We appear to have gotten through a large chunk of travel writing based on Dumas' own experiences. Now we are in paris there is a large influx of old characters making appearances, and Dantes seems ready to start all this revenge stuff he seems so keen about.

I think it's pretty important, because it felt like the first time Dantes was caught off-guard. So far everything seemed like going according to plan, except for this time.

Hard to say. I don't think he hates him. Albert seems like a cool dude desu.

Yes. I think he knew, that Caderousse would ruin himself considering how greedy he is.
