Rules:
Pick any 1/144 or 1/100 kit from the Graze family (Pic Related), and paint and customize it. As far as customizing it, I'm going to place a limit on that. The limit is 50% additions to the kit.
To define 50%, look at it like this, you could take a Graze Ritter and replace the arms (including shoulders), legs, and backpack and I'd call that 50%. I'm not counting handheld bits in that. If you're unsure of something please ask in IRC, the thread, or email.

But enough about blogshit, I was planning to do a graze with some sort of "mars" camo colors for the build. The idea was these would be "ambush" grazes that can hide in mars' canyons and cliffs.
Is this feasible and not a retarded concept?
Any tips for doing camo schemes?

Been working on mine on and off. Was originally going to do a Dedicated Marksman Graze but it sort of evolved into something else entirely as I messed around with it. I'm going to be adding a small radome dish to the back by hooking it under the color next. Debating on whether or not to add a small shield.

The grey parts are from that old kotobukiya sky girls kit. A couple years ago during a clearance hlj had them for a dollar and I thought it would make good part fodder for customs.

I know a lot of you guys don't work with resin, but that Aphrodite A Daibadi kit finally has some recasts out for PO on GK-M. Grab some if you'd like- just don't kill yourself with resin dust. You will also need at least two sets of Hobby Base Globe Joints, which GK-M also sells.

I'd post a link, but 4chan sees GK-M links as spam. Anyways, they are a trustable vendor, just post in their Guestbook section if you have questions. Some 4chan guys have bought stuff from there before.

are mechanicore kits good? i was slightly tempted by the tiefsturmer but i heard they're nightmares to assemble (flash, poor molding, etc). is it true or is it just inconsistent quality? only reason im asking is because that que looks pretty sweet and im a huge slut for haman

As far as I know, they have improved their quality since they did the Tiefsturmer. I wanted that one as well but the flash and molding issues drove me away from it. What I like about the Kyrosa Q is that instead of having cell batteries to power the LED's, they made it so a USB hub powers everything from the base up (similar to Bandai's method of lighting on the PG Unicorn). The runners look pretty good so far. I think I'm going to keep the white parts, and not paint them (they are actually a really light pink - I think it would look good with a flat coat).

I might as well ask here.

Is it okay to do partial paintjobs on 1/144 kits?
I'm currently waiting on a Gusion Rebake Full City kit and I noticed that it has awful stickers to cover some of the white parts of it, and they stand out real fucking bad.

Does it look odd if you just mask and paint those parts white, or do you have to do the full process and sand/prime and paint the whole kit?

I don't have any cremé brown paint laying about for the main colour scheme, but I do have some tamiya white so I can just mask and paint them partly instead.

No, I'd say that partial paintjobs are probably the most common thing done to 1/144 kits. What you're doing with the rebake is essentially just detail painting.

Just give it some topcoat afterwards so the finish is uniform across the whole kit.

I've never done partials or no-paint/top coat only on my kits since I've just built kotobukiya kits and painted them fully.

First bandai kit since i wanted something simple to put together and not spend an entire month doing it.

Thanks for the quick answers, I'll definitely do partial/detail paint on it.

Yeah, this is pretty much the limit of what I currently do since I don't want to make the jump to an Air Compressor.

And since you apparently have plenty of painting experience anyways, you should already known how to make white paint work, since it's suppose to be the most troublesome color.

I'm working on a graze custom using some geirail parts. I basically want a graze ground type, but more "guerilla" feeling than the actual ground type graze, so the geirail's legs work much better for that than the graze's standard high heels.

I have the MG F91, and I had no problems with it. Since it has no Core fighter, the construction is much simpler.

All the problems it has are shared with the Crossbone from what I've seen. The arms like to come apart at the elbows (though easily reattached), the Knee armor likes the pop off while posing (though easily attached), and its a pain in the ass to get the spare shield and beam sabers out of the side skirts. Also building the VSBRs gave me a hernia.

Aside from that, Once its all built its pretty solid and poses nicely. Also it has better parts separation than the Crossbone. I don't really know it it qualifies as a good MG though, since the only other one I have so far is the Kampfer, and that thing is ancient.

How would we even have an RG Leo? It's one of the simplest designs ever in the entire MSG franchise; its head doesn't even turn properly if we go by the animation model because of a weird chin piece locking it forward.

It would be even easier to build than a Bearguy or Hi-Mock even with a full internal frame because the Leo was Gundam's finest attempt at designing a real Grunt mecha that looked as easy to use and build and care for as it was fluffed to be.

Another color you like besides blue that still fits the kit. It helps to think of the Zeon faction overall probably, and go from there. Even if the kit is already grey, nice two tones of greys look great in some models. White also wouldn't look out of place. Maybe test out camo if you haven't before. There's plenty of ways to avoid blue, anon.

One thing that's necessary if you want to paint a different color is primer. If you want to paint white after all first prime in grey then prime that in white and then paint it white, saves lots of trouble.

As >>15010368 already mentioned, it's MBR-04 Mk-VI Destroid Tomahawk form SDF Macross. I love grunts from original Macross, and, sadly, they have a criminally small range of models, especially in comparison to Valkyries. And, yes, most of grunts were licensed for Battletech long time ago. They renamed this particular mech as a War Hammer, and it's even on a cover of early editions of wargame.
I've tried to find a reasonably priced kit for quite a long time, and recently there was a restock for them and HLJ offered a nice discount. I was lucky enough to grab the last one.
