Every mercenary/pirate group and their dog has started rigging up old Mobile Suit frames after seeing their efficacy against Gjallarhorn in Edmonton and outside Dort. I really hope the Geirail does end up being built by the Post Disaster equivalent of poor slavs

Question: How do I fix a broken waist peg?

Is there a place where I can just get the chest area as an extra part without having to pay another 30 dollars for a whole other kit that I'll probably not even use afterwords?

I was following the directions on a RG 1/144 Justice Gundam and the peg snapped off the waist as I used a tiny bit of pressure to move the hole into its proper position so it would be aligned when attaching things later on.

I still have the original peg, I saved it. I also have a screw that is of similar size that I can slip into the hole. The problem is making a hole of similar size on the other end where the peg broke.

If all else fails, I'm just going to end up using plastic weld and attaching the waist and torso together like that.

for what? Turn A is my personal favorite design so I'd say that one. but the Aegis is a pretty cool MS that has a cool MA mode. And Buster is pretty cool too. I however only built the Blitz MG out of the seed MGs so I don't know how good the Aegis/Buster are, I'd assume around the Blitz in quality which was fairly good.

The guide says there isn't that big a leap from HG to MG but are there any tips or things to watch out for you guys can provide. I've built three HG now and want to try something a bit bigger.

Build fatigue is a real problem at the MG level. By this I mean by the time you finish one leg you'll be loathe to do the second right after.

Also sometimes you can run afoul of brittle plastic.

Also I find they're most easily prone to parts breaking off of falling off in general even if you don't think you're abusing them, so keep some model cement and spare plastic runners in the box at all times.

Mostly though, expect to not follow instructions in the exact order unless you can endure back to back leg building, which is the absolute nadir of master grade gunpla.

What's the average build time for an MG? I finished my HG Barbatos, Turn A, and Zaku II in around 4-5 hours.

I can see how one leg taking like 45 minutes and then moving on to another could be hard back to back.

I used to average like a day per limb, and that's just casually assembling shit like a snap fag for a few hours a day.

If you're more dedicated you could get more done in less time, but you also likely have more on your plate what with painting and applying decals.

I actually like the Lupus, but the tiny waist with pistons is still too silly for me. It's almost FSS-levels of good except for that silly waist. At least mortar headds just had skinny, sexy waists. The entire V-shape of the piston is weird. It seems to serve no purpose and has no real motif.

Because when you make a model kit, any model kit, you're not just making the kit. You're preparing a canvas, and the battle damage or the paint or the panel lining is what finishes it. Stopping with it just put together is like throwing a slab of meat on a grill and pulling it off after 15 minutes, no spices or side dishes, no care if it's cooked evenly, and serving it to your friends. It's good, but it's just good. That's why nobody likes people saying GUNPLA IS FREEDOM over straight, out-of-box builds, because they haven't used that freedom to make it the best Zaku, 00, Turn X, or whatever that they could.

The GM is a Gundam without the core fighter, learning computer, Luna Titanium armor, and usually with a Beam Spray Gun instead of a Beam Rifle. The purpose of project V was to create a working ms for the ef to use. The three were the "finished" prototypes meant to gather combat and piloting data to use towards a mass production model. Not to be mass produced themselves.

In terms of overall preformance it is about on par or superior to the gundam pre-magnetic coating. Wanna get into gunpla, but I'm not a really big fan of the Gundam franchise, so I've been looking for other plamo's to build, specially from Batman or Monster Hunter. They don't even need to be mechas, but just action figures that I can paint and assemble to my liking.
And yes, I've seen some really awesome Batman themed custom gunplas, but I prefer something more canon before attempting a full repaint as my first project.

The thing is that there is a lot of choice once you get into things like third party kits but they're hard to find and require more work, and are also expensive.

In fact non-Bandai plamo in general is quite pricey. So even if you don't like Gundam, I would heavily suggest that you start with a gunpla, because it's cheap, easily available, and the engineering is often better engineered, nubs and seams more well hidden, mold quality more consistent, etc.

So there is less to fuck up and if you do, you are out 10 bucks, not 50.

I just tried panel lining with a pencil because I don't have a gray pen right now. It got a little smudgy despite best efforts. Unless I top coat am I pretty much always at risk to smudge pencil lines? Want to practice on my HG Barbatos but don't want it to look smudgy and shitty and the weather sucks right now for top coating

you can fix the smudges with an eraser, if it can't reach then just cut a tiny piece off your eraser and pick it with a tweezers
