You can't, really. You can make it a lot easier but it never reaches like W or J levels because there's no one unit you can send in the middle of the pack and just End Turn or MAP repeatedly until everyone is dead.

Top Tiers are basically Shin Getter, Mazinkaiser, Walker Gallier (who can one-shot a lot of end-game bosses completely bypassing the annoying Spirit Spam) and just about any multi-pilot Super as long as you know that Hope restores SP to ALL members of a unit in this game (as opposed to most games where only the main pilot gets SP).

Characters are pretty static in power levels given the limited ability to upgrade everyone who isn't from Kikaider (or a Giant Robot you almost never get to use and is totally outclassed by Ultramen anyway).

Compact 1 is the game that created V-Ups, and all those fun things like "separating mech stats and unit stats" and "not giving absurd boosts and only being absurd in that you can stack four of them" weren't on the list of things they had at the time.

L-Gaim was a fairly good unit that had four part slots.


Its MAP, a straight line move, can get up to something like 6900 power in the Winkysoft system. Its second best move gets to like 6500. Might be a bit more on both of those. You can OHKO anything up to and including the final boss with that and 3x Soul, but even without that you're smashing all but the bulkiest of mooks with ease.

Oddly enough, I randomly picked Alpha 3 for my first SRW and had no idea what I was doing. It did make me watch GaoGaiGar and Macross 7 at least. I got stuck at the final stage of GGG TV, where your units get removed from the map when you attack the boss. Had no clue about stuff like hotblood, combination attacks, Will increase, or hell, I don't think I used a single Spirit command during that run.
