To be fair I think it's because she didn't show much of Sakuya's personality in that role, probably because Sakuya didn't get a lot of screentime in the last two and a half episodes

I've been humming the Super Soul Saber theme the entire day. It's been more than a decade since I beat the game (or even had any sort of interaction regarding the game) and I only started recalling it since the MD announcement. But what I was surprised at was how much of the song I actually remembered probably because I really liked it.

Really Rie Tanaka is the perfect casting for Sakuya given how the canon character is, just that Maikaze utterly wasted it by having her do shit all. Ultimately it was a was a waste of voice talents since the only real good things we got from it was Ayumi Fujiwara's Aya, Miyuki Sawashiro's amazing OoC Marisa and Sayuri Yahagi's actually pretty accurate Reisen.

Which about sums up SDD's plot in general, it's 2016 now and they're only just teasing ep 3.

Meanwhile we've had a bunch of other fan circles put out higher quality animations at a better pace in the mean time.
