leveling agent that quickly gunks up my brushes when I pour it out and try to hand brush with it.

>Just what were you doing to fuck it up so?
Pretty much exactly what you described.

Like I've said before, the metallics of these acrylic paint markers REALLY do not want to come off, so instead of rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab you need rubbing alcohol and STEEL WOOL, and even THEN quiet a bit of scrubbing to get it off.

This actually make it really great for panel line details, as whatever paint isn't in an indent will come off first, but it becomes a nightmare when you want to do anything else with it.

Gunpla casual here. Is there a simple way to put polycaps on the HG GN-X body to be fit on ball joint arms?
>>
>>15274135
I assume you're talking about new polycaps and not the existing ones.
You just cut a hole into it, place the polycap in and use a good sealant/glue to keep it in.

all I can think of.. is "why".

I can really only build one kit every couple months so like.. I only order one. I don't get why you need that much shit.

Maybe I'm just too picky in which kits I want.
>>
>>15274158
the reason I have so much backlog is I usually buy a kit when I think I'll have ti me to build it but then usually something happened and my free time is gone. It also doesn't help that the hobby store is right next to where I play magic and in between rounds I'll stop in there to see what they have and depending on who's working they usually can convince me to get a kit. Like if it's the old guy he usually tries to get new the newest kit he can order and he always saves one behind the counter in case I want it and I can't say no to that. There's another guy around my age who works there and if he orders, he knows I like zeek suits so he tries to find a bit more obscure zeek kit that I may like or he tries to get me a p bandai at a good price like he found me a picture bandai guncannon and only charged me $1 extra than what the store paid to get it.

>>
>>15276797
Virtue can transform between virtue and nadleeh.

Seravee has a transforming seraphim, all the hands to do the shiva pose (but not the beam sabers), and if you get the designer color version it comes with LED for both seravee's and seraphim's eyes.

Really it comes down to which design/gimmick you like better.

I have both and I love them.
I suppose the negative points would factor more in deciding, so I'll list down a few.

Both need some touching up to look perfect.

Virtue needs some clear green for the condensers, and quite a bit of grey here and there.
Yellow for the inside of the particle tanks, if you plan on displaying them deployed.
And red for the chin, but the chin sticker is well-cut and fits very nicely, you might as well use it.

Seravee needs the same clear greens and greys, but also clear red too, for the head jewel.

Both have heavy weapons, but I'd say Seravee has overall (slightly) stiffer joints.
It holds up its separate bazookas well, not so well with them combined (weight issues).

Virtue can hold up its bazooka (basic mode) well with one hand, but you have to play around with the center of gravity quite a bit.
Almost impossible in Burst Mode, though (but you'd be resting the bazooka against the chest in Burst Mode anyway, so that's probably a moot point).

Purging Virtue into Nadleeh is fun, but just make sure to follow the attachment order.
Also be careful of where you hold the kit while purging/reattaching armor parts; leaving limbs dangling does a lot to weaken the joints, especially for one with a heavy weapon.

I never really liked Seravee before buying the kit; I only bought the 1/100 to complete the S2 party.
It looks boxy, but to me it doesn't seem like it has a reason for being so, unlike Virtue. I suppose it's due to the large amount of surface area with low detail?
However, the gimmicks in the kit have made me a fan. The bazookas and their combining mechanisms, Seraphim (which actually has better articulation than most of its brethren),
and if you have plenty of spare beam sabres, posing Seravee with six at once looks menacing.

I'd say, if you're the kind of person who rarely reposes his kits, go for Virtue. It has more detail, and looks much better IMHO.
But in terms of variety of posing options, Seravee wins.
>>
>>15276858
Seravee is boxy for the same reason as virtue.

Particle storage.

The gn bazookas eat up a lot of particles, more than the drive can produce on its own, so it stores a shit ton of excess particles in tanks under the armor.
>>
So where do you guys get your news from on what's coming?
