Would you consider this show to be /m/?
>>14787320
The mechanical stuff is
>Is a show about a guy in a power suit in a futuristic scifi city with robots, power armor, construction mechs, and cyborgs /m/.Terry is actually Bruce's son.
>>14787320
Mcginnis is /m/ as fuck.
>>14787320
>Would you consider this show to be /m/?
It's also a (mini) kaiju show.
Too bad the show needed to have its finale in a different show
>>14787481
But that other show is fucking based tho.
>>14787495
I didn't say Justice League was bad, I just felt that it stings a little that the show didn't get to have its finale in its own show
>>14787320
When you consider the concept, this show was better than it had any right to be.
>>14787612
I think Phantom 2040 did futuristic legacy hero better honestly.
Would this be considered /m/ material?
>>14787612
A lot of those DC Saturday morning series in the 90s and early 00's were far better than they had any right to be. Especially when you consider how bad DC is doing now in almost everything they try.
I was just rewatching the show this month for like the 5th time, and it still remains a classic. McGinnis was a great Batman junior, but the other real highlight is old Bruce still kicking ass from the seat of the batcave. If you ever feel like you want to explore more into the story that was left unfinished, I strongly recommend reading the comic volumes that were out recently. It has old man Nightwing, so fuck yeah.Just stay as far away from Future's End or any of the New 52 comics that feature Batman Beyond.
>>14787668
What I liked was that Terry really isn't some bruce/batman junior(I know that he technically is "Bruce junior"). He's got his own personality, his own hangups and issues to deal with, and he wasn't as smart or talented as Bruce was but has Bruce teaching him and he works around that.
I also like that he wasn't some better than the original no depth sue character. He has anger problems and he's often ignorant which gets him into trouble a lot, but you can actually see him improving across the series.
Terry was a good character in his own right and avoided the pitfalls new batmen replacements typically fall into.
>>14787619
But was Phantom 2040 a case of "PUT THIS HERO IN HIGH SCHOOL"?
reminder this show had the single best "clayface clone"
>>14787840
Phantom 2040 never fought momias
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Vl0sss7WBI
>>14787840
I think he actually was in school, or at least college.
>>14787320
Wasn't there a spinoff series about a literal android or am I remembering something else?
>>14788046
>https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Zeta_Project
Yup, looks like it.
>>14788046
Yeah, Zeta Project
Which I think crossed over with Static Shock too?
>>14787654
>robot Watson
Why yes, yes it is.
>>14787660
That's the strength of the DCAU staff at Warner Bros. animation for you. Shame they barely get to do much nowadays though.
>>14787840
The game sure wasn't, at least.
>>14787619
On the bright side, it was better at being hip and relevant than The Batman.
>>14788087
>Shame they barely get to do much nowadays though.
That's because all modern kids want is the lol so random crap.
I don't think Terry would have been as good of a character as is if someone other than Will Friedle voiced him.
>>14788087
Warner Bros. Animation was never good.
>>14788087
>Shame they barely get to do much nowadays though.
Part of me really wants there to be a new DCAU series, except instead of being knocked around by Cartoon Network they make it available through a streaming service.
>>14787320
Me? Gee, sure, I mean I WOULD, but Larry over there, see Larry uh, he's got a big stick up his ass over what's /m/ and what isn't. So I mean I would call it /m/, but uh, Larry? He'd just call you a spic.
>>14787668
>Punished Grayson
>A robin stripped of his wings
>[whoahoooas in the distance]
>>14787371
MAN FUCK THAT LAST EPISODE OF JLU.
>>14787320
Yee
>>14787320
The movie of this and the Batman TAS movie were really fucking great. The Phantom Mask or whatever. Remember renting them at Hollywood Video.
>>14787668
>>14787668
I hate capeshit with a passion, but Beyond was fuckin delicious and I ate that shit up like no tomorrow
>>14787499
>I just felt that it stings a little that the show didn't get to have its finale in its own show
That finale sucks and it's better to pretend it never happened. I'm glad it didn't taint its own show.
>>14787320
No, it's /co/
>>14789080
Yea, I dislike everything Epilogue revealed about Terry and what it means for the Batman mantle/role. Saying only someone of Bruce's lineage can be a Batman is retarded, and I like the idea that anyone can be that skilled and that dedicated given the proper motivation. And that it's the motivation that's important, not the DNA. I saw something the other day about Terry getting some new comics and the first arc is about reviving the Joker and that irks me too, becuase while The Return of the Joker is a great film I like that Terry mostly had his own villains and problems. They might have been copies of normal Batman ones in effect, but they were his and I'd prefer a new comic deal with those instead. He fought the Joker one and has to deal with his legacy on occasion through the Jokerz and that should be enough.
>>14790831
Return of the Joker works because Joker acted like the Batman he was dealing with was the same person.
Which is why Terry was able to get under his skin when Bruce couldn't, because Terry is a different person.
>>14790831
> And that it's the motivation that's important, not the DNA.
Agreed.
Honestly the reason BB works is because Terry is genuinelya more interesting Batman than Bruce
>>14793521I agree.
>>14787320
Isn't this just Batman: Blade Runner?
>>14787847
best for my dick
>>14793749
Well cyberpunk batman in general, yeah.
>>14790845
Terry realizing how to get under Joker's skin in the finale is the highlight of the film and makes for a great fight yea.
>>14793521
I agree too, because Terry is, for a start, allowed to be imperfect and dumb while Bruce has to be the best at everything ever and super intelligent and awesome. And it's kind of wearing. Terry has a lot less baggage and social expectation than Bruce, so he's just a more fun Batman. Even when one of the Robin's gets their own thing, the expectation is there they'll be top dog in everything, robbing them of some of the vitality they could have.
Old Bruce in Beyond is pretty fantastic though.
>>14793751
Hi Aaron.
>>14793749
Not really.
>>14791059
Yeah, even his girlfriend is confuse.
>>14790767
>>14787322
It can be both you dumbfucks
Guess all mecha anime should go in /a/ then
Batman Beyond was pretty schway
CHAINSAW KNEEEES!
>>14795101
I really need to get a better quality picture of them in motion.
>>14794888
No, senpai. I agree with >>14790831.
Motivation >>>> DNA bullshit.
>>14793853
Old Bruce is like a completely different character. As other boards have said, he has just stopped giving a fuck because he fought for decades, and Gotham went to shit anyway. Hence why he became so much harsher and more bitter.
Still, at least he got to put a suit back on one last time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIRCnkwnHqM
>>14795020
Don't be such a twip.
>>14787654
Absolutelyschwarbage.I still can remember the theme though
>>14787668
I picked up the first BB in the Rebirth line. It wasn't bad, the red eyes are 10/10 for when he wants to be the scary figure coming out of the shadows, but garbage for every other shot. We'll see how it goes as it continues
>>14788046
Zeta Project was probably the worst thing in the DCU. Still enjoyable for the most part
>>14799079
>Zeta Project was probably the worst thing in the DCU. Still enjoyable for the most part
I was going to say "worse than the season of Static Shock that was just nothing but celebrity cameos?" But then I thought about it and realized nah, Zeta was still worse.
>>14797143
I dislike the implication about DNA and would have preferred they made it if anything that Terry was kinda a failed attempt at recreating Bruce since he isn't a clone but instead his son and his own person. As much as the "YOU NEED TO BE A WAYNE TO BE BATMAN" is stupid the reason I like the finale is just seeing that Bruce and Terry naturally developed a father son relationship, and it felt much more familial than anything Bruce developed with prior protégés.
>>14790831
>>14800222
At least they realized it's not just the DNA and she tried to have the Phantasm kill his parents too. But that didn't go as planned.
>>14800222
>and it felt much more familial than anything Bruce developed with prior protégés.
Yeah, especially compared to Damian, the other legitimate son.
Fuck Damian, he's the worst thing to happen to the batman series in a long time.
>>14800311
Damian is fine when he's not with Bruce and he serves as Nightwings protege. Tim best serves the role of Bruce's protege and Terry serves best as his son.
>>14800266
That's why I don't mind the ending as it wasn't like Terry was a clone, they attempted to literally recreate Batman but instead they gave him a son. Terry has some good genes but really that only helped with athletics since he wasn't a natural detective like Bruce, Terry instead has a particularly high specialty for thinking on his feet and was even more technologically minded to the point even Bruce is surprised and commends him, albeit backhandedly.
I love the cartoon, but outside of Blight, none of the villains have the same force of personality any of Batman's regular rogues did
>>14801767
At the least, Mad Stan was fun, even if he was never relevant. The guy had simple needs.Blow it all up.
If I wanted to get into the DCAU, where should I start? Batman the Animated Series?
>>14801767
Honestly they gave us one of the best sendoffs of Mr. Freeze that you can
>Believe me, you're the only one who cares.
>>14800333
>Terry instead has a particularly high specialty for thinking on his feet
And he can multiply any 2 double digit numbers instantly.
>>14801793
Either Batman or Superman. Batman started it all, but while Batman's best episodes are better than Superman's, Superman has more consistently good episodes. Superman has like 1 outright bad episode, Superman's Pal. Batman has like 12 bad episodes to its name.
>>14801793
>If I wanted to get into the DCAU, where should I start? Batman the Animated Series?
Batman TAS (109 episodes) --> Superman TAS (54 episodes) --> Justice League (52) --> Justice League Unlimited (39).
>>14802240
>>14802207
Ooof, 109 episodes, and I can see why the difference between bad episodes and good episodes cause Batman TAS is twice the length of Superman TAS
>>14802314
>Ooof, 109 episodes,
Git gud scrub.
Reminder that DCAU Static could take out the whole League.
>>14787654
every once in a while i'll be taking a shower and that damn song will pop into my headWATSOOOON
Sup.
>>14802408
65 year old Static, yes. Not young Virgil.
Old Static is stupid powerful.
>>14802206
Mr. Freeze had a hard life, even here.
>>14802314
In fairness, the staff had it tough on BTAS for some things, I recall them loathing having to do "Batman in my basement".
>>14802559
Richie probably fixed him up with bang baby gas steroids. That and the future making more powerful electronics more common place certainly helps
>>14802480
funny how its always robots who fuck all the superhero's upits funny because i know people who are adamant that supes is unbeatable
>>14802559
yeah but can old virgil take on old fat shaq?
