***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Quick potato photo, but muh Zaku.

Some of the leg parts wont fully snap together and I need to go over them again since I painted the parts separately, airbrush troubles gave a shitty coat for the colour highlight, and I forgot to paint the nose.

However rhinestones are pretty neat to use for lenses, next up I'm going to dirty up the armour and maybe paint some stripes on the shield.
>>
>>13989720
Fix the shading on the right leg dude, looks weird as hell, the rest are nicely done though. I recommend getting a bottle of plastic cement to fix those gigantic seamlines.

What size Rhinestone do you typically use?
>>
>>13989777
I think it was 3mm? They pretty much fit perfectly inside the scopes of the zook and rifle, and look dope when the light catches them.

>>13989736
You should see the left leg, there's a whole patch missing! I think I might go back to half assembling models rather than painting the individual parts, it just ends up messy since the snap pins are so incredibly tight if paint gets on them.
>>
>>13989770
Gaplant.
And I'm seeing if I can prime outside, so that I can finally paint this shit I'm doing.

Waiting on some new silver paint so I can finish detailing my EFSF Zaku F2.
After that I'll assemble my GM Custom. All of its parts are cleaned up and ready to go, I just have to wait a bit before I can paint the details I want to do.

Hoping to get the 1/144 HGGT FULL ARMOR GUNDAM (GUNDAM THUNDERBOLT VER.) soon, but I read that there's gonna be an anime version to be released in april. Should I just wait for that or pick up the older model. From the pictures I can't really tell the difference apart from a slight color tweak.

>>13989889
It it just a slight color tweak and (probably) some new decals, Pick the older one if you're going to paint it.

Do you keep the accessory parts to each gunpla in its box? If so you can organise them into a draw or something, correctly labeled.

If you just have a bunch of random accessory parts you can store them in a couple of the boxes and collapse the rest.

Correcto, although it'll be using the regular colours. I think I might still pre-shade some of the white armour recessed areas with dark grey, as I don't want it looking pristine.

Although it's funny comparing the 90mm Submachine gun vs. the older 100mm Submachine gun previously ground types used, the barrel is tiny!

Break out the pla-plate or buy a hand set. No need to keep butchering when you can replace and potentially make your skills better.

I must've stepped into the the twilight zone.

I got to work chopping up another hand and broke a blade, managed to quite cleanly slice off a finger gap and all is well. Had a look over at over things when I went retard mode and tipped over the whole box of parts onto the floor.

Scooped the whole lot back up... and then I find the fucking hand part I lost, madness.

I promise I'm not a dirty hippie, but is there such thing as eco-friendly plamo?

I only want to know out of sheer curiosity.

I'm talking about things like biodegradable plastic, as well as kits that use up significant amounts of the runner (leaving very little leftover scrap behind).

At least the packaging seems appropriate. Nearly all plamo come in cardboard boxes, with the runners wrapped in very little plastic.
>>
>>13992351
What about those frame robo things? It's not biodegradable but you fold up the entire runner into the one robot so there's not any leftover plastic.

This is my backlog. Everything on this list is HG, except for Spiegel (which is either FG or "Early HG"), and Star Winning (which is SD).

My current gameplan is to start with Spiegel, since I have the least to lose if/when I fuck up (I bought two of them and they cost very little money).

Then I'll move onto the Star Winning Gundam, because everyone tells me that SDs are piss-easy to build.

Then if my confidence hasn't completely shattered, I plan on moving to the GMs, due to their relatively simple design.

Then once I'm done that, I'll move onto the next simplest designs, such as the Guncannon or the RX-78-2. I plan on gradually building my way to more complicated designs this way.

>Haven't built a single kit yet
How in the fuck do you acquire so much yet do so little? Did you just blow like $400 on kits without so much as opening one and attempting it? What the fuck is wrong with you?
>>
Honest question, why do people buy High Grade? They arent very fun to build and they dont look very good, too basic for my liking.

>>

>>
>>13992792
Get good at what?! I cant change the basic design of HG's.

>>13992796
Hmm, good to know. Thank you for a decent answer.
>>
>>13992782
>What the fuck is wrong with you?
Lots of things.

I imported large quantities from Japan because it's cheaper in the long run this way. Then sometimes I'll find a kit that is rare/sells out quickly, and I just have to have it. But there's no way I'm paying such murderous shipping charges for a single kit, so I'll add various other kits to my cart to justify the shipping.

I've also committed a lot of time to my new job, which also has a fairly long commute. I've done plenty of overtime already, and I foresee lots of overtime in the following fiscal year.

To add on top of that, I recently moved, which gave me even less time to work on Gunpla. I was busy packing boxes rather than opening them.

I'm not offended by your post at all. It was a legitimate question. Plus, if you knew how much money I spent on other hobbies, this would seem like absolutely nothing.

>>
>>13993187
Grammar, do you have it?
Type out the post properly so I can parse what the fuck you're talking about at the end with the brushes. Do you mean you want to hand paint with physical brushes like in art? Yes, you can do that. It's not as easy to look good as with airbrushed, but it's possible with practice.
>>
>>13993204
Sorry my English is quite poor. I have tried to get better but i think my brain isn't good. Yes I plan to hand brush them but I'm not sure where to start.

I have herd from /tg/ that if you dont water down your paint it is bad do this apply to gunpla to?
>>
>>13993186
Oh nothing, it's CEfying a Crossbone. It's as simple as that. Though I am going to paint it with Either X-1 or X3 colors
>>
>>13993241
Yes, you want to water down the paint. Thinner can be used, or sometimes water. It depends on the paint brand. Don't buy random art store paints, look online at what brands you have neat you that are for modeling. Tamiya, Testors, Vallejo, those types of brands. You can buy hand brushes in packs generally, I've heard sable brushes are well made.
Have you read the guide at the top? It has useful info on all this stuff.
>>13993260
Well, if you're using a CE Gundam as a base then that's making a Crossbone of a CE suit, not making a CE version of the Crossbone. That would mean giving the Crossbone CE elements. Either way, keep us updated. Maybe work the foot daggers onto the SBS somehow, have it use a flintlock pistol and give it a skull on the chest with paint or plastic. If it weren't for the cape right now I wouldn't be able to tell it was related to Crossbone.

I used labeled ziplocs for a long time, but my mom worked at a local jewelry store so I have tons of tiny boxes of every shape and size. I just labeled the side with the related kit. Organization is key and should vary depending on storage method. Number everything. With ziplocks in a drawer it'll be increasingly tedious to find exactly what you're looking for with every kit added. I keep my boxes in the Attic, but the basement is good too if you can protect them from the moisture. (My basement sucks that way.) If you live in an apartment, you might be better off using the boxes as mural art/collage, or collapsing them. If not, there's little to no excuse for allowing them to clutter too much. Your parent's won't mind if storing your shit in the basement means a cleaner room/closet.

Also since snapfit kun needs this tip worst of all.
Rather than using 3 or 4 different grades of sandpaper use just the hobby knife to get it close and use the 2K grit and cloth for finishing touches.
I could go on about scratch building and painting techniques but that'd go over his head and would be too much for to post and write now. And I'd want to post it somewhere else so it wouldn't disappear completely in a couple weeks.
And lastly, there is ZERO excuses for not panel lining a kit, you can use a mechanical pencils, sharpies, just about ANY marker. Crayola, you name it. Fuck if you have to borrow your little brother's/sister's crayons you CAN make it work. You might not be able to get everything with crayons, when I was little I melted them and poured the liquid over the panel and scraped off the excess with my fingernail careful not to scrape into the line.
If you don't panel line you're just a retard or an asshole who can only orgasm after he shitposts.

You two have some details right, but not all. The Gerbera Tetra was built from the frame of the Gundam GP04, which was cancelled during construction. The Gerbera Tetra was always intended to be built from what was originally meant to be the GP04. Gerbera is the name of a type of Daisy flower, and Tetra is from the Greek language for "four".

The rest of the Gundams GP01 through GP03 also have official flower nicknames which strengthen the connection to the Gerbera Tetra, but these were rarely touched upon. The GP01 is known as the Zephyranthes, the GP02 is the Physalis, and the GP03 is the Dendrobium and Dendrobium Stamen.

The Gerbera Tetra wasn't stolen. AE still had the frame and parts lying around after the GP04 was cancelled. I believe most of the parts were used to rebuild the GP01 into the full vernian version. The frame was completed as the Gerbera Tetra with new armor and parts, and given to Cima by the scheming director of AE (who later shot himself in the head when it turned out that Jamitov was playing the Zeon remnants all along).

gives the piece more support when you cut it with the hobby knife.
I saw it in a model building magazine. The tip was on how a guy could cut off the top of his car without snapping the frame that holds up the hood.

Pearl is a closer shape to the original pieces and how sensors look in the show, but it's not going to be as reflective, and by the time you paint it you might as well have painted the kit pieces.

Some of you have build Muv-Luv related stuff?
I'm kind of interested by the Takemikazuchi Type-00R Non scale by Koto, but there is two versions, the old one and the 1.5.
What are the differences? The 1.5 makes the old one irrelevant?

the 1.5 improves the hip articulation a whole fucking lot, and the weapon racks so it can do the back shoot thing
in comparison, the old one gets really overshadowed, but the 1.5 is quite more expensive

Working with some ideas on the custom Graze. I didn't want to incorporate too much of the Schwalbe Graze's parts, since some parts expose too much frame and others are too chunky and hinder movement, like the thigh armor.

HAHAHA if that existed, they'd be making mint. It'd be like Games Workshop's bitz ordering (do they even still do that?).

Your best bet is buying some Detail Builders Parts (which are inordinately difficult to find In Stock). You would probably need one of the Vernier kits.

However, if you "lost" a part, you could try begging Bluefin Distribution? I know they replace missing parts that weren't in the kit or were damaged, but I'm not totally sure about missing ones.
