Unique elements, interesting and realistic characters. Pacing is one of the most important things for a webcomic. You should have something happening every page, even if it's not plot related.

Realise the world your characters inhabit, make sure things are consistent and correct. ToY is a good example of how to fuck up a good webcomic in lots of little ways. Two dimensional characters, inconsistent world and plot details, poor pacing.

I think it is different for literature and comics. They can actually suck you in and make you relive the feelings you felt the first time around. Those novel bits of participation and thrill you feel for every new progression and development of a story.

No song can do that. No music can blend your thoughts into something fictional as good as written or drawn stories can. Imo, at least.

Yeah I mean, I get the dramatic effect the author's going for, but I'd kinda wish we'd at least get to see some of the action, and not just the aftermath.

Also, the slow-burn thing gets to me after a while. The day that Jack comes out of the closet will be they day that this becomes my favorite comic again. But 2016 is supposed to bring forth regular updates, so hopefully the pace will pick up.

It's Jack and Shitty's last game, so yeah it sucks, but it's not like it ruins anyone's future or anything. Shitty's still going to law school, Jack's still going into the NHL, so them losing in the playoffs doesn't really do anything other than get everyone's mood down for a little while.

The author plans on writing the story all the way through Bitty's graduation. It won't stop when Jack goes to play for the Falconers. She's probably saving the Big Heroic Sports Anime Victory for Bitty's junior or senior year, where it'll be more climactic in the story.

I guess I never saw it that way? But I like seeing characters I like put through emotional turmoil with the prospects of a happy ending down the line, so I have nothing much to complain about, even if the pacing is a bit unsatisfying right now.

My main hope would be that this leads to Bitty giving Jack a good pep talk, or at least them having a nice serious conversation. Ideally, the next update will be dialogue-heavy since this one was just heavy silence.

Shades of A is a bit of a mixed review. Generally, /wcg/ didn't like neither the asexual guy or the genderqueer ginger fatso who crossdresses.

His latest comic, I think, is finally what the author is actually into. Gay men doing gay shit and drama. So if you like his current comic, it's reasonable. I honestly think that his current work is more genuine of his creativity and ambition than any of his previous "LGBTQ everyone is represented, ya'll!" comics.
