Thanks! After trial and error, I'm convinced everyone has a different way of dieting that will work, as long as it fits their lifestyle. Like the last time I had some success, I was doing exercise with my diet. Which worked but the exercise made me hungry and I ended up binging too often. Eventually, I regressed back to bad habits.
So I looked at my life and thought OK, what can I realistically change. I'm not a big sweets person, so it wasn't that hard for me to kick out soda and junk food out of my house and my diet. I like veggies but I also want to keep my meat and carbs. I work a lot which makes it hard for me to cook but then I can afford to buy overpriced things. I also noticed that at some fast foods/restaurants, I'd eat a solid meal and feel cravings soon after, whereas I wouldn't when I'd go to other places or cook at home. So I became convinced it was because of MSG or similar additives that were wreaking havoc with me. The biggest problem I had was figuring out proper portions, because America does everything huge.
I started with work lunches since I'm working and I don't really relax and enjoy them anyway. I stuck to ordering salads with minimal dressing or meals like pic related with fish/chicken, low carbs and lots of veggies. Most importantly, I made sure I could get a calorie count and kept track of it and made sure I stayed at or under 1200 cal/day.

So I stuck to one coffee to wake me up with minimal cream and 1 fake sugar packet. I stuck to water or if I needed, tea for caffeine the rest of the day. No juice or soda because that wasn't too hard for me to cut out.

I've been making an effort to kick out bad foods recently. I don't need to lose weight, but you know, eating healthy still has its benefits.
Kicking out sweets was hard for me because I'm big into chocolatey snacks. I hardly go out to eat, to fast food chains even less so, and I've been cooking daily from scratch for the past month or so. I feel like I need some new go-to recipes still though and eat more fruit.

On weekends, I cook. I know how to make a lot of healthy dishes so it's easy for me. I'll make double portions so I only cook once a day. Oh yeah, I'm not a breakfast person either so it's two days. Easy to maintain and track cals that way.
The last thing I did is I accounted for the fact on weeknights I don't like to go out and don't feel like cooking. So on the advice on a co-worker, I tried out this diet plan with frozen meals that range from 250-380cals (pic related) with small snacks as an option like a 60cal beef jerky. They're easy, fairly tasty after I add some spices, with clear cals I can count. It's definitely pricey but easy mode.
Every week and a half to two weeks I have a cheat meal. But I reduce portions. Like in the past there would be this footlong sub that I really liked with a bag of chips. On my cheat day I eat half the sub for lunch and half for dinner and try to skip the chips or only eat half of it.
It's been working out fairly well for months now, because it fits my lifestyle and it doesn't feel too hard. I feel hungry sometimes but it's not an overwhelming feeling. It seems like my body is adjusting to lower portions naturally too. /end

I'm not much of a snack person. I'd say whatever you pick out, measure our portions and calculate calories ahead of time instead of browsing. I find I'm really lousy with my control with nuts, peanut butter, nutella etc so I've cut them out by now.
I've had pretty good results with jerky (these I got from the diet program are tasty and only 60cals), air popped popcorn that I add things to (you can make a sweet version). It doesn't take much to give popcorn flavor and even the aroma is comforting. To be honest the latest chapters of YagaKimi have been cringe as fuck. Touko is getting annoying with her identity issues and Yuu pisses me off with her denial, also the teacher turned out to be a borderline hetslut bishit.

Sayaka is the only good thing out of this and the series should have ended with 3 volumes or so, no need to stretch things so much it's just getting old and boring. Pretty sure they are aiming at 7-9 volumes or so just to get anime adaptation.

Which is a shame because I actually like the Touho doujins this mangaka had made before and was just disappointed by this manga.

Pretty much all yuri manga is idealized, all you can really ask for is that its internally consistent. I don't think Nakatani is going to pretend that Touko is 100% fixed by Yuu, but that's all speculation in any case.
