SRW 1 is all about soloing the game, using more than one unit makes stages a lot harder and longer.

Deploy the Great Mazinger, and find a hobo with a high movement range who can pick up all the various hiding treasures and never actually take part in combat.

Gundam can just use the Waverider, and Getter uses Getter Robo (since you can CHANGE GETTER 2), but I don't know how Mazinger would swing it. Probably use Z for an episode or two until something else with better range shows up.
