The other characters mention that they were warped away testing the ART-1. Masaki got there because IIRC he just got lost hard or something.

OE just has Masaki as a cameo, in the same way X-O just has Granteed as a cameo (though that had an event with some plot to it, X-O events aren't canon with its main plot anyway as far as I'm aware).
