All of them were great that season. Everyone's style is indicative in pic related. I really liked GokaiYellow's.

I've never really understood why the rangers have such little fighting charisma in general. Gingaman, Gokaiger, Dairanger and Sun Vulcan are the only shows where each ranger's style stands out.

You can also tell from that gif that although the Gokaiger's main weapons was just the sword and gun, they had their own style and technique with it. Ahim and Don preferred the double pistols, Joe and Luka preferred the double swords while Captain Marvelous preferred the sword and gun combo.

Here's also a fun fact....Hachisuka was the first male suit actor to portray a female blue as Blue Dolphin in Liveman while his twin brother and fellow suit actor Shoji Hachisuka became the 2nd as Blue Swallow in Jetman.

That depends on what you like. A few recommendations:

Magiranger - The cast is lighter than Shinkenger and its starts off a little silly but quickly evolves into this cool story about finding your place in a family and getting second chances.

Kakuranger - Crazy acid trip of a show with an actual message hidden. It's one of the few Sentai to clearly divide itself into two distinct halves.

Jetman - Basically what Shinkenger was to the 90s, a show that takes itself very serious with some interesting new (at the time) character tropes.

Gingaman. It sets up a lot of the tropes used in Shinkenger and has a similar setup in general, 'cause the writer's the same.

O-T has a tendency to fuck with proper nouns, so unless I'm forgetting something, they must have used their last names to create those titles.

Like my incredibly rudimentary knowledge of Japanese Dokoku's surname Chimatsuri ends up meaning "Blood Festival" which in O-T language would be shortened into something that is contextually similar like "Butcher".

Again, O-T seems to translate context above all else. Whoever did Shinkenger must have just thought that the original intention in Japanese was close enough to the English word Tarnished to justify it. It's best not to dwell on it, but it's still a million times better than the alternative IMO.

I only have the most rudimentary understanding of Japanese, but based on what I've heard Geki is notoriously difficult to translate because there are a lot of different dialects in play. It's especially true for Geki Red, who uses Japanese child talk - complete with making up and assigning nonsense "noun-noun" names to things he's unfamiliar with.

That said, I watched the TV-N subs, and not only am I still alive but Geki is one of my favorites in the series. The most obnoxious part for me besides Red's baby talk was the mistranslation of a few main characters' names who were clearly meant to have animal motifs. Last I heard from /ssg/ (admittedly, years ago) the scrubs were so marginally different from TV-N's subs that there was still open debate over which was preferable.

Either way, definitely worth watching.

Generally speaking I tend to like the aesthetics of technology-driven teams better than mystical ones since they lend themselves to cleaner, simpler designs more naturally. Yeah, with Carranger, Uehara was probably given a lot of liberty because they thought Sentai was gonna be canceled anyways and had nothing left to lose.

They let Shimoyama cut loose for things like Busters Returns, but I guess they wouldn't let him for a full series.

You can still see hints of that self-referential type of humor in Ninninger. There are lots of subtle jabs if you pay attention, but it's definitely not so blatant which is unfortunate.
