You cant really shit on him for that here when half the people like loli porn and 25% more think 13 should be the age of consent with a 40 yr old man.

We all came here for /b/ and about 10% of us got past it and were sorted to pur regular boards by interest. It seems that people who go to /lit/ also tend to visit /tv/ and /tg/. Of course the kind of adventurous contrarians who visit 4chan also tend to try everything once, so we've probably all been to /a/, and /v/, the most visited, but most cancerous discussion boards. People who visit /v/ also tend to hang around /g/, and people who visit /g/ tend to hang around /sci/. Of course the likelyhood that someone from /v/ visits /sci/ is much less than someone from /lit/ visiting /tv/, its still a distinct possibility. But for the most of us, regardless of the boards we visit, we all tend to go to one place more often than the rest. For me, I come here, because I found I save the most threads and have the deepest discussions. Others go to /tv/ to talk about film and they read literature on the side, and many others enjoy history more than literature so they spend most of their time their.

Teenagers have sex, it's a thing that happens. Shit on Green for being an awful writer instead.

Further expounding upon and promoting my theory I'd like to propose the idea of "core boards" that is to say their are a distinct set of boards that harbor a sort of umbrella over a group of other boards. People tend to visit one board the majority of time, and these boards are probably in the set of core boards. I.e. The boards (not counting porn) I visit most often are: /lit/, /tg/, and /v/. /lit/ is a core board. It provides all the writing pieces and stories found on other boards and supplements discussion for topics which while discussed on other boards are generally found here. /o/, is not a core board. The people who visit /o/ mostly go their on a whim. Its slow, and its obvious that a large majority usually visit other boards more often. /o/ board culture usually never slips beyond /o/, except occasional refernces to initial D.

Now that we have defind and established what a core board is and what means, we can talk about a place that was once a core board, /a/. /a/, and anime in general has become ingrained in the sinew of 4chan. Every board is now /?/+/a/. You see anime everywhere from the far reaches of /fit/ to occasionally spreading its influence to /lit/. But since all the discussion moved from /a/ to all other boards /a/ is now a husk of its previous culture. It has reached a stage beyond that of a core board and is now a post-core. /a/ is probably the worst board (discounting /b/ of course) on 4chan. Even /h/ has better discussion. All the people left there are pedophiles and curious teenagers, scraping for a semblance of disscussion, but only finding dull misrepresentations of what they percieve to be fully thought out ideas which they respond to with even worse and more contrived ideas which in turn devolves into people just calling eachother faggots and leaving that be. Its what happens to all boards at critical popularity since all the people who really care about the subject have already left. 4chan as a system is prederminate in this manner. As a board culture becomes more popular discussion becomes worse since it begins attracts a wider section of the general population of 4chan, and with that it brings in more shitposters and degenerates who care nothing about what the board was actually created for or the people who want to talk about it. All I wish is that it never happens here, since although /lit/ is a medium-paced board, its only because a small population posts so much in the name of true discourse. I want to be able to come on here 10 years from now and still be able to make jokes about modern pre-eminent authors who produced famous works that will stay classics for years to come, but the transient nature of this website may prevent that. Its our trade for true freedom of speech unfettered by politics and arbitrary popularity systems, is that our words disseapear into the void and we can never remember them, important or no.

/lit/ is the only board I go to. I used to go to /mu/ for a very long time before I got into literature, and browsed /v/ for a short time. But /lit/ is the only board on 4chan that's ever worth going to. But I thought it would be natural that someone who is interested in literature doesn't watch television. I don't see how the two can coexist on more than an occasional basis.
>>
>>8524157
/his/ isn't that bad. Once in a while I'll visit the NSFW boards when I'm jerking off.
>>
>>8524165
4chan is awful for porn, though.

Not particularly. I find that a lot of anons have an eye for quality.
>>
>>8524204
My standards are just very high. There's very little material on 4chan that doesn't turn me off.
>>
>>8524213

4chan is good for amateur stuff outside of the torrent section and that's about it. Amateur stuff hurts to see though as it's too real.

That isn't very /lit/ of you.
>>
>>8524524
Then you are a pleb. Sorry.
>>
>>8523991
I don't think /lit/ will ever have to worry about too much shitposting. It's easier for a board like /tv/ or /a/ to experience such a dramatic decrease in post quality because watching an anime or a television are lower quality hobbies. Watching a t.v show or an episode of anime is only a 30-60 minute time investment, while reading a book can take hours-days, and usually not just in one sitting. They're also more accessible. A television or computer/internet is more simple than going to a library or buying a book or even finding a pdf of it online for the average person. Add in the fact that television and anime are just more popular, and it becomes pretty easy to see why those boards attract such a huge influx of low effort posters. Boards like /r9k/ or /b/ are even worse, since they don't even have any specific topic at all. /Int/ is another example of a board with no real particular topic, although its still better than /r9k/ and /b/.

In general, boards based on hobbies are going to have better discussion than boards based on consumption. Slower boards are also usually better. >>>/out/ is another example of a board that stays pretty free of shitposters.

I think /lit/ will remain pretty decent.
>>
>>8524529
Now that I think about it, no.
>>
>>8523991
>>8524898

If /lit/ actually turns to shit then all that is needed is a /book/ board.
>>
>>8523879
>we all came here from /b/
I don't think that is as universal as you believe. I think mu is a major gateway, at least it was for me
>>
>>8524898
/lit/'s quality is already decreasing, there's far more discussion about genre fiction on this board now then there ever, and just shitposting in general as well. If it doesn't improve soon I may finally have to abandon this board.

you need to read Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, you dingus. Step into an English department and you'll see people writing on "texts" constituted by anything from a TV show to a fucking piece of architecture.
