Starting September 1st, you have two months to build, customize, and paint a mobile suit of your choice into your own personal design. This can range from just a repainted Zaku to a kitbashed Gundam loaded with any spare rifles and Rocket Launchers you can find. Any suit from any series is fair game, just stick to 1/144 kits and you're good. When you're done feel free to post it in the thread, but also send pics to [email protected] so that all the entries can be judged/posted at once when the group build is over (If you don't want to be judged for the contest just feel free to mention it when you send in your pics).

Go to your LHS or whatever online store you use and start buying supplies then anon. There's tons of tutorials on modding from simple things like peg cutting that lets you undo snapped parts to scratch building vents and all that. And in terms of funnels/bits there's an option parts pack that has some too, if you don't want to waste the Nu Gundam pack.

Looking at the parts on the left here, that might just plug into the holes on the top of the Jegan's backpack. If they did, I'd even be able to maintain the Jegan look by pointing the funnel pods up. That would be a huge boon to me.

It does look a bit big though. If I were to place the pods I mentioned before onto the Jegan, the pods would be about the size of it's thighs.

I'll do some looking, I'd really like to use fin funnels over the more standard bits.

Fug. I guess I'll just back off the funnels for now and come back to it after I get every I'd need to paint it up like the Hi-Nu. The stock Jegan would already look good in that scheme anyway.

I suppose I'd rather worry about making sure I don't ruin the kit painting it before customizing it to hold funnels.

I won't have to worry about it for a while, since I probably won't get around to painting/customizing my Jegan till next summer or so, classes have been eating up most of my time lately. I probably won't even be able to build it for a good week or two after it arrives this Friday, since I have midterms coming up.

First time poster, long time builder. I have a dilemma. I'm planning to paint and customize the new Origins Gundam Local Type, but I'm using the Mk. II's torso and side skirts. I'd like like to use the Mk. II's feet as well (since the Local Type has hideous feet IMO), but I can't think of any way to make them fit. Posting two caps of the feet/legs from both manuals, for reference. Any ideas (even other model feet) are welcome.

Sorry for the potato quality image, I'm traveling and have to use my mobile software, as I'm not bringing my PC across the country for a convention.

Working on a zaku. I don't Like how its got missle pods on the legs, I think they look dumb as fuck. I'm going to try mounting them on the backpack with some drill work and runners.

Might give this a whirl, it's what I was thinking, too; pinning/gluing the ball joint from the Local feet onto the Mk. II's ankle. As bad as this sounds, the ankle armor will hide it if it's a little sloppy.

Like the others said it's from ZZ gundam. It was competing with the Doven Wolf to be Neo Zeon's big MP unit. Unlike the Doven Wolf which focused on overwhelming integrated firepower, the Zaku III was made to be more modular like the EF MS and had a bunch of option parts. The Doven wolf won the MP contract but they still made some Zaku III and the green one was Mashymre's unit with his preferred option parts.

He was pretty good in it too, if the Doven wolf squad hadn't intervened and overwhelmed him with sheer numbers he was about to kill the Queen Mansa.

I thought the one from the banner looked sick because it looks like a mix between the Unicorn and Banshee.
I just don't like the gold bling of the Phenex or the black/orange of the Banshee but I like the extra ornate headpiece and the shields.

Preshading contrasts too much IMO. Dark blue looks like some dust or something got caught in it. You also have some noticeable paint chipping/scratching. Lastly, there are some places where a panel wash might have helped bring out the detail. Overall, not a bad first attempt.

I've built their Slug Flyer which is kinda lackluster.
Got their Slug Tank still unbuild but from the looks of it, shit's fucking amazing, complete with inner-frame, effect parts, stand, and optional transparent armor part, and at the same price of the Flyer which is fucking cheap.
Much better than the official model kit from Wave.
Can't wait for this to come out.

I got some minor moonrune reading abilty. The description basically reads as the Gerail being a predecessor model to the Graze which was phased out as the Graze was newer and more versatile overall when introduced. The main problem I've had with my Victory is that it's completely built around being as show accurate as it can be with the transformation, which leaves it kind of floppy with all the folding bits and such.

Macross kits in general are handgrenades, but that's mostly the kits from Frontier and the VF-1 that was released around the same time. The Delta kits are generally engineered much better, and don't fall apart as easily (I'm speaking only on my experience with the VF-31 and the opinions of other anons, as well as dalong's reviews on the VF-25 and VF-1).

Stickers aplenty, as well. Transforming the VF can be rather stressful.

Looking into buying my first MG but half the shit sounds like it has a habit of just breaking. Is that true or are people stupid. For instance I was looking into MG Char's Zaku II and the guy said a few pegs just broke off. Some guy in response was like lol just put a pin in it and then glue and I don't accept that as a solution to a fucking 30-50 dollar kit
