Virtually no one here is remotely qualified to properly and usefully answer this question.Dante > Homer > Milton > Goethe > Virgil imo from someone who only reads English but I've had a decent amount of Homer read aloud to me before in the original

What do you like so much about Dante? I was reading TDC but am abandoning it temporarily in favor of rereading some Billy Shakes. I can't read Italian, so I feel like I'm missing out on mich of the beauty and intricacies that someone fluent in that language would be able to appreciate

>Odyssey
>not Iliad
but really this is when we're really missing the Library of Alexandria

The Divine Comedy as a whole is, imo, one of the greatest works of fiction ever written.
That said, the Odyssey holds a special place in my heart as well.

What is it with all the colossal hands around here lately?
My personal favorites right now are the Odyssey and Paradise Lost
But I've always liked the Odyssey. Reading the Iliad right now and I mark out every time Ulysses shows up
Dante is amazing, too
