His character doesn't really need to be updated because unlike Batman and Superman, Ichigo took a break from the spotlight, and Toei cycled new riders center stage, each with a new story to appeal to a younger and younger audience. Batman has to to endure 70 years of change to stay revelent and popular. Ichigo has no need too, and has become an icon of his era.

Asking to change Ichigo character would be like asking to change Kuuga's to appeal to the Phase 2 audience. It's just totally unnecessary since the main Phase 2 riders fill that void just fine.

Yeah, but they didnt change their characters completely. Takumi only had a non canon development in Heisei vs Showa that made no sense when compared to the show, and KR4 just made sure Faiz's finale happened for good.

The actor is really fucking dedicated to his role, like not only plays Hongo (which is manly as fuck) but also makes the stunts AND sings the opening. I also like how they play with the tragic fact that he's not human anymore (they drop it later when Hayato appears tho, some later shows and movies bring that aspect back but not with Hongo).

During the Legendary 7 era, he went from an earnest and honestly kind of goofy 20-something who was trying as hard as he could fight off the psychological trauma of havnig been permanently condemned by a secret society that has taken over most of the world and corrupted the same portion to being an inhuman monstrosity to becoming a mentor-like, older-brother figure for most of the Riders due to the fact he's been through the same problems most of them had, even if Tachibana had a stronger mentor-like background. As of recently, he's become more focused on the job, having lived so long he's lost most of who he's close to that he needs to focus on his heroics - and if we can use Fourze as reference, he's become a bit long-winded and fond of talking too much to newer Riders.
