Thanks, man. But no, I don't have a DA or tumblr or anything. Mostly because I started taking art seriously just last year and I have only recently gotten to this somewhat ok skill level. I was just utter garbage before and didn't feel the need to post my trash anywhere. I started going digital just three or four months ago. Pham-nee there is actually my first finished digital piece. I'll probably do a tumblr or something by the end of this year, but until then, random draw threads will have to do.

First reply you got answers your question, so here's some other advice.

Are you looking to draw shit? Be prepared to hate it. You will never stop hating it. No matter how much you improve you're always going to be peeved by your work. This happens to literally everyone. You think your work is shit? Everyone else thinks theirs is shit too. No reason to be depressed.

Practice a fuckton. If you mope nothing happens. Simple as that, and while you're at it, never stop. There's always room to improve

Acknowledge your flaws. If you see that you have difficulty drawing something then you know what you need to practice. Shirking away from your weaknesses will lead to DA syndrome where you get stuck in a rut or go nowhere artistically for years.

Do NOT think about "style". This is irrelevant until you get your fundamentals down. Fundamentals are topics or skills which you learn in drawing which are always applicable and never go away no matter what you do. These include things like construction, perspective, etc. Make sure that stuff's in good shape both before and while you start experimenting.

Do NOT think you need a fucking tablet. You know those fundamental skills I just mentioned? Having fancy digital tools changes fuckin' none of 'em. Anything that you can learn specific to software or such tools are hardware-specific tricks, and unrelated to actual skills that are applicable to all drawing. If you make hairy IRL lines chances are a tablet won't stop this; you have to beat hairy lines out of your system.

/ic/ can be a shitty board but its sticky is a good starting point. Many of the books in it can be found for free. I'd suggest Keys To Drawing over Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain because DRSB is full of pseudoscience babble that's irrelevant to development.

A while back in one of the SRW threads there was a suggestion for an original unit that was a super robot built by the high school student council president's parents and piloted by him and his girlfriend.

The catch was it was, behind the fancy exterior, Daiguard tier terrible.

It would be great if someone had a go at drawing their take on it - an incredibly showy white and gold Yuusha style robot with three sheathed swords at its hip, posing dramatically with cherry blossoms all around.

What program do you use? Tbh all of my digital shit has been on the Sketchbook mobile app from Autodesk. I couldn't really explain in detail as I've only just started going digital almost a year ago. I don't like my lines being too dark so I do everything with an HB pencil type brush to get that sketchy feel. I'm still pea brained when it comes to colors/shades/blends and all that so for now most of my stuff is straight monotone

I use the same app but coloring is always my biggest problem. Anyway thanks for the tip, I just mostly needed to know how you color and what tools you use specifically.

Different anon, but cheers for the advice none the less! I've had a sudden urge to go out and buy some pencils to take another shot at learning to draw within the last week so it's nice to have some guidelines to follow. Particularly when it comes to the style thing. I think I'm a little too concerned about what I want (or in most cases DON'T want) my art to look like without even having the basics down. Trying to run before learning to crawl, I guess.

I'll keep this in mind. And if my skill develops enough and I draw some /m/ stuff I may even contribute to one of these threads some day.
