I wouldn't call it sappy. It is a genuine critique of rural northeastern life at the time and based upon a story Wharton read about in a newspaper. If you are looking for feels you can find them here.

It's great, it's just that the last section (where Fromm tries to imagine a perfect world) goes full Marxist utopia conspiracy theory bullshit. Up until then it's fantastic though.

Johann von der Fag is the author. Nice Hat is the title. He only said Fag because all truly literate intellectuals are familiar with the works of Johann von der Fag. Johann von der Fag (born to the Romanian name PÄstrÄv de Fag) is the greatest 16th century author of post-proto-modern literature that the principality of Kleinstaaterei ever produced.

I see this posted everywhere on this site.
Is it a meme or is it just you posting it every time?
I saw this in person when I was a child and I literally had some kind of dreamscape hallucination and then passed out. It's really huge and overwhelming in person and the room it was in amplified that. No one else seemed to think so though so maybe I just have Stendhal syndrome.

>>9998558
Yes that's where I saw it.
Are you the guy who posted up there?
I honestly want to know why the painting keeps getting posted. From my description of its effects on me, you might understand why I'm a little curious about it, and so I want to know how other people know about it.
When I first saw it I just thought it was some random painting, I didn't think it had any fame or anything, so I'm really surprised when I see it on 4chan all the time.

>>9998578
I'm the guy who posted the image in this thread originally
I have no idea that it's being circulated around, especially on /pol/, and no idea if it's a meme
I found it on some art merchandise website and thought it was really cool

That room, btw, has a very high dark ceiling that almost looks like a night sky, and around the edges of the ceiling is a very high ledge on which were perched strange busts in the corners looking down.
>>9998637
okay that cements it, I wanted that painting in my room and a grey background will go perfectly with it
just not that baroque frame, rather go for a smooth white frame
