I started rewatching Kamen Rider Wizard and honestly I think it's an alright series. It's rather flashy with choreography and the side characters are rather okay.

Nitou is pretty alright too. What's the hate on Wizard?

Also, I've watched all the movies featuring Wizard (except the Ex-Aid one that just came out) and it seems like the actor puts in way more effort for the movies than the actual show. Is it cause of the script he's given, better director for the movies who probably gives more of a shit about "acting" in Toku or what?

The monster of the week stuff gets fairly repetitive. The villains are never allowed to make any victims and there's a bunch of dumb stuff that's never explained (you'll be fine if you leave the city), and Wizard has little main plot focus to make up for that.

Although it's a pretty odd move to just end the show on an anti-climax like that (The villain isn't here, try again next series!). Imagine if something like that happened nowadays. At least the original series' ending makes things more ambiguous, since the recorder blows up before Rider 1 and 2 can check it, and there's a final battle to take him down before that, but V3 makes it very obvious.'

Well, at least twelve. It was a bit of a wash since becoming a Zodiart wasn't fatal. There was a risk of losing one's body but those that ascended conveniently got their bodies back. That one scaled back on the casualties since it was the first season post tsunami and the studio was focused on making Fourze a hero that would cheer kids up and lift people's spirits after a national disaster.

I like Haruto though. I never got the no personality thing. His confident, somewhat smug attitude towards the Phantoms was a refreshing change from the Gentaro and Eiji. And he got some great character moments during arcs like Phoenix and Mayu's introductory arc.

Wizard's problem is that it doesn't take any chances. The characters are decent, but they try to stick to the formula so hard they don't do anything. 1 or two Phantoms should have been born, Mayu should of had a suit that didn't suck, the origins of the Phantoms should of been explored and in general more magic shit.

I personally liked Wizard until episode 10. After that all of it's plot momentum not only halts, but it's character arcs stop, the reason Rinko is in the story is written off in the next arc, the fact that they hired an actress that could not be on set to play a key character starts to show, and Haruto's personality pretty much vanishes.

I read something about the nips believing Wizard originally being planned to be a return to the older Heisei shows but Toei panicked and forced a change in direction that left the show aimless and without purpose. Those first 10 episodes just feel so different from the ones that follow. Way more focused and with purpose.

I haven't finished Ghost but I liked what I've seen. On episode 30 or so. Just finished Alain's arc and I hear it's just downhill from there because the writer left and more or less never came back. It's not a favorite but it's been a decent ride so far. It's greatest crime is Takeru is boring, Akira and Onari can grate on you a bit, and they really should have made less forms and did something more like the Imagin and had more possessions. At the very least the eyecons should have been more sentient from the start and not 13 episodes in. For me it rides the line on mediocrity but isn't the worst. But I haven't finished it yet either.

Wizard is just wrong on so many goddamn levels. It's pure and unadulterated wasted potential because it meanders around for nearly 30+ episodes until it realizes it can't keep doing nothing. Even when it introduces new characters it feels like it's doing nothing.

Like Maya's introduction is a great set of episodes but it's worthless because she disappears until the end and does jackshit of note. They didn't even give her her own suit they just reused a movie rider. Her actress was on set every fucking day you could have easily made Maya Haruto's apprentice. It would have been great development for her and since both Medusa and her would have suits interactions between the two would have been so easy.

Or Gremlin. Gremlin could have been a great way to shake things up had he been of any actual worth. Instead he's just irritating.

And so much more could have been done with the concept of Phantoms. Especially Haruto's. Infinity slowly bringing Haruto's phantom into power the more he used it would have been such a great plot.

And Beast. I love Beast as a rider and persona but he's so worthless til the end. He can't even finish villains off in his own focus episodes. And he has such a great basis and idea behind him. There's so much you could have done with the dynamic but all they ever do is just let him eat mooks.

Just finished watching Den-O. Loved the Imagin and main cast, but the plot was severely lacking and it became apparent in the second half when as >>15088331 pointed out, there was no big bad and it just kinda ends. I half expected Kai to fill that role, what with his powers, but he was just kinda there.

A lot of stuff went unexplained and it felt like there was no major resolution when the credits started rolling. Zeronos was my favourite character, given how detailed his backstory was. I was surprised how much of the plot that there was hinged on him.

As hamfisted as Kabuto's second half was, with its silly setup and ending, I did enjoy it more.

I've now seen Faiz, Kabuto, Black, Gaim, Black RX, Drive, W and Den-O, in that order. What to watch next?
