I like feet
>>
>>9022639
The Catcher in the Rye is still one of my all-time favorite books to this day
>>
>>9022644
Because you're a patrician, anon. It's about time you come to terms with it.
>>
>>9022639
Havent read anything today
If a book bores me I drop it
I usually read 2 - 3 books at the same time
Books about rich people REALLY bore me, so I guess I will never experience the whole cannon and I dont really sweat it
I think literature is dead until something like a next world war happens, millenials and everyone after just cant make good literature and is not really their fault
harold bloom sucks dick

i once hung out with professional poets, and listening to them bitterly talk about the demeaning shit they had to do just to survive made me give up any dreams i had of working in the literary field, and i got a job working in a factory instead. i met an immeasurably better class of person there. people who don't habitually lie about their own worth and who don't backstab each other.
>>
>>9022796
most poets are leftist scum too. worst of the wurst.
>>
I only read for 1-2 hours a day.
>>
I dropped A Tale of Two Cities after the first chapter and never read Dickens again because of his annoying use of multiple clauses in a sentence and verbosity.

I haven't read any of the book I'm on in the past four or five days

I hate all the classical English literature canon of the 17th/18th century

Whitman is the only poetry i genuinely enjoy

I can't not. I get bored if I'm just reading one book at a time and will end up not finishing it.
>>
I was bored to death by great expectations but kept on readings because it's a classic, i will never touch a dickens novel again
Started the habit of reading multiple books at the same time (up to five)
>>
>>9023408
The thing is i have that too
I just bought Catch-22 and i can't wait to read it but i haven't finished my current book, and for some reason i don't wanna start Catch-22 before finishing the other
I don't even really know why i do that

I M H O nobody really understands as much as they think they or others do.
Even professors and people who analyze books for a living are mostly just projecting their own opinion about shit, grabbing onto something and justifying their opinion, unless the author makes it really obvious.
>read book
>Character eats an Apple
>100 pages later
>mentions Apple again in passing
>near the end of the book someone sees a bowl of fruit
>Now, notice the repeated references to apples. What ______ _______ is trying to do here is link the narrative and the characters to original sin. Notice how by the end of the book the apple isn't even mentioned, it's just fruit. _____ _____ wanted to show us how oblivious we become as we go on sinning without thought. The entire story is in the spirit of mans blah blah blah
Pretty much any great book written in the last few decades has had its public perception determined by the subjective analysis of a handful of loud voices.
But any great book should be written well enough that somebody can read it and get a lot out of it, without having to read any critical analysis.
I never realized this shit triggered me so hard.
>>
>>9022639
I think footfags should be rounded up and killed. They are ruining literature, tv shows and porn.

Discipline anon. 5-6 books a year is really really sad, no offense. Are you reading because you want to read, or simply to look better/cultured? 18 isn't too late of an age, despite what you think, you will learn as you grow and get older and become more appreciative of many things.

I read 5 or 6 books outside of my school reading up until the age of 18. I don't think it's sad, it's simply average. In fact, most children don't read outside of what's assigned to them in school.

Nothing. I just feel like i'm at a disadvantage when I read about all of these great authors who spent their childhoods reading Homer and Rimbaud. It's like I'm learning how to play an instrument as an adult, and trying to compete with musicians who've gotten piano lessons since they were 4.

If you're not willing to put work into reading a text then read commercial literature
>>
>>9024454
Infinite Jest is commercial literature masquerading as literary fiction. It makes people think they're smart when they read it, but it's just a series of simple tricks, and "Oh I read a long book."

That's why if I ever go into an airport Barnes and Noble, they always have plenty of copies being picked up by "literate" business men who feel intelligent for buying it.

Your leader was a bitchy, angsty satanist with the temper of a 12 year old and an ego the size of the sun. The Church reformed as it always does, the protestants fled to the new world where they went on to proclaim that God lives on a planet called Kolob and that the virtuous who die in the magic underwear get to be Gods of their own universes.

most fiction bores me

I can read up to 3-4 books at a time and understand all of their plots/events/stories (If I'm reading memoirs)

I like reading memoirs over operations books

I own more memoirs than operations books

I've around 120+ books in queue waiting to be read. (60 to be read and another 60 to be bought and read)

Philosophy books bore me to no end and I actively attempt not to read them. (I've read only 3-4)
