You can if you want. Sun Vulcan is good fun. I've only seen Battle Fever, some of Bioman, Maskman, and Liveman when it comes to Showa series and they're all worth a look, Liveman especially. I just mean Zyu isn't as good as Jetman, But after you pass that it's pretty much smooth sailing on good series until you get to Gaoranger

Is that really a bad thing though? Sentai, like many of Ishinomori's works, is a constant refinement of a similar premise: hero(es) fight against evil organization and their henchmen. In a lot of ways, seeing the small changes from year to year is what I enjoy most about this series. From Goranger to Jyuohger; seeing how the show has stuck to it's roots for 40 years now, it's an amazing thing. How many other shows can boast that. The fact that I can watch any installment, even at its worst, and see that spark that made me love this genre warms my heart.

For Sentai, the word you're looking for is "un-Changed." Rangers "Change." That's the term that's always been used.

I kinda screwed up the wording. I was recommending Time Force and RPM because they're My favorites and they're considered the best in the franchise. PR doesn't really have an "Average" because of all the Changes it's Undergone. If you're gonna watch Lightspeed, great, that's the closest to "Average" the Franchise has (Also: Beware of Vypra's Acting)

Dino Charge is considered great because it came after Samurai and Megaforce (which are both awful)

The constant state of butthurt regarding PR and the false need of feeling superior for something as retarded as a person's choice on kids toy commercials. The PR fanbase is also shit, but at least they're obsessed with a show they like, not a show they hate.

Also, how casual the fanbase generally is. Like, most people for some reason start with Gokaiger or akibaranger (which are literally where you should not start with) and then pretend to know everything just for watching that (and often become part of the butthurt crowd). And even after watching more shows they still can't admit those two's flaws because they are so precious to them. Which is even worse when and if they accuse PRfans of being nostalgiafags for MMPR.

Also, the people who judge a children's toy commercial with the same paradigm as an adult american tv show. Though that's more of a problem with the toku fanbase in general than specifically sentai.

Depends on what you think "matter" is. The show is essentially for children and their parents to stick around, they wont make (aside from Akibaranger) a specific show to cater to adult fans since they already like the way sentai is (for the most part at least), but there's a recent trend of them making fan-oriented cameos like the ninjas in Ninninger, the Dino teams in Kyoryuger vs Go-Busters and so on, and, arguably, the v-cinemas. So yeah, they care about adult fans, but the way they cater to them is not the one people usually expect.

Go-Busters is very innovative in some aspects and has some likable characters and concepts not seen before on the franchise. The last arc kinda drags on, but overall its pretty good. Yoko is kinda bland though, which is something that usually bothers me of Kobayashi's females (specially being a woman herself).

Kyoryuger was my first weekly sentai and I'm fond of it. It's not without its flaws but overall it's pretty fun and for the most part well plotted. It also has some character archetypes that were either new to sentai (Nossan, Utchy, Ramirez,Ulshade-Yayoi) or not seen in a while (Ian) and,despite what most people say, they all get (except Amy, who I have nothing against) good moments. That said, Daigo DOES take much of the spotlight which can get annoying sometimes, specially in the ending.

/a/ got me to watch Akibaranger, then I moved onto Gokaiger because that was the most recent one with a batch, and also I thought the concept was cool. I have no shame in admitting that, nor did I ever think those shows made me a Sentai know-it-all. Infact, they got me curious enough about the rest of the franchise that I've stuck with it.

Toqger has great writing and solid characters that are actually consistent with the developments they make in the, apparent, "filler" episodes, which was nice. Although most of the plot was carried by the villains, but they were well handled and had a Soda-type twist. It and Go-Busters remind me of one of my favourite shows, Flashman. I'd say it's mid-tier only because they went full retard with the suits and mechs.

Ninninger was kinda bland at the beggining, but the characters are also solid and all seem to subtly develop with the exception of Fuuka who works more as a support character than an actual ranger. I also like the mechs designs a lot and the clever ways the writers work around the toy limitations (like the super ninpo, or when Nagi used a combination of Transformation and gattai, or the Gekiatsu sword being used as an upgrade for Kinji). That said, the premise is very overdone and similar to Shinkenger and the only villain even close to being interesting is Kyueemon. Maybe Mangetsu too depending on where they go with him, but the show is about to end so I don't see them going anywhere interesting with him. I hope I'm wrong.

So, for the rank I'd say it's Go-Busters->Kyoryuger->Ninninger->Toqger
