When I was about 9 years old, a boy a little younger than me got into an accident on his bike right in front of my house. He was still learning to ride, and despite having training wheels on his bike, he lost control and swerved right into a moving car. His leg was badly twisted, I think broken, and people came rushing over to him, including me since I was playing in my driveway at the time. All the adults that had gathered began panicking, no one know what to do, everyone had bad ideas like trying to twist his leg back to shape or tie a tourniquet around it, and no one had even called 911 yet because they were so upset. Amazingly, I took charge and started ordering people around. "You; call 911, you; get some ice, you; bunch up your jacket and put it under his leg. Be gentle!" I still vividly remember doing this, and I can't imagine how strange it must have looked for a 9 year old to be barking orders at adults like a drill sergeant. But they listened to me, and I managed to get everything under control. The paramedics arrived not long after, and the whole thing was over as quickly as it began.

A few days later, his mother knocked on our door to thank me for my help and deliver a picture he drew in the hospital. It was a scribbled crayon drawing of me, with big letters saying "Thank you!" at the top. I never saw that boy again, but 20 years later and I still have that drawing stashed away in a filing box somewhere. That day is honestly one of my proudest memories.

Does anyone here watch Kamen Rider without subs? I'm making an effort to start learning Japanese, and I'm wondering how many years of effort it would take to understand toku shows.

I've never made an effort to actually learn Japanese properly, I just learned basics and went from there, so I can't really judge that well, however I can watch Sentai and modern Rider rather effortlessly and older Heisei with maybe having to dive into a dictionary a couple of times throughout the episode. It's probably less effort that you'd think it would take since Rider is oriented for young adult audience at most, but you shouldn't expect a comfortable watch after a year of studies either, I don't think.

I'm fucking nauseous. I stayed up all night because how worried I was. Amazons was our last shot to prove that Toei can do mature Rider. If it didn't blow critics away and break viewer records, then it was fucking over, Amabros.

I wanted Amazons to get a 10/10 from all reviewers. I wanted Ghostfags to be FORCED to watch Amazons. I wanted them to cry as they're forced to spend a week, watching our show.

But it didn't, Amazons was a disaster and received mediocre reviews..

How do I calm down? How do I ease myself as I come to terms with the fact that Amazons is a failure?

The webm you linked takes place in Hibiki's universe but it's from Decade's show, neither of which I'd recommend as a good start as Hibiki is different and Decade relies on previous seasons.
Good starts I'd say are Black for Showa, Kuuga for early Heisei, W for phase 2. Showa is the kind of cheese you'd expect from an older costumed hero thing, Kuuga tries to play a serious police focused while laid back show, and W starts the collectible gimmicks in a detective style setting. The guy in that picture is Wizard which is a show you want to avoid like hell.

If you /a/ a lot outside precure there's some names you might recognise as head writers for certain shows if that's worth anything.

I'd recommend starting with W, which you can find subbed by Over-Time along with every other Rider show since then. It's a great show that set the standards for a lot of what Rider has been for the past seven years.

The other guy in the pic there is Kamen Rider Wizard, which is considered the only outright bad show since 2010. It gets compared to the current Precure season because it's about a wizard who uses magic rings.

Honestly, what criticisms would you give Wizard that couldn't be applied to Ghost? The only big differences I can think of are the things Wizard did better, like fun to watch fights and an actually likeable secondary rider (Necrom's only really good in comparison to the rest of Ghost's cast, while Nitoh would be a great addition to basically any show).

As least the form choices in Wizard make a lot more sense than Ghost. Basic elemental powers that have different applications for different spell, with Dragon boosting up them to perform beyond their conceptual limits. Beast also applies too, since his animal powers allow him to do different spells that Wizard can't.

Ghost, on the other hand, has been nitpicking historical figures to put into the modes he is allowed to use, and most of them are really unnecessary. 3 gun forms (Edison, Billy the Kid, Ryoma) are too much and he always goes back to using Musashi or some sword form all the time. Spectre's forms are somewhat uninspired, while Necrom's are okay and unique. All together, the 15 forms don't have as much variety as the elemental concept in Wizard. It's pretty difficult to fix this for Ghost at this point, but he's just going to abuse Grateful anyway, so I doubt it matters at all.

Edison's silver is just trash, they should have left it at the screws and antennae. Benkei's silver lining makes it look like they just put white on black and called it a day. Base Boost meshes but I'm not a 12 year old or interested in hot wheels so I can tell you the flames and the bright red are obnoxious. I like the coat of Goemon but the colors are the kind of thing you use to torture prisoners. And Grateful had such a promising Ultimate Kuuga vibe until it decided it had to be covered in faces and wear whatever that abomination of a helmet is.

Shocker's enhancements could still be improved though. Remember that the original belt needed external wind to function and didn't have a cover. Rider 2 came shortly after 1 and he was already supposed to be strong enough to beat him. V3's equipment was super to 1's and he wasn't the product of Shocker at all.

I'm going to go full fanfic here for a bit. The Super Hero Taisen movies had a running continuity of sorts, where the legend Riders showed up where they didn't before Decade. However, GP involved a bit of time fuckery with the history modifying machine; they still remember what happened in the alternate world and Gou remained dead so there's precedent for change, not the original timeline before the events. I think this movie can fit into continuity under the assumption that Ichigo takes back the knowledge of what just happened and decides to improve himself further. In the original series you can assume that Ichigo was supported by a new wave of Riders and the fact that he was in his prime.

But, no matter how many Riders there were down the road, the Double Riders captured marked the beginning of a Shocker controlled world. So instead of settling for his current good enough partnership, he puts his brain to use and improves himself. Less of a flashy style, more brute force, he fights for justice but becomes a better soldier so that no matter what, he doesn't fall to Shocker. It's selfish and lonely but the alternative he's seen with his own eyes is worse.

I'm sure that comes off as edgy or whatever but the point is that it can slide into the story just fine.
