I think they're doing these based on popularity with older audiences. Gaim was obviously a big hit with otaku thanks to Urobuchi, and all the Gaidens were about characters popular with fujoshi. Drive seemed to be at least sort of popular with older audiences judging by Figuarts sales, and both Chase and Heart were beloved enough to end up trending on Twitter when they died. If Ghost gets anything, it'll probably be Alain focused.

Wizard and Ghost.

Magic has so much lore and history yet Wizard was so shallow about the whole thing. Haruto was just your standard Black Magician, Lupacchi Magic was never given any background, and every other magician Rider was barely present with hardly any interesting style of magic to them. Closest thing was that Beast was MAYBE status altering magician with shaman roots (though not really anything actually related to your average shaman magic).

Wizard should have gone all out. Wiseman should have found multiple magicians and secretly pit them against each other to find the strongest magicians for his plans.

Ghost just doesn't feel ghostly to me. Call me a sucker for All Hollow's Eve, but this hard spiritualist route is boring. Maybe it would have been more interesting if the MC was an older wise hermit. A kid who just turned 18 doesn't work as guy who should be mentoring other people about death. Can't even give him a pass because he's a Buddhist because he doesn't come off as a diehard Buddhist.

Something like looks like Ghost should be going the Halloween route. His base suit alone screams Halloween, even moreso than Kiva. That color scheme. That skeleton costume armor. That bedsheet ghost face and hoodie. That bike that looks like belongs to a modern headless horseman. Those gadgets that are staple Halloween critters. That eyeball gimmick. I get that Japan doesn't have Halloween, but Toei definitely understands it enough to take good aesthetic inspiration from it. Ghost should have been like Kiva, but without the love and without the sucking balls. Spiritualism should be a secondary theme that would play into the MC's development and rise to higher power. Not some weird psuedo sci-fi, alien(?) thing going on now.

Haruto's choices about certain Gates and other such things were just destructive and Shunpei was just a terrible character that I never liked seeing on screen. The present day plot was already convoluted but Maya snaking her way in just ruined a lot of 86 for me too. They'd have to be rewritten or taken out. I also hated how the 86 cast essentially failed in nearly every encounter against Fangire. Then you have baby Taiga killing his dad. God the 08 plot was garbage.

Jirou was a mess. He does need to be rebuilt. But if he ends up with Yuri her kids will be members of his race.
