IBO is going to be just strange to work into a SRW, it is technically post apocalyptic but not really either since it is long after humanity has recovered fully.

Also something else that gets rarely touched on or brought up about IBO, there are no energy weapons at all. Everything is plain old physical bullets, missiles, rockets and bludgeoning weapons. There are no beam weapons, beam sabers, masers, colony lasers, even the capital ships don't have anything more than auto-turrets, sentry guns and high calibur cannons.

It's even a point that being able to replace the Gundam's armour is some kind of witchcraft due to the tools they have at their disposal making it difficult to replicate the composite alloys used in the armour.

When IBO does get in it's either going to be through a lazily written multi-dimensional shenanigans again, a time jump. Or a VERY low tech SRW which quite frankly the devs seem terrified of since every low tech series in a SRW ever has been handwaved with time travel or a another dimension instead of trying to make a consistent world.

Meh, if they can work Dragonar in without people flipping out over what guns everyone's using (the Customs' Bazookas aside) I don't think IBO will cause that much of a stir techwise.

Setting-wise the Calamity War might not be a bad backdrop for something like AGE's big ancient clusterfuck. GX and Turn A (and maybe shit like Xabungle or GxS) don't seem like they'd work in too badly either.

Also the story treats the alternate Earth as a Shadowverse of sorts using the Linebarrel anime. I seem to remember them using the Machina hivemind to prove the Third Impact's concept is fucking stupid and they simply abort it and change plans.

Actually L in general was marked by some odd twists with most human antagonists ending up being incredibly reasonable people and people actually talking out misunderstandings.

Chapter 44 Part 1
We cut back to the Orbital Base to see what exactly's going on with the characters who were left behind in the attack on the Devil Colony. Tex is treating Allenby's DG Cell problems while everyone else is assigned on defense duty.

The Dancouga villains lead by Helmut and Shapiro decide to take advantage of the opportunity and sends out a full 49 units + their mothership to crush the 4 girls and the immobile Excelion. The Black Knight arrives as a reinforcement to help out the turn afterwards.

A while in and then the Gandor will make a suicide rush to take down Helmut's ship however he gets attacked by a set of spawned reinforcements. Black Knight gets his identity revealed as Alan Igor, Commander Igor's son as he tries to save his father from getting blown up. Shinobu and the rest of the CBF arrive to help out which causes Hazuki to unveil the final code "FINAL DANCOUGA" causing Dancouga + Black Wing to combine.

Final Dancouga blows up some of the enemy units and we continue the assault. Inspired by Final Dancouga's formation, Noriko opts to get Gunbuster and she shows off some of its combat prowess. The stage changes to blow up Helmut's ship in 5 turns so you have to do some accel and support attack abuse to take him down with only Final Dancouga and Gunbuster as the others will be defending the base so you don't lose to the other game over condition.

When you blow up Helmut's ship, Shapiro will run off and Shinobu kills him with the Final Dankuuhou.

On a gameplay related note, Final Dancouga loses the Dankuukougaken MAPW and trades the vanilla Dankuuhou for a 1-3P Aggressive Beast Charge which runs on Shinobu's inferior Melee stat. Although I'd sooner take this than Elly not being able to use a non MAPW version of Aerods in her hyper mode.

Gundam is just the easy way. There's no problems with licensing since it's by the same guys funding the games in the first place, and it's the most popular giant robot franchise so it'll always bring in a whole bunch of buyers.

L was a interesting oddball of a game when you look back at it the selection of main writer for one thing.

It had two main writers one was Nakagawa Naoto who has participated in L, UX and BX. However main writing duties was given to this guy Kato Yoichi who was one of the main writers of Uchuu Kyodai, did a few eps of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and is the current main writer for Yokai Watch.

There is also the matter of how it was mentioned Masami Obari himself had a large say in the pick and selection of series for L.

Some of the more interesting things the plot did that I remember.

S-Destiny had a straight up re-write in virtually everything enough that it borderline warrants it's own little discussion because there are vast changes. It may not be apparent but L's Shinn is actually pretty mellow. Sting is less of a generic grunt with a face and is written pretty sympathetically. All the various factions keep scratching each others backs instead of stepping on each others toes, Stella lives no matter what.

Far as Wing went you got Zechs way before any of the other boysand most of the Wing boys belonged to existing roups/organizations. It also draws a lot of parallels by having Voltes/Combattler, Gundams/Macross and Iczer 3/1 are just straight up alternate universe versions of each other.
