You have probably built her up in your mind as a personification to fight loneliness. Personally, I like it and use it. Queer to me tends to skew a little more political, SJW if you have to, and is more about having a label that reflects what you think more than what you do. I think the gap in career choices can be attributed to a lack of role models in part, but I think most of it is just biology and nature. I don't think women as a whole will ever have much interest in being plumbers or car mechanics or truck drivers. Nothing wrong with that. It's super different in the UK and Ireland. UK you're only expected to take I think 5-6 GCSEs and 3-4 A-Levels? Though you can take more. In Ireland you have 3 basic subjects, Irish, English and Maths, a European language is almost compulsory unless you're retarded and then you do 3 or 4 optional subjects for your final exams. Alright now seriously, I really enjoyed Haruhi and Full Metal Panic, Lucky Star, K-ON!, Clannad and Nichijou.

Hyouka bored me to death so I dropped it like episode 5, didn't get too far. I liked Chuu2 at the beginning but then I got bored and got to episode 6 or so, dropped; didn't watch later season. I watched the first 3 episodes of Tamako but I remember I got to the qt brown girl episode and dropped it (not racist, I was already bored, it was time to drop it). I watched 2 episodes of Free!, realized I'm not attracted to 2D bishies and dropped it, didn't touch S2. I actually managed to finish Kyoukai no Kanata, that show was cute but a bit boring. KnK really frustrates me, because it's an example of a work being LESS than the sum of its parts. The story itself is interesting, the world is neat, the characters are likeable enough, the animation is fantastic, but it was all put together in a way that I can't bring myself to like. I find the way the story was told in the TV series aggravating, and in the movies it's dull. I can see why someone would like it, but it just makes me frustrated because they were SO CLOSE.

Hyouka is kind of like a lot of iyashikei imo -- if you don't find it soothing then you'll find it boring. I like how it incorporates some old-fashioned shit (glimpses of the nape of the neck delivered as fanservice) and I like how pretty it is. Tamako is similar, though the show could have done without birb and brown girl. She was cute, but that bit of the plot made no sense.

I dunno if I would have gotten through all of Free! on my own, but it's sure a fun show to laugh at with others.

I'm not going to defend Chuu2 or AmaBuri (or Phantom World) they have some redeeming elements but aren't great overall.

I'm not sure how they've "fucked up" light novels in the past, except from the POV of hetfags. I'm also not sure why anyone thinks they'll decrease the gay in Maidragon.
