I never wrote song lyrics, but I guess you should study poetry (rhyme patterns, meter, prosody) and learn how to craft a metaphor and create vivid images. Knowing the basic mechanics of the vocal apparatus can't hurt either I guess, to know which transitions would be good or not and what creates harmony.
Apart from that learn "music stuff", study what's popular and what you like, and just write a lot of songs. The more songs you write the more chances you have of ending up writing a few decent ones eventually.
