Grungust actually got some improvements to its weapon ranges and performance in OGG, as did Cybuster. It's just not enough to save either of them.

Come 2ndOG Grungust Kai is much more worth using.

We're not getting ART-2 and 3, we'll likely see the proper AR-Series in either this game or the next one. Wildfalken and Wildwurger are roughly on par with the new Wildraubtier, and having a combo attack automatically makes them good, it's just that Seolla and Arado are still weak pilots. Agree with you that Ganduro desperately needs some kind of upgrade, though.

Wurger's weapons are fine, the problem is it has no range AND no ALL without equipable weapons. So it's not as strong as the Alt and has a few more issues than it. Still perfectly usable on its own though, unlike the Falken.

I wish they'd let us buy equipable weapons, even if there's a limited stock for the rare ones or they only show up on certain stages like Z's bazaar or something. Letting us buy ability parts in DP was a step in the right direction for that system, now they really need to make equipable weapons worth a shit for anything but patching holes in unit's ranges again.

I'd be okay with this and the nerfed upgrade ranks if they lowered the costs to upgrade.

Hell I'd be fine if equippables were made to be weaker than built in weapons as long as those upgrade costs stay low, either that or they reflect the equipped unit's weapon upgrade rank.
