I don't generally like mech fights in Sentai to begin with, although I've only seen a few Sentai series other than Zyuohger, and so my benchmark for "kickass quality mech fights" is fucking Go-Busters.

I like pic related's effect, pre-CGI era in Gingaman. It reminds me of that horror film, Hausu, and is a definite contrast to Megaranger's over-reliance on CGI.


Anyways, thinking of next week's two Sentai teams meeting really makes me want another giant 10-man team like in Kyoryuger again. Gokaigers and Zyuohger's have such a great chemistry within their teams, and it'll be so exciting to see them play off each other, but two episodes just isn't enough. Although I think if we had another gigantic team like Kyoryuger, it'd probably just turn into Red worship again.

Anyways, I can't be satisfied unless Gokaiger comes back every year for at least five episodes.

And they didn't totally disappear with the 90's and early 2000's. Remember the first episode of Shinkenger where Shinkenred flat out decapitates the monster? I mean there wasn't any blood but you could clearly see Red's giant Final Fantasy-esque sword go through the damn thing's neck.

ToQ was such a surprisingly good series to me. It started all silly and funny and I loved it and then it just went full fucking edgelord, but it still managed to be fun and silly. I hated the mech but the rest of the show was top notch. The only part of the mech Fight I liked was train dick.

Speaking of this meme, it's always makes a difference, I think, when an actor in toku loves or hates a role. People like Renn Kiriyama who played Kamen Rider W, or Tsukumaro Ogami who played GaoSilver. They have such passion for the roles they played even years later.

It's a little odd, but this is why I wish Shokotan would have gotten a role on Sentai again like she wanted. She may be weird and not your typical Sentai actress, but she wants it so bad she would put every bit of heart and soul she could muster into her role.

Gokaiger is one of my favorite seasons because it does an actually commendable job paying tribute to the past seasons. It's nice seeing returning actors and getting a sort of continuation/final chapter to so many past Sentai.

My one gripe is that that for the Magiranger episode, they didn't use this ability.

That was Director Nakazawa's fault. He directed three tribute episodes (Geki, Ginga, Jet) and notice how two of them were the ones that didn't use the theme? He was questioned about it in one of the interviews and responded about how it's only appropriate to play the theme song if the battle needs it/it's a heated moment in the show, so he chose not to use it for two of his three tributes.

What's even more interesting is the length of the fight in the Jetman episode and the way it is edited made the Jetman theme fit perfectly, (the Geki fight is too short for the theme) so they probably decided against using the Jetman theme late into that episode's post production.

You know what, I hate the Zyuranger suit. Well, hate is a strong word, more like it looks crappy for me.

Personally I feel most of the "likes" from it come from MMPR, and with many people being introduced with it, they think it's "decent" as they have nothing else to compare it to back then.

It's a massive step down to Jetman, and I'm glad Dairanger got better suits.

The helmets are OK and the pattern is boring, but the one thing that the Zyuranger suits absolutely nail is the amount of white they use. Some suits are absolutely horrid about this, and I really appreciate that they give us just enough to keep it an accent without overwhelming what's supposed to be the suit's primary color.
