I found that I was able to get myself invited to shit by literally asking if it was alright if I could come. More often than not people will say yes, but if they're not comfortable with you coming along, they'll politely let you down. I mean yeah we're more liberated from heteronormative ideas of success and we don't have the same pressure to marry and if you're into bucking all that then more power to you. I just know what I want out of life and a family is part of it. I guess if you don't have a strong sense of family like I did growing up it might be difficult to understand why it matters to some people.
But I'm probably not gonna do surrogacy because I have genes that have some percentage of passing on a pain in the ass disease. In a way being gay coincides nicely with that though

Surrogacy should be out of the question for anyone entirely from the start. No reason to create more children when there are plenty out there who are already born and would desperately love a family.
Effectively, it's not down to a 'strong sense of family', but rather a selfish desire. Nothing wrong with this though, majority of our motives are selfish. I just don't see why you're masquerading it as due to a 'strong sense of family', 'I'm blessed and want to bless another child', and 'my parents would like it' - dude, you're the one who wants it and that's the end of it. Although, I suppose it bears the question, why does one feel the need to justify their future decisions to some stranger online - but I guess that's another topic.
